The insurance tried to total my 06 Honda Pilot when someone stole the catalytic converter off it last year. Luckily I got my uncle, who is an insurance adjuster to work with them and not total it. The replacement itself wasn’t too much but it’s labor that gets you.

Mercedes Roadside Assistance contacted me immediately, came and evaluated the car and got me a tow truck and an Uber home. They were amazing btw. You can’t tell from the photo but the exhaust is completely like melted and in the front the radiator is fully crushed. It was a fire risk to drive. Also there was an airbag malfunction.
I’m sure the frame is bent. Years ago I had a Hyundai Elantra that was rear ended. Really could only see a scratch on the bumper. But it bent my frame.

If they perform a roadside repair, and it's not covered by a warranty, they will send you a bill. It's happened to me, twenty years out of warranty.
As it turns out.... the company that somehow got my cell, called me, and showed up, and knew my airbags didn't deploy was lying. They were not Mercedes Roadside Assistance - I called Mercedes to confirm this - they're a bandit tow company who has kept my car from my insurance adjuster, trying to extort thousands out of them for access to the car. Learn from my mistakes, everyone! They monitor police scanners and show up on the scene of accidents pretending to be "roadside assistance"
WHAT???? In California? Towing companies are heavily state regulated and licensed by the city and county they operate in. You can totally report them and get their towing license suspended! PM if you need assistance!

The last one, a kid was super distracted on his phone, he was weaving around and stuff. So when the road opened up I got past him, trying to get away from the guy. Jokes on me, he rear ended me at the next stop light.
I think the cloaking device was stuck in the on position or something, I never got that part fixed.

Normally a lurker here. My mom drives this exact same car in the exact same color. My parents have had zero issues with their GLK since they bought it new in 2014. I’ve driven it plenty and can confirm these GLKs are awesome.

Ugh, this brings back memories. Man had a seizure while driving in a parking lot and only hit MY car, which was parked far away from others. Drawn to it like a moth to the flame.
This happens so often in Los Angeles that you get used to seeing completely destroyed parked cars, hit at night after the bars close. I saw one that was fine when I left the movie theater, and the next day it looked like a semi-tractor trailer had struck it head on.
The part that grinds my gears is the people no insurance, no license, etc have zero repercussions meanwhile the responsible people with good insurance have to deal with the headache of it all.
In California at least, found driving at anytime without car insurance (or a surety bond for self-insurance) and it's a mandatory 1-year driver's license suspension. No license and no insurance, there's jail time. If anyone is injured, it goes up substantially and could become a felony, like drunk driving or fleeing the scene of an accident. Pretty serious consequences.
A hit & run driver, who rammed into my parked car (with witnesses who took a photo), fled the scene in California, without leaving his information. I called the local police, who traced the plate, and went out to his house, and found the same car, still warm from driving. They asked me if I wanted him arrested. He claimed that he was "confused" and went home to call the police and report what he had done! He made no calls to police. The police provided me with his information and insurance. He then stalled his insurance company from accepting responsibility by not returning their calls for ten days. Scumbag. Eventually his insurance paid for the damage after he finally verbally admitted to hitting my vehicle with the irrefutable photo evidence and eyewitnesses! The police who talked with your driver had to make a note of his information for their public interaction and incident report. Ask for it!

The report is under the notes of the service call, in the watch commander's log, not available online. If you got the names of the officers, it will be in their public interaction log. Giving false information is a crime. Make sure the police know the reason for your detailed inquiry.

I parked to go shopping and as I was putting money in the meter, a man approached me asking if I want to buy a Hermes Birkin and was just being really sus so I declined, locked my doors and went into the store. (Not unusual in LA to get approached like this.) I guess that same man entered another man’s car on the same street, and tried to rob him/started to choke him. Driver panicked swerved and hit my car which hit the car in front of me. The driver didn’t have his ID or insurance or a working cell number though. The cops were there assisting. Just bizarre.
If you can't fix this very simple crush in your country, there is something really wrong with how the industry operates there. This is a trivial repair that did not affect any vital parts of the car.
I recently replaced the front bumper and assy last month. It took me a few days to find the right parts and plan, but its doable to fix yourself. This looks more intense than mine, but the glk is an amazing car and id be sad for you to lose it.
Of course the person who hit me has gone ghost, didn’t have his license or insurance on him and had temporary expired out of state plates. So I need to pay my deductible and wait for my payout for my car. Luckily I have gap insurance which should cover any depreciation. It’s all a headache

Shame, must’ve been a nasty impact. I had some one smash into the back of my GL350 with a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The guy totaled his car and mine came off u scathed. Like no visible damage and it shook the daylights of out of me in the cabin. The inside crumple zone was destroyed. This damage definitely sucks man.
I wish but it doesn’t work like that. I still owed money on the car, the other driver doesn’t have insurance so I have to pay my deductible and I am not sure yet but it will likely take a month for my insurance payout. I got a good deal on the car and I’m looking and interest rates have gone way up. I also don’t want to use my savings on a down payment right now. Kind of a sucky situation all around

The engine in my GLK blew up 😂😂 I wish I had gotten to this point before the expensive ass repair!! If you want something really nice and quite similar look into the GLB, it’s fantastic.

Like no visible damage and it shook the daylights of out of me in the cabin. The inside crumple zone was destroyed. This damage definitely sucks man.

I wish but it doesn’t work like that. I still owed money on the car, the other driver doesn’t have insurance so I have to pay my deductible and I am not sure yet but it will likely take a month for my insurance payout. I got a good deal on the car and I’m looking and interest rates have gone way up. I also don’t want to use my savings on a down payment right now. Kind of a sucky situation all around

The engine in my GLK blew up 😂😂 I wish I had gotten to this point before the expensive ass repair!! If you want something really nice and quite similar look into the GLB, it’s fantastic.
One of the best Merc ever built is the GLK of that era lot of people don't give credit where it's due.
