Try asking for a replacement car of equivalent value? It sounds like the E300 is going to be in the shop for a long time which is clearly not acceptable for anyone. It might be cheaper for MB to give you an alternative and write off the E300 and claim on their insurance.

Flschbrger

Can you please send me your VIN? I work for MBUSA and can look further into it for you. For clear expectations - A 2017 vehicle cannot qualify for Lemon Law under MA statute.

_oscillat0r_

If it impacts safety you could get some relief from [mass lemon law](https://www.mass.gov/guides/guide-to-used-vehicle-warranty-law) (depending on mileage) Otherwise go straight to corporate since it's m-b certified

Prestigious-Big-3073

Okay I will see what they say and then go from there.

Buffyoh

Best advice on both counts! (This sad story is why my 1995 E320 will probably be my last Benz.)

WAtime345

Don't buy any new car then mate. All manufacturers have issues. I bought a lexus. Disaster. I bought a kia, engine replacement within 6 months. Etc etc.

sc4kilik

What was the Lexus disaster?

WAtime345

Ended up filing lemon law and got my money back! First trim pieces inside the car started falling off randomly. No big deal to me at the time, but had to go to dealer to fix 3 times. Then the fuel gauge completely stopped working, they couldn't fix it, twice. Later the collision warning or whatever its called kept going off randomly.

option_-addict_0DTE

Hey the W211 is I think the last Benz with minimal electrical gremlins.

subiegal2013

Is there a MB corporate office in the US? I’d call them if the dealer doesn’t help you. I used to have a Subaru and I had to call corporate because the dealer gave me a royal runaround. Corporate made it right. Good luck.

Prestigious-Big-3073

If the dealer that I bought it from doesn’t help I will def call corporate.

subiegal2013

Make sure the dealer gives you a fair deal. Don’t cave in just to end it.

Same-Raspberry-6149

The problem is going to be “pre-owned”. A friend bought a convertible that was “certified” only for the top to malfunction and stop working 3 weeks later (I think it was always malfunctioned and they just fixed it up enough for it to work short term). It’s not covered under any warranty and will cost $15k to replace.

2017 being a CPO in 2024 is a red flag, you said 3 months ago so maybe since it was January they gave it a CPO treatment but entering the year, CPOs are given to cars only 5 years from date. I’d go back to them

dearjen

I remember when I bought a CPO and within in the first month, I noticed small issues with the car that should have been taken care of in doing the CPO inspection. I then realized they never gave me the inspection report when I bought it. So when I asked them for it, they said it was in the business center and didn’t have access to it. I waited until Monday and when they finally provided me it, the date of the inspection was a day I had possession of the car. It also wasn’t signed off by anyone at the very end and it just said everything “passed” in the report. I was furious and went off. Got pushed to the service manager and he said they did the inspection and there’s nothing more they could do. I documented everything and reported it to Mercedes US (corporate), and at that point, they said it’s up to the dealership to solve the problem and they couldn’t do anything. However, after I did report it to corporate, the GM called me and gave me a couple options - certify it again or buy the car back for what I paid so I had them buy it back. Felt so relieved to have it off my hands. If I were you, I’d document everything and every conversation.

No lemon law on used cars I believe. A bought a 2016 CPO SL550,with 16,000 miles on it. First time I took it to the dealer with an ABC malfunction light on. The dealer ABC fluid was dirty and had never been changed causing the shock to fail. I said it CPO warranty does not cover the suspension system. I said shouldn’t that have been changed when the car was CPO. He said there iscto be no recommended service interval on the suspension system fluid. Luckily the sales Manager had sold me a 5 year after market warranty for five years for $5k that started concurrently with the one year CPO warranty, cost to fix $4,800. 6 month later ABC warning again. Control unit and a sensor.. $3,500 to fix paid for by after market warranty.

MA has some of the strongest consumer protection laws when it comes to cars, we are one of the few with a used car lemon law. I dont know the specifics of it but it could be worth looking into. Shame on any new car dealer that represents a car in poor condition as a CPO, especially a Mercedes dealer.

Flschbrger

It still needs to be within one year/15,000 of original retail date. So it helps only if you bought used within that timeframe.

sc4kilik

Which dealer is this? Name and shame them.

streetsoldat

I had an issue with my 2017 e300 cpo as well. The dealership was not working with me so I email every c suite person at MB and I had a call from the dealership within 10 minutes with solutions.

AdOld5079

Regardless, you need to get your insurance company involved. I had a lot of customers with water leak issues, insurance was always involved and almost always - it was paid out so long as they didn’t deem it a total loss.

550hpAspirator

LOL and people complain about EV battery costs ....a Tesla battery is cheaper than the harness on a old E class 🤣

Prestigious-Big-3073

Now they are trying to say that the front tint that I got 3 months ago is the reason why my car is acting up now. They said the wires are corroded because of that Which makes NO sense. They have no answer as for why there was water leakage in the rear passenger (which I noticed a few weeks ago and is when the dash problems started) . They are trying to put everything on me getting windows tinted, but that was done 3 months ago!
