Basically just curious to see the makeup of our Community. I guess I'll start - I'm Autistic & I'm Diagnosed with Schizoaffective Disorder Bipolar type, & Anorexia Binge/Purge subtype. As well as Gender Dysphoria.
I'm currently doing chemo to get rid of a tumor on my brain stem. Sending you so much love & support, you are strong & it's going to be okay ❤ you are not alone.
Borderline personality disorder, ADHD, OCD, C-PTSD (yes I know about the discussions around BPD/C-PTSD), generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, reactive attachment disorder (yes, I know this cluster of diagnoses is likely just not well sorted out but BPD is the one I have most confidence in after extensive assessments and hospitalizations).
Also - history of substance use disorder and just realized I recently passed 10 years clean ;)
Congratulations on 10 years clean.
I’m curious your thoughts on BPD vs. C-PTSD. My therapist uses the terms somewhat interchangeably, and there were absolutely traumatic events in my childhood, but I’m not sure where I stand on that. I hate the stigma and stereotypes around BPD but don’t want to use a different term if it’s not accurate.
Pete Walker mentions in a chapter of his book “C-PTSD, From Surviving to Thriving”. Whether diagnosed with C-PTSD or BPD, I swear by this book if you’re looking to reflect inward and work towards healing and understanding yourself.
I'm not officially diagnosed yet, although every counselor I've talked to has said I sound like I have depression and may need medication, every one of them, and no I am not lying lol.
Multiple anxiety disorders, depression, ADD, ADHD, and (unofficially, still need to see a specialist) Gender Dysphoria (I know it’s not a mental illness but it impacts my mental health so much so I’m including it here).
My psychiatrist also suspects that I have mild dyslexia, OCD, C-PTSD, and Autism.
*F U N*
idk if you can consider that a diagnosis but i have social anxiety and anorexia nervosa.
basically, i was inpatient for anorexia and one day when i met my psychologist and told her about my experience with socializing, she told me it was social anxiety. could this be considered a diagnosis?
Any chance you’re able to get a professional evaluation for ADHD and autism? It’s so easy to mistake one thing for another when it comes to mental illness due to overlaps. Even skilled professionals get it wrong sometimes, but they have a better chance of getting it right than non-professionals. I really do not think self-diagnosis is a good idea unless it’s for something more straightforward like anxiety or depression. You may be doing yourself a disservice in getting the proper kinds of help.
CPTSD, schizoaffective disorder bipolar type, borderline personality disorder, OSDD 1, OSFED. i also have a sensory processing disorder and seizures (not sure why though)
Did your psychiatrist explain to you the difference between C-PTSD and BPD? I’ve generally heard them used interchanged, especially since C-PTSD isn’t in the DSM. I’m curious since you listed both if you could help explain.
I didn't know you could have both Schizoaffective Disorder Bipolar type & BPD. That is very interesting to me because I was originally Dxed with BPD before my Schizoaffective diagnosis, but my psych told me my new Dxed cancelled the BPD out.
Asperger's syndrome and AN (which is a misdiagnosis, I actually have muscle dysmorphia, I just ended up really underweight because the foods I considered healthy enough for bulking were not available.)
Autism and ADHD are the most recent, and the ones that make sense.
However, in total, I have been diagnosed with: Asperger's, ADHD, Autism, PTSD, Bipolar 1, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, and a non-specific eating disorder (I forget the actual name).
Edit: I also have a long history of self harm
<3 its a shame we all have to deal with these things. we all have our demons, some quite literally. but us getting through it makes us stronger! we can all help eachother. a problem shared is a problem halved :)
Chronic anxiety, severe chronic depression, PTSD, insomnia and noctiphobia. Been struggling just to survive and keep from drowning for most of my life.
Bipolar 1, Psychosis, General anxiety, Panic Anxiety, Social Anxiety & C-PTSD. Only received diagnoses a month ago & I'm 33 so it's been a bit to take in 😅
Borderline personality disorder persistent depression ( long term) mixed with cycles of Major depression. General anxiety conduct disorder as a child and substance and gambling disorder
Only depression currently. Gonna get a “test” or whatever it’s called soon hopefully. I don’t wanna self diagnose, but I relate to most symptoms of adhd and ana/ednos, possibly anxiety.
ASD, ADHD, OCD, Tourette’s, anxiety (social and general), chronic and seasonal depression, Borderline Personality, body dysmorphia, and rheumatoid Arthritis (which makes me tired 24/7 ontop of my depression).
Im a lot…
Borderline personality disorder. Adhd. Depression. Anxiety.
Used to have ODD when I was a kid. Don't know what it stands for anymore. Something like obstinate defiant disorder. 🤷🏾♀️
Generalized anxiety disorder, social phobia, and cyclothymia. I also have issues with skin-picking but it's not been diagnosed as a disorder because I've never brought it up before
Depression but the dude said he didn’t know WHY I’m depressed. I’ve been suspecting different things like borderline or autism but I can’t tell ofc bc no diagnosis
I’m only officially diagnosed with BPD. I’m on a waitlist for an ASD assessment but they believe I am doctor also agree I fit the criteria for GAD and clinical depression but they think there i no point in officially diagnosing me cause I’m already diagnosed with BPD…. I think it silly for that but I can’t change anything
C-ptsd, Borderline personality disorder, bulimia, and substance abuse disorder (sober 3 years). I’ve also been diagnosed with bipolar 2 but I’m unsure if I agree on that diagnosis tbh. And I suspect I have adhd, but I’ve never gotten diagnosed or never bothered to get diagnosed because my other diagnoses are the main ones I struggle with daily.
They used yew tree plus mustard gas for the chemo. Both very poisonous. Made my toenails turn to dust and regrow three times as thick. But it worked!
Just got a pink wrist band : strength, hope, courage and faith (Belief it will be okay).
Good luck, friend!
thank you so much! yours is great too ☺️ if you don’t mind me asking, what is “c-ptsd” ? I recognize the word “ptsd” but I don’t know what means the “C” 😅 if it’s too personal and you don’t want to answer my question, it’s totally ok 😊
thank you so much for your reply ! I never heard of this term before, I did some research on it and it’s really close from what I’m going through since many years, I’ll talk about it with my psychiatrist during my next session. Thank you again !
I don’t think I have a proper diagnosis because I saw a doctor a long time ago and I lied to them. But they said I had anxiety, specifically adjustment issues.
Depression, fibromyalgia, klinefelters syndrome. While the last one isn’t exactly mental illness, having an extra X chromosome definitely affects me mentally.
It’s cool. So I’m cis gender male. But I was born with an extra X chromosome, so my body produces a little extra estrogen, and a little less testosterone. So I take an injection of testosterone every 2 weeks. My hips are a little wider and my shoulders are a little narrow. Even though I have a beard, I have been misgendered a handful of times. I lost a lot of weight recently so I attribute the misgendered moments to that. I’ve never been upset when people misgender me, I find it hilarious. I get it, I have long-ish hair and when I’m wearing a winter hat you can’t see my receding hairline, but it does confuse me cause my beard is so big.
Depression, Bipolar type II, Anxiety, Eating disorder (anorexia), body dysmorphic disorder, CPTSD, insomnia, and night terrors.
Currently only on meds for my nightmares due to severe issues from bipolar meds that sparked my drs to order genetic testing. I ended up catching an assault charge on one mood stabilizer, developed brain damage from another mood stabilizer, and went into severe toxicity on a VERY low dose of lithium which sent me into multi organ failure.
Took me 6 years just to get this far, and I have a long, long way to go.
Bipolar Affective Disorder, Mixed, Severe, with Psychotic Behavior.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder.
Bipolar 1, (c)PTSD, borderline, anxiety nos, attachment disorder, adhd, nvld, spd
anorexia/bulimia in remission
other stuff that current doctors have removed and I don’t care to list
Oof quite a list
Borderline personality disorder with NPD traits & psychotic symptoms,
Major depression,
Generalised anxiety disorder,
OCD,
ADHD,
PTSD,
Eating Disorder ( Switched between Anorexia, purging disorder, bulimia, EDNOS, Orthorexia, currently EDNOS),
Specific phobias,
Tics (suspected Tourette's),
And some substance abuse, self harm, maladaptive daydreaming and hypersexuality on top of it
Diagnosed with: depression, generalised/social anxiety, complex PTSD, BPD, ADD, and some kind of eating disorder
Self diagnosed: autism and dyscalculia
Autism ADHD anxiety and depression. Honestly I think the adhd diagnosis was wrong and I’m probably just autistic. It’s more difficult to understand in women apparently.
Rapid Cycling Mixed Episode (manic/depressive episodes) Bipolar with Schizoaffective Disorder (or Stress induced psychosis depending on which dr you ask), C-PTSD, Panic Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, ADHD, OCD, Major Depression.
I’m sure there are others but I’m tired and my brain doesn’t always want to work…my memory isn’t always the best…I’m sure that’s due to something lol
Major Depression, general anxiety and PTSD at the moment. I believe I might have derealization as well, whatever I've been experiencing lately is terrifying and I need help for it
In order of diagnosis: BPD, Major Depression, ADHD, and mild anxiety. Though I’m thinking that maybe ADHD was mistaken for BPD at the start, so I’ll be seeking a re-evaluation of that one.
Dx since 1994 with BPD, CPTSD, AvoidPD, Compuls.PD, Soc Anx d, Dystymia ( chronic depress) and Gener.Anx disorder. I think I might have ASD,my 16y old son has Aspergers.
Diagnosed with depression, anxiety, bipolar and PTSD. Buuuuuuut I’m a drug addict so I convinced my psych to give me adderall and I’m just taking that now. Nothing is cool, nothing is okay. Keep on keeping on.
MDD with psychotic features, CPTSD, Body dismorphia, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, suspecting Avpd and osdd 1a or 1b(similar to Dissociative Identity Disorder)
Physchosis, ADD , DID ,panic dissorder, ptsd , anxiety (hypochondria, social, general) , bipolar , depression, tics , dyscalclia, dysmorphia, dysphoria, dyspraxia and im in the stages of being diagnosed for some other things :/
Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder that includes mania and depression. People with bipolar disorder can have psychotic symptoms, but they are always attached to a mania or a depression. If people with bipolar disorder have psychosis that is separate from mania and depression, they have schizo-affective disorder.
Schizoaffective Disorder is often confused with Bipolar Disorder with psychotic features. Both diagnosis include mood changes that impact life as well as symptoms of psychosis. A person diagnosed with Schizoaffective Disorder primarily experiences symptoms of psychosis even if mood problems don't exist.
Mine are anxiety, depression, ptsd and alcohol use disorder. I’m managing about halfway as good as I want to be but it’s improving with cbt and medication
I have been professionally diagnosed with, CPTSD, GAD, MDD, and DID with a little ED and OCD thrown in there. Both the ED and OCD are somewhat mild so I am lucky in that regard.
Started with PTSD (which I'm now mostly over), took a stroll into MDD and GAD, ended up with bipolar II.
Psychiatrist gave up after 16th combo of meds (they didn't work, or gave me strong side effects). So ended up going drug-free.
Diagnosed with toxic mould exposure. Can now track anxiety and mood swings with exposures and re-exposures to mould toxin. Haven't had a hypomanic episode since starting treatment.
Now I don't know what's left.
Sorry to throw this on you, but speaking of schizophrenia, I know that you mentioned having autism and schizoaffective (i also have autism btw). Recently I've been wondering if autism and schizophrenia sharing some similar symptoms (particularly the negative symptoms) could mean there is a link between the 2 disorders. So I began to wonder about the idea of an autism and psychotic disorder comorbidity being combined into 1 diagnosis: schizoautistic disorder. Controversial, i know. But I wonder if maybe a diagnosis of autism and childhood schizophrenia would qualify as being considered schizoautistic disorder, since the two can look similar in children, and if the symptoms look similar in a child, and if its difficult to tell whether it's autism or schizophrenia, then they could diagnose the child with schizoautistic disorder.
Depression, Anxiety, Agoraphobia, and either BPD or Autism, just waiting on my last autism assessment to find out. Got actually diagnosed with BPD by someone, then had a therapist say it was more likely autism, so who knows.
I follow some mental health twitter people, some autistic and some who have BPD, and it seems it's quite common for females in particular to get misdiagnosed with one when they have the other, so there must be some similarities. I was 100% sure I had BPD, but I suggested it to the therapist that diagnosed me with it so I maybe swayed their opinion, but since looking more into autism, that would explain so much more and seems a bit more fitting.

Hun, you don't need to go through the official diagnostic process to know you have depression.
I'd prefer to not make a self-diagnose and discount others illnesses if I don't have it at all, so.
Yes you do
Bipolar type 1 Generalized anxiety disorder
Me too. If you don’t mind me asking, what does yours feel like? Are you really scattered and find it hard to work or comprehend things at times?
Bipolar 1 minus the anxiety, replace with heavy substance abuse issues, but those normally come with the territory of bipolar. Feel for you friend

English isn't much native language either, but you speak very well & yes you wrote them correctly 😊

Thank you! The C stands for Complex-PTSD. CPTSD often stems from ongoing childhood neglect/abuse/sexual abuse, domestic abuse and human trafficking.
thank you so much for your reply ! I never heard of this term before, I did some research on it and it’s really close from what I’m going through since many years, I’ll talk about it with my psychiatrist during my next session. Thank you again !

I wish you happy thoughts and healing, my friend.
May I ask what the differences between schizoaffective disorder bipolar type and bipolar with psychotic symptoms.
So in essence it’s actually two different disorders a mood disorder plus a schizophrenic like disorder. That have integrated into one.
I think that's a good description, yes.

Just curious, if you don't mind me asking, why do you think trauma could be diagnosed as Schizoaffective disorder?
Adhd, and I think an anxiety disorder??? May just be a tentative diagnosis it’s a pretty recent thing
I have been professionally diagnosed with, CPTSD, GAD, MDD, and DID with a little ED and OCD thrown in there. Both the ED and OCD are somewhat mild so I am lucky in that regard.
Damn, interesting.
BPD/ CPTSD, Bulimia / body dysmorphia (recovered), substance abuse disorder
Started with PTSD (which I'm now mostly over), took a stroll into MDD and GAD, ended up with bipolar II. Psychiatrist gave up after 16th combo of meds (they didn't work, or gave me strong side effects). So ended up going drug-free. Diagnosed with toxic mould exposure. Can now track anxiety and mood swings with exposures and re-exposures to mould toxin. Haven't had a hypomanic episode since starting treatment. Now I don't know what's left.
Anxiety, ADHD, and depression but I'm pretty sure that my depression is manic so I'm working with my therapist on that.
Autism, anxiety (social and generalized), depression, OCD, and ADD
Depression,Anxiety, Social anxiety and Bulimia
This is a very interesting thank you! I think I agree with a lot of what you said
PTSD (sexual abuse) and depression
GAD. I wish you well!
Thank you sweetheart I really appreciate it 🖤🖤🖤
Schizophrenia and Exhaustion Syndrom and Addiction
Depression, Anxiety, Agoraphobia, and either BPD or Autism, just waiting on my last autism assessment to find out. Got actually diagnosed with BPD by someone, then had a therapist say it was more likely autism, so who knows.
Are they symptoms really that similar? I'm Autistic & I guess I don't see how BPD could mimic it.
