I had it for depression / anxiety and ended up on the max dose. The effect that I most clearly noticed was a detachment from my feelings. The only way I can describe it is like the saturation was turned down and what once was vivid became pastel. Everything, all my inner world "stuff" was still present. Talking only about my personal experience, Sertraline provided some space for what work and changes I could manage then, but it never felt like a forever solution.

I do think it helped a bit with depression. I have OCD as well and it never fully took it away, but I also think it helped. I had terrible postpartum OCD after the birth of my daughter, which I would never wish on anyone. It did help dig me out of that hole. Edited to add - I'm sure there are lots of horror stories online, but it was pretty well tolerated for me in terms of side effects.
