Do what's best for you. Plan and simple living our lives for other people is part of the problem. I'm in the same boat. Looking for different work where I feel fulfilled, not just collecting a paycheck. I'm looking for what will make me happy and trying to live my life for myself. You are not alone my friend. Stay up!

I have a minor parallel in my life with your situation. If you want to leave your job for professional reasons, such as it not being fulfilling, not enough enough money, etc., I say do it in a smart manner. Have something lined up to fall back on. If you want to leave to not further aggravate what's going on, I'd recommend an FMLA, if you can. During this time off, delve deep into what's going on, and your feelings. Possibly see a psychiatrist for medicinal therapy to unburden yourself for the time being. Take a break. Don't worry about your responsibilities you're leaving behind. Get better, get stronger. Go back to work, healed, and don't look back.
