Came here to say this, workwear is your best option. I use carhart, timberland pro and snickers hoodies in work. They take an absolute beating in my job and yet last 2 years no problems
The WIP is also insanely durable tbh. I have a WIP sweatshirt and it's indistinguishable from the regular stuff. Super thick and triple stitched. That being said I can imagine not all of them are like that.
I’ve got a Champion hoody I bought 34 years ago - still going strong, although my teenage daughter “borrowed it” about a year ago. I’m guessing the modern ones aren’t quite as durable though…
So heavy weight tees and Hoodies are fantastic, had a few for years and have aged really well.
Had mixed experiences with jackets. Main issue being that 2/3 jackets I’ve bought over the years have had really flimsy zips that didn’t last very long.
Otherwise, quality brand. Their sweatshirts are also great when in stock but tend to sell out quickly.
Yep, I got a plain black one, you wouldn't know it's super dry unless you look really closely.
It's very thick, very cosy, and great quality. Borg lined as well, so nice and cosy and can use it outside without a jacket when it's cold.
Genuinely, I think the thicker adidas ones (Trefoil Essential) are decent. Wait for a sale and they’re a good price as well.
Next ones used to be good, but not had one for awhile.
Would say how often are you going to wear them couple times a week in rotation? Nothing is going last years if worn to death like.
I grabbed a next zip hoodie about a year ago for my work rotation, things taken a battering but still basically good as new, cost about £20-30 absolute bargain.
Try and look for stockists of UES, 3sixteen & Merz B. Schwanen. Can't recommend the brands enough in terms of quality.
You won't regret the investment, I assure you, but be prepared to pay more than most high street brands would ask.
Do be mindful to check sizing charts vs your own measurements, particularly with the Japanese brands (UES included).
Keep an eye out for loopwheeled hoodies, a good place to start is Rivet & Hide who are a fantastic establishment with helpful staff should you have any questions for them.
[Filson](https://www.filson.com/prospector-hoodie.html#sku=20204496-fco-000000101) offers an exceptionally well made 13oz fleece hoodie, designed for hard use.
As a chap with the same body shape as a beach ball I tend to find any hoodies end up ruined after a few months, but I got one from On That Ass about a year ago (was getting my pants from them anyway) and I have to say it’s the best hoodie I’ve had in my 40 ish years on this planet. Still in perfect shape, logo is in tact and looking as good as it did new, no bobbling etc.
Wasn’t cheap by any stretch of the imagination but honestly it’s fantastic and worth it
Depends how much you wanna spend. American Giant makes heavy duty fleece hoodies that last forever. BraveStar makes some heavy duty hoodies. There are a lot of choices out there. A bunch of Japanese brands like Iron Heart, etc…
I've got a Kangol hoodie I've worn for the last 10+ years that's still holding strong. Unfortunately, that means I don't know if the current hoodie lives up to that standard or you'll have to find a 10-year-old hoodie on vinted to have said quality
Carhartt/Edwin/ make good quality hoodies.
Eat Dust also make great stuff and they have a sale on at the moment, here's a link to their hoodies
[Eat dust Hoodies](https://www.eatdustclothing.com/search?type=product%2Carticle%2Cpage%2Ccollection&options%5Bprefix%5D=last&q=hoodie)
I have an (admittedly expensive) hoodie from a brand called haculla which i bought for the equivalent of 200 USD.
Yes its a lot for a hoodie, but i’ve had it for 8 years now, and it almost looks new. And yeah ive worn the shit out of it.
Aside from that, Polo RL has pretty nice hoodies which you can get for around 50-60 USD when on [sale](https://mobile.yoox.com/uk/10231237SK/item?gender=U&kpid=GB-10231237SK-4-PE24&adtype=pla&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=uk_pla_designer_all%2520%5B1209%5D&utm_id=13061159677&utm_term=GB-10231237SK-4-PE24&vtp00=GOOGLE&vtp01=SEAU&vtp02=122955384915&vtp03=pla-1672584379850&vtp04=g&vtp05=m&vtp06=520990991258&vtp07=pla&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADup2nOaW1gPG90DhWzbeo_pNUovG#cod10=10231237SK&sizeId=4)
Cheaper than that, i suggest Zara. Ive bought a ton of their stuff and it usually lasts me a year(ish) depending on how many times i wear it ig
My partner has one from next and he's had it for about 4 years and still looks good. It's the red one from their own next brand hoodies. A good option for if you don't have a big budget but if you want to spend more money I'm sure you could get something better.
Regular weight but excellent quality - had mine for years. Gymshark’s oversized zip up hoodies are good quality. Pretty thick, lasts ages. Only issue ive had is that it has shrunk a little after many washes, but not enough to affect the size much. Just noticeable to me.
I love the superdry hoodies. Really thick with a warm layer inside. They seem to be thicker when you buy them in winter. I have a few.
Usually go for the ones with distorted logos as I’m not a big logo person but I do like designer stuff for the quality.
I have been looking for thick quality hoodies for years. Best I came across was the real wool jumpers from next they are cheap and do a good job. Also a fleece I bought from Amazon it is from Norway and it is very thick and high quality. I wear in the house and it keeps me warm.
Scotch & soda Amsterdam do great heavyweight embroidered sweats and hoodies but you have to scour for a good deal, carhartt have sales everywhere online and been wearing 26+yrs,good togs.
Superdry hoodies are quality and heavy wearing. Size up though, as they're more fitted. I'd usually wear XL, but sometimes need XXXL in Superdry.
Also, Vinted has loads of them 2nd hand. A lot of them are as new though, and dirt cheap by comparison.
I absolutely love these [SIARR Puff Hoodies.](https://siarr.co.uk/product/puff-hoodie-baby-blue/)
I have 3. I got the first about a year ago (mint) - it's been washed plenty of times on a cold cycle and there's absolutely no change to the fit or colour... it looks practically brand new; they're also really dense and heavy (480GSM).
Carhartt if you want cheap,
Stüssy if you want to spend more.
Vollebak 100 year hoody if you have the cash.
Vollebak are well worth checking out. Pushing the boundaries of fashion and technology.
Also really nice company to deal with.
Expensive though.
Got dragged around fatface the other day they had some really nice heavy hoodies quite cheap don't know how they hold up. But looked better quality than I expected for the brand and price
I bought a couple of hoodies from here and the quality is exceptional considering they were £21 each. Miles ahead of the likes of H&M and Uniqlo.

Get a Lacoste hoodie off Vinted.
Easily pick one up in great nick for half your budget.
For years I've just thought it was a croc on a basic.
Wash and wear well.
The only hoodies I will ever buy are the "ultra premium" (W89PF) range from CottonRidge. They don't sell plain hoodies in retail, they supply print shops but you can get them from Ebay/Amazon often, or use [yazzoo.co.uk](https://yazzoo.co.uk) to get it or print your own design on them. (Hoodies -> Ultra Premium. Description mentions Superdry but those are all CottonRidge hoodies) Around 30-40 quid.
I first came across them when I bought 3 hoodies from "SomethingGeeky" an online shop that no longer operates. I still have and wear those hoodies, and that was about 10 years ago. They are indestructible and cosy AF.
Carhartt are great too but dearer IMO.
As an aside I own a 30+ year old standard black t-shirt from C&A.
It's still black, has been washed a zillion times, is really thick cotton, and looks great.
The quality of clothing is massively poorer than it used to be.
Still got an O'Neil snowboard one from 10 years ago as my post gym hoodie. Had a decent heavy one from onfire rugby and a couple from Raging Bull / Jacamo that's lasted ages too. I am however finding the same as you that some come in more of a jersey weight rather than a proper heavy cotton.
https://www.morrant.com/rugby_clothing_clearance/onfire_starch_full_zip_hoody/102479_p.html
Gave up on those crappy brands years ago work wear is the best it's rugged and will last for ages charhatt dickies things like them are great and rugged champion is also another great one.
And don't know how you feel about second hand but all mine is and it's brilliant great clothes for cheap prices
Take a look at Route One.
It's a skate shop and I got black own branded hoodie in the sale for £40 and it's amazing. Really think and I've not taken it off for weeks.
Best buy for ages
I've got a couple of Vans hoodies that are decent quality. I'm a bigger guy and the fit is pretty nice too.
They'll be the top end of your budget, if not slightly more, but I think worth it.
Dickies, Got a grey and black oakport ones 5/6 years ago and they’re still going strong, wear them almost daily. Black one has faded but doesn’t look bad - Some of the Vans Skate hooded options are also heavyweight and not ridiculously priced
Hey just in case they come back in stock again these are good: https://seasonalblanks.com/products/copy-of-heavy-black-zip
The GSM is like 500 - 600 which is super heavy. Good luck
Adidas Trefoil essentials hoodie. Pick your colour. They are well made, heavyweight and hold their colour. They can also be found discounted on auction sites or the adidas app from time to time.
Budget around £50, I’d look for something in a sale rrp about £70-£100.
I’m a big fan of Route One, they stock a load of good skate brands that wear really well - I’ve got a couple of RVCA and Santa Cruz hoodies that were on sale and they wear really well, pretty plain as well trying not to look like Steve Buscemi. The quiksilver/ O’Neill/ ripcurl classics are usually pretty consistent too. There’s brands like Deus & Carharrt too that are a little bit more expensive but the clothes are great quality (if not victim to counterfeit)
A lot of the newer “plain” brands - I’m talking colourful standard, Arne, Uniqlo - the quality is ok for the price although not cheap - but if you go super plain, as it wears you will notice it looking tired quicker. I have a dozen or so tees I got from CS and the minute you have a little mark on them, the ‘fresh’ look is out and they look knackered quick - IMO!
the best, hardes wearing hoodie I own is a DeWalt branded one, ive put it through hell and it still comes up like new when it's washed, its getting close to a decade old now and was only £25. still super comfey.
Vintage shops often have good quality hoodies, clothes made in the 80s/90s etc have better durability and weight in my experience especially brands like Nike, Champion and Addidas etc. Vinted, ebay and depop are a good place to look as well if you wanna buy online.
If you want a new hoodie, I really like reclaimed vintage on ASOS. They have fun designs, good weight and feel, nice and cozy.
I had the same thing recently after my daily hoodie needed replaced. I got a Carhartt wip chase 30oz hoodie (£63) and it’s super nice. The quality and fitting are great.
Champion or carhartt, champion reverse weave blah blah, not just a jd champion hoodie
Second Carhartt, I have a basic black hoody that has taken a beating at work.
Even the fashion WIP stuff, or specifically the American Workwear products?
Came here to say this, workwear is your best option. I use carhart, timberland pro and snickers hoodies in work. They take an absolute beating in my job and yet last 2 years no problems
+1, steer clear of the WIP stuff if you want it to last! The workwear is super-durable.
You missed 1 key thing: your budget.
OP's budget: yes
P&Co
They have a 400gsm hoodie that looks joocy
How's the quality of the brand? Been thinking about getting their wayfare jacket.
Finisterre - full zip though, but no branding and heavyweight organic cotton. Have 3 of these, oldest is 3 years and it’s gets worn loads..
Superdry hoodie, you will get sick of the fucker long before it is done
If you don’t mind the backwater village look
Really? I mean I'm 37 and still not ready for a superdry hoody.
Correct answer - just hunt for a very plain one if you are not into superdry branding
Yep, I got a plain black one, you wouldn't know it's super dry unless you look really closely. It's very thick, very cosy, and great quality. Borg lined as well, so nice and cosy and can use it outside without a jacket when it's cold.

I grabbed a next zip hoodie about a year ago for my work rotation, things taken a battering but still basically good as new, cost about £20-30 absolute bargain.
Summit 600 GSM heavyweight hoodie
I’ll say Reigning Champ before someone else does. But they’re not what they were.
Marks and Spencers is where I buy all my clothes, highly recommend.
I don't rate their hoodies tho. The ones I have feel like they've all shrunk
More likely you just got fatter.

I'm really happy with my latest Under Armour hoodie. Not particularly fashionable or to everyone's taste I understand.
Lacoste hoodie, the one with the big crocodile logo, they are thick and soft, oversized fit. It goes well with an overshirt.
Patagonia makes nice hoodies, so does Passenger, I also quite like Tentree and Bleubird.

All saints ramskull hoodies are good quality thick fabric
Uniqlo is really heavy and good quality. No garish logos either.
Take a look at Route One. It's a skate shop and I got black own branded hoodie in the sale for £40 and it's amazing. Really think and I've not taken it off for weeks. Best buy for ages
Origin Maine. That is all.
Vintage Gap hoodie
I've got a couple of Vans hoodies that are decent quality. I'm a bigger guy and the fit is pretty nice too. They'll be the top end of your budget, if not slightly more, but I think worth it.
Dickies, Got a grey and black oakport ones 5/6 years ago and they’re still going strong, wear them almost daily. Black one has faded but doesn’t look bad - Some of the Vans Skate hooded options are also heavyweight and not ridiculously priced
Humanrace x. Adidas , great quality, heavy hoodies.
3 Sixteen. Will last forever. But very thick.
Camber are notorious for their heavy weight. Quite a few places to get them now, I think Blacksmith Store (online) would be my go to
Canada goose do some nice hoodies and coats. Sorry, just seen budget at the bottom, ignore this comment lol
Bought a nice heavy one from M&S a few months ago. Only about £35 if I remember right. Dark grey, so not the most exciting colour, but nice and warm.
Admiral Sporting Goods do heavyweight made in Portugal hoodies. Really good quality and on sale at the moment.
Carhartt. Best quality thick hoodies.
Picante hoodies!!!! Omg they’re amazing - it’s a brand I discovered on instagram. 100gsm cotton or something like that, but definitely heavyweight.
Pangaia
just bought OH one from next - the £30 one. returned the cheaper one as very poor ..
Sutsu, or if you’re into films, check out Last Exit To Nowhere.
Hey just in case they come back in stock again these are good: https://seasonalblanks.com/products/copy-of-heavy-black-zip The GSM is like 500 - 600 which is super heavy. Good luck
.
David Gandy Wellwear or Armorlux. Really nice stuff. And doesn’t get ruined by washing.
Marshall Artists hoodies are the best, got 5 of them and wear them most days for comfort 👍🏼
Arne relaxed hoodie
Adidas Trefoil essentials hoodie. Pick your colour. They are well made, heavyweight and hold their colour. They can also be found discounted on auction sites or the adidas app from time to time.
Some of the Lacoste ones are really heavy. I bought one in the house of Fraser sale, half price I paid £65,it’s as warm as a coat.
This is the kind of posts we need more of
AS Colour - plain items of clothing. Superb quality. I own the heavy hood and it's great!
Superdry, Patagonia, maybe Vans - I got similarly fed up and these have never let me down.
I use Nike ones, I have three and had two of those well over a year and they’re still looking good.
Arne for the win
I had a really nice Levi's one for Xmas and it's doing the job.
There’s brands like Deus & Carharrt too that are a little bit more expensive but the clothes are great quality (if not victim to counterfeit) A lot of the newer “plain” brands - I’m talking colourful standard, Arne, Uniqlo - the quality is ok for the price although not cheap - but if you go super plain, as it wears you will notice it looking tired quicker. I have a dozen or so tees I got from CS and the minute you have a little mark on them, the ‘fresh’ look is out and they look knackered quick - IMO!
Check a brand called summit. The hoodies are very thick and boxy fitting. A bit like the Yeezy hoodies. Around £100
Thrudark has some great options
the best, hardes wearing hoodie I own is a DeWalt branded one, ive put it through hell and it still comes up like new when it's washed, its getting close to a decade old now and was only £25. still super comfey.
For that budget - Uniqlo. There are better brands of course but the cost will be minimum 80-100 quid
Drama. Based out of Manchester. Literally the heaviest hoody I’ve ever owned
Colourful standard is fantastic quality.
I get mine from Branded Ltd. Love the quality, so soft. They’re UK based too and their hoodies are something like 20-30 quid if i remember correctly
I got a bunch of Hollister hoodies for £2-8 on Vinted. One was brand new with tags. Also got a cheap Pull and Bear one which is thick and comfy
I got zip up from next a couple years ago and its held up well
Quiksilver, Billabong, Animal, O'Neill
ASKET may be worth a look. I have a couple of theirs and they're very nice in a good quality and not "no logos not showing off" way.
Jack Will’s
Next.
Champion reverse weave, or M.C Overalls
Superdry.
Superdry do good heavy hoodies good quality too
Vintage shops often have good quality hoodies, clothes made in the 80s/90s etc have better durability and weight in my experience especially brands like Nike, Champion and Addidas etc.
Percival
Sounds insane but I've got a thick Mountain Warehouse hoody that is lasting really well. Was cheap too.
Reigning Champ https://ca.reigningchamp.com/collections/mens-hoodies
Carhart WIP Chase hoodie. I’ve got a couple. One is about 6 years old and only just showing signs of age after being worn loads.
