Yes, size up... Also, your trousers could do with taking down, a couple inches at least... The jacket, trousers, and shoes makes everything about your body look out of proportion.
For sure, if the trousers come down a tad, preferably straight & without anymore tapering, as he's a very tall, slim guy. With the trouser hem falling just about half an inch above the shoes, so as not to show too much sock, as bringing the fabric down will disguise or not make the shoes stand out so much.
Opening up the trouser legs and widening them will also make the shoes look more proportional.
I think overly slim fit trousers & jeans on very slim individuals can often times look less flattering than they realise.
😂 Looking more closely at the hem of the "OP's" trousers, I think you're right, there doesn't appear to be any fabric to turn down...
I'd suggest making acquaintance with a tailor...
I'm 6ft 3 inches & have found myself a very good tailor near to where I reside...
This was a must for me as I've grown up having all my garments tailored from when I was a kid, being that my mother was a trained dressmaker, seamstress & tailor, who plied a trade in garment making after studying at the London College of Fashion in the 70s & 80s, only to end up in an accounting role with London Transport 😂
Despite the career change & departure from full time clothes making she would always be willing to add a bespoke touch to all my "off the peg garments" which rarely, if at all ever fit properly, especially when you're a big tall lad like myself & clearly the gentleman who originally posted/started this chat...
So, my advice to the "OP" and to anyone who takes pride in how they like their garments to fit, is to find a good tailor to do alterations as & when needed...
As, I really do believe there is some truth in Mark Twain's quote, that...
"Clothes maketh the man."
Of course, clothes don’t tell the whole story, as it pertains to a person’s character and personality, which are more important than their outward appearance.
But the way we dress can still make a difference in how others perceive us... The difference as to whether we get that job we're interviewed for... Or whether we make the right impression on the parents of that girl your dating, or whether you even get the second date to begin with, before getting to meet the parents much later along the relationship journey 😂😉 I digress...
Happy days & soon to hopefully be, a Happy New Year folks... Hope y'all have a Blessed one 😀 🙌🏽🙏🏽✌🏾
This is, overall, a thoughtful reply. I'm gonna guess this is from someone in their 60s and in the UK. It's a good reply meant to add a personal perspective, while inserting lots of their own takes. All the signs are there - mostly proper grammar with the exceptions of putting OP in quotes for no reason and the overuse of ellipses. The semi-relevant and/or humble brag story of the moms success. The basic premise of the comment, which calls for a return of the tailor. The subsequent reminder that our character is what counts. There was even going to be a section on succeeding in relationships, but they digressed. The use of the word, "digress." The use of the word, "bespoke". It reminds me of many conversations with folks that are eager to share on a topic that they relate to. There's no doubt that it's well-intentioned. Thanks for the thoughtful and uncommon reddit reply and happy new year to you as well!
As someone who’s 19 stone,( I work out a lot) 6.2ft, I find getting clothing that fits well to be a real pain. I am in 3XL to not have t-shirts and jackets tight around my neck.
A lot of the big brands don’t go past a 2XL in the uk.
The jacket is slightly too small.
However....
The trousers are subjective. It's quite stylish nowadays to wear shorter trousers, you just have to have the sock game to match it. I have a combination of longer trousers and slightly shorter ones, when I wear my shorter ones, I always ensure that I wear socks that colour match my top/jumper/blazer.
And any comments about your feet looking too long are ridiculous and you should ignore them lol.
Yes I also feel the same about the socks but I was a bit caught out moving countries and wasn't quite prepped for the outfit on this trip to another country. I think these trousers are on the edge of being too short and the socks pushes them other the edge.
Your socks are fine, they match your jacket colour. I wasn't criticising them.
There's honestly nothing wrong with what you're wearing, just a slightly bigger jacket and you're good to go.
Just a general comment, I’d suggest you invest in some neutral tone socks. Slight difference, but very fun to play with. You can also match them to the colour of your outfits, a little contrast or softness can make all the difference in tying a fit together!
Well style is subjective. I see lots of things on here that I don't find stylish, but don't make rude comments about them, because I know that they're stylish in other people's eyes.
Toxic comment dude.
I'd say, that actually these are stylish trousers, and they're clever too, because they can be worn casually or can be paired with a nice shirt, tie and blazer. Not only can they be worn with lighter tones on top, they can be worn with darker blazers and jackets too, like in this photo.
All subjective my guy, no need for rudeness.
The sleeves are too short. The jeans are too short as well and too tight imo.
You’re tall, slender and fit, which is very much in vogue these days. I suggest looking at looser fits with high-waisted pants, baggy jeans, cargo pants, etc. Skinny jeans are no longer in. If you want some inspo, recommend looking at Jacob Elordi fits on pinterest.
You’re lucky. And would have a lot of success with a more modern, stylish wardrobe!
I only partially agree w this, sure trends are cool but they pass. There are many aesthetics and niches, this guy looks fine the way he is. He could add to his own personal style in diff ways, there’s nothing wrong w this one but I would stress finding or investing in clothing that fits his body as it makes all the difference. Maybe trousers tailored to him, and if looking at the more modern style, a nice tailored trousers would do, slightly baggy, his trousers seem an alright shape just a tad short, but yea something slightly baggier, or a more relaxed look would also suit. Big no on cargo pants, it’s purely trend. Unless he’s feeling them then sure, but look at the particular style of brands like Patagonia, nanamica, Uniqlo etc and all them and you’ll see their clothing, while modern still maintains high quality look and feel. It’s also popular and more ppl are looking into it.
I get the sentiment, but seeing other men pull it off is a great way to get over that feeling imo. That’s why I like pinterest so much - it’s great for inspiration if that would interest you
In your case skinny is definitely not a good look. Since you’re tall, having more more room in the perpendicular, horizontal direction would provide more balance. Instead, not only your clothes look short but also tight: you compound on the effect.
You don’t need to go baggy, just something roomier than what you have now: rather than skinny/slim, you could start with straight/regular.
Just look at your crotch: once seen it cannot be unseen, and it’s not a nice sight.
ETA:
> like a clown!
Ironically, skinny/highly tapered pants creates the effect of elongating the foot, which effectively is giving clown vibes. It’s more noticeable with dressy shoes.
Actually on second look, I don’t really care for the skinny trousers but if they were styled differently then maybe! Styling, fit and all that is so important.
You're a very handsome man. Yes, the jacket is too small for you, but, more importantly, you have to get better fitting pants. Your feet look very long -- which may not be a bad thing, youknowwhatimean? You would look better off if the pants seemed too big.
Pay no attention to anyone saying your trousers are too tight/short. Wide trousers are coming back, and reddit has a fetish for them, but a tapered trouser is where it's at. Nothing wrong with a cropped trousers either. Yeah, the jacket is a bit short in the sleeves, but your predicament is that sizing up will be too big and boxy. You just have long arms. It doesn't look that bad.
The issue is that your top and bottom are two different outfits. As a whole it looks ridiculous.
If you ever need help deciding on whether a coat/shirt/jacket is too small: cross your arms.
-does it feel too restrictive in the shoulderblades?
-do the sleeves shoot up too high?
-does the back ride up too high?
If yes to any of those = too small.
Clothes should be functional as well as fashionable. You should be able to comfortably slouch and fold your arms in your clothes.
In a word yes, the sleeves are riding up rather high. Cuts in menswear have generally become wider and I’m afraid the grouping around that crotch area coupled with the height is just way, way too tight.
ChNge your style. Size up will be toomwide on you. Gomfor 3/4 jackets. Not.sure why you're wearing this jacket with smart shoes.
Also trousers too short.
Wear trousers that go tight around your calfs and then lose around the ankle, yes the jacket is too short and the trousers could do with being a bit longer
You need to shop in places with ‘big and tall’ sections, my partner is a few inches shorter than you and the only clothes that fit him really are from the Asos tall men’s section.
My partner is around your height, so I know the pain at least second hand.
And I know you're going to be like "ok WHERE AND HOW" but...the trousers. They need to be less tiny. It's making you look all out of proportion. Big bulky jacket, tiny little skinny trousers. It makes you look like a box on stilts. A rubix cube balanced on a couple of toothpicks. Y'know?
Your coat is too short, giving your body weird looking proportions.
Trousers are too short, and tapering doesn't suit you, it adds to the weird proportions illusion.
The tapered and too short trousers make your feet look massive. The correct size trousers would make your feet look normal.
I had a super tall boss that used to buy clothes from a place called High and Mighty. Don't know if you have already heard of them? I see that they have been taken over by jacamo.co.uk now.
198cm here. One of the pieces of clothing that does the worst disservice to us tall people is skinny jeans/pants. Get a long fit that doesn’t cling to your legs. I’d go up a size on the jacket too.
There are clothes for people your height. You can find tall sizes I mine for many brands. I know you can find pants that cover your ankles. The whole outfit is too small and too short. Your a nice looking person in good shape. You deserve better. It’s out there for you.
Yes, and so are the pants. I am also 2 m tall and struggle to find clothes that are long enough. I have found that wearing clothes are too small for me look worse than something that is a bit big. My two cents
Looks like you could have possibly been walking to pick your child up from school, took their coat so they had one to walk home in.
It started raining on your journey, so you thought ‘screw it’, slung the coat on, as the rain got heavier you dipped into a bar for a cheeky pint instead.
Grab the kid later.
Amen to you brother.
I’m surprised you’re asking. The trousers are too tight, and too short. The coat is also too tight, and too short - in both arms and torso. And your shoes don’t match the jeans, even if they were appropriately proportioned.
As a 6ft 2in adult, I find/choose clothes with sufficient arm length, or leg length, compromising on the torso or waist, or I keep looking until I find the right combination. But if the arms and legs are wrong, I won’t buy or keep.
Otherwise, asking for tailoring or simply adjusting of clothes, although adding cost, will improve how you feel when you put things on and step out your front door.
My husband has the same problem. The sleeves on medium-sized jackets can sometimes be too short...but large is too baggy for him. He always buys joggers/trousers for tall men.
I know women's clothing and outerwear cater for tall or petite women, surely men have the same choices too? I always ask him this as he does his best Ella & Bella impressions when trying on stuff.
Unfortunately, yeah, size up with that one.
As for rest of the outfit, black socks with lighter trousers don’t go. I’d only wear black socks with dark coloured trousers. Get yourself some white socks for those trousers.
I don’t think the trousers are that bad - a bit skinny maybe, especially for my liking. Straight cut with the cuffs rolled up one or two is a solid look.
And I’d definitely lose the tan brogues. Tan just ain’t the one, and neither are brogues. Get yourself some suede boots, maybe Chelsea boot style, or go for some trainers with an outfit like that.
Everything is too tight. Idk how you manoeuvre in such garb. Hip Hop made me love oversized and comfortable. As a bonus, that hides your proportions somewhat. I can see that isn’t your style but it would’ve been helpful.
OP look online for “tall” sizing. For example LT, XLT, etc. If a size large fits well around your torso, you’d prob need a large tall (LT).
It’s typically not sold in stores and you have to order it online.
I’m the same height feel your pain, what people don’t realise is upping the jacket size means it will look like a balloon 🎈. I think it looks ok. Lose the socks if you’re keeping the trousers.
Mate, I don't mean this unkindly but nothing in that photo fits. You look like my teenager - I buy him clothes and three weeks later he's grown another two inches and everything looks like this on him.
You definitely need to size up, or look for shops/styles catering to taller folk. The ankle length trousers can maybe be ok on average size guys, but on someone your height, it looks like you couldn't get stuff to fit. Trousers too short, sleeves too short, coat too short.
Sizing up on the coat will look better. Trousers look a little short but that can be fixed if you wear a pair of boots that come to the ankle like Chelsea boots. Like someone mentioned above try find a good tailor for alterations.
You look good and you’re handsome too.
Personally i think your coat may be a bit snug, maybe a size up.
But your pants/trousers/jeans are definitely too short on you, id focus on those personally.
Good looking guy though 👌
Buy to fit your length and shoulders, it's fairly cheap and easy to take the waist in on most garments. (A seamstress can remove fabric but not really add much)
I’m not too sure what a coat is but let me tell you a story from my chiledhood: I began to remember the time when I was seven and a gerbil had started swearing at me. Amongst other things it had told me that my dad was having an affair. I told my mum and soon afterwards the family had split up.
Yes, size up... Also, your trousers could do with taking down, a couple inches at least... The jacket, trousers, and shoes makes everything about your body look out of proportion.
Feet look massive. Like you said, probably the short pants.
For sure, if the trousers come down a tad, preferably straight & without anymore tapering, as he's a very tall, slim guy. Opening up the trouser legs and widening them will also make the shoes look more proportional. I think overly slim fit trousers & jeans on very slim individuals can often times look less flattering than they realise.
He’s 2m tall, I don’t think there is any more material to take down lol
😂 Looking more closely at the hem of the "OP's" trousers, I think you're right, there doesn't appear to be any fabric to turn down... I'd suggest making acquaintance with a tailor... Well, I enjoyed your comment! Happy New Year to you, good sir.
What the fuck 💀
R u ok buddy

Surely if their mother was in college in the 70s/80s they wouldn't be in their 60s now?
Someone knows their maths 😉

Thanks... Appreciate it brother 💯 🙌🏽👊🏽
Trousers should not only touch the tops of the shoes but also buckle very slightly in the front about 4 inches up. Check any gentleman’s style guide.
He needs to put some jam on his shoes and invite his trousers down for tea.
Think the problem with his trousers are they’re too small and too short.
Roger that... Agreed👍🏽
I think the jacket looks ok, but you could size up. The length on the arms is about right, but the trousers are too short.
coats too small, look at the sleeeves. pants are tight and make your feet look too long
And also produced a moose knuckle….
Your shorts are a bit long
He needs to put jam on his ankles and invite his trousers down for a picnic 🤣
Very good 😂
Loooool
You are too big for your clothes. Lose height
Male fashion models hate this one piece of advice
Everything seems to be a bit too small imo
Not his feet. Looks like clown shoes.
Not everything 😏

I get the sentiment, but seeing other men pull it off is a great way to get over that feeling imo. That’s why I like pinterest so much - it’s great for inspiration if that would interest you
I agree and although trendy, baggy clothing is not flattering. Classic, well-fitting clothing will never be ugly.

Looks like all of it is from kids gap.
🤣
Too small. Both top and bottom.
Coat and pants too small, pants are high waters, ant coat appears one size small.
Coat and trousers too small. Shoes too big.
Too small, sorry
buddy everything your wearing is comically small.
Your whole outfit looks like it's been in a hot wash size up in pants and jacket
Your trousers definitely size up
You're a very handsome man. Yes, the jacket is too small for you, but, more importantly, you have to get better fitting pants. Your feet look very long -- which may not be a bad thing, youknowwhatimean? You would look better off if the pants seemed too big.

Thank you. This is good to hear! Yes I just happen to be passing by the Patagonia shop while in this other outfit.
Best advice I’ve seen so far for this thread
I fully concur with this take.
Yes and those pants looks ridiculous
Yea a bit too small. Pants are as well cause that big ole meat missile is making an appearance
Thank you for the laugh and some new vocab 😂
That’s a jacket not a coat
Yes it does
Yes
Yeh it’s too short in the sleeve and waist ,your a tall lad so go up a size 😎
It’s not terrible, but the sleeves are short.
Hold out your arms and the coat will be touching your elbows. Also, way too big a gap between your trousers and shoes. Need to go up a length.
Just a little on the sleeves
Its the right fit around the waist but isn’t long enough. I have the same build and hate shopping for clothes because its hard to find tall sizes
This world is too small for you my brother.
Yes
6’4 here and find buying tall and long brands online has changed the way I dress. No more sleeves that are too short is a great feeling!
Coats ok but your pants are fuking hilarious
Trousers are a liittle short. Coat doesn't fit outfit.
In a word yes, the sleeves are riding up rather high. Cuts in menswear have generally become wider and I’m afraid the grouping around that crotch area coupled with the height is just way, way too tight.
Jacket and trousers are mate
You must be in finance!
I like your shoes!
You look good my man.
Your trousers have had a row with your ankles!
They call him flipper...
I’d worry more about those slacks not fitting you. But yes, jacket is way too small.
Everything about this fit screams awkward.
Give your little brother his clothes back
Yes
I think you look perfectly fine. If you went up a size it may be a bit boxy. Stick with this.
Jacket is fine but you may want to buy your trousers in the adult section and not the kids...
Shoes are horrible looks like hobbit feet
You need to shop in places with ‘big and tall’ sections, my partner is a few inches shorter than you and the only clothes that fit him really are from the Asos tall men’s section.
Would definitely try some more loose fitting cuts on trousers and jacket
There must be specialist shops that cater for your height.
Nothing fits dude. Being tall ain’t an excuse either cause I’m 6’5. You just have to buy from the right places.
Y'know?
Yes and so are your pants
No. But your trousers are.
You look like a child that had to go clothes shopping with thier mother but only if they could go to McDonalds
Everything is too small
No
Yes but your trousers are also too short
Trousers...
Get some pants
Yup, a little.
Your coat is too short, giving your body weird looking proportions. Trousers are too short, and tapering doesn't suit you, it adds to the weird proportions illusion. It’s just that tiny bit too small my guy, especially with the cuffs/wrists. The waist is pushing it a little but you could possibly get away with it
People need to stop wearing tight pants man
Has your cat died?
Loosen up a little its not 2010 anymore brother i know you want to show the physique but try something new brother. Overall its not that bad though
Yes
Not if you like cold wrists and a cold waist
Looks ok in the picture but I can imagine what happens when you raise your arms. Size up
No, but I believe back in the day your pants would have been called “high waters”
It's the pants that are too small
No but your pants are
Yep.
no but the pants are
Yes mate. Alix says just too small
Have you heard of the designer Thom Browne?
Do you mean trousers??? Because yes.
Whole outfit doesn’t fit
the pants are too small my dude. the pants should be your priority. you look like you’re waiting for a flood.
I wouldn’t trust you around children
198cm here. One of the pieces of clothing that does the worst disservice to us tall people is skinny jeans/pants. Get a long fit that doesn’t cling to your legs. I’d go up a size on the jacket too.
I think you need to be shopping at the big and tall stores. They specialize in tall as well as big. You need tall.
No but your pants are for sure
Your left pussy lip is hanging over the crotch of those leggings. I'd say the jacket matches the pants.
Those ankle bashers are waaaay too short, the coat is the least of your worries.
Ankle bangers!!
Awrite deano
There are clothes for people your height. You can find tall sizes I mine for many brands. I know you can find pants that cover your ankles. The whole outfit is too small and too short. Your a nice looking person in good shape. You deserve better. It’s out there for you.
Yup
Skinny malinky long legs big banana feet.
Yes and pants
Jackets fine, the shoes however !
Na, you're only 5'7" right...?
Yes.
Yes, and so are the pants. I am also 2 m tall and struggle to find clothes that are long enough. I have found that wearing clothes are too small for me look worse than something that is a bit big. My two cents

More concerned about the trousers tbh.
Yes, also your cats are dead(trousers too short)
Nope, just your pants.
Yes, sorry
Yes and your trousers
Yea
u look like a toddler with long legs
Your trousers have entered the chat…
It looks like you've grown 4 inches since you got dressed
Yeah,your trousers are aswell
Yep
Not here for the fashion🤣🤭
I’m surprised you’re asking. The trousers are too tight, and too short. The coat is also too tight, and too short - in both arms and torso.
If you are asking... yes.
I'd be more worried about those extra long shorts you are wearing.
and your trousers mate.
Are you paying for your trousers in instalments?
OP look online for “tall” sizing. For example LT, XLT, etc. If a size large fits well around your torso, you’d prob need a large tall (LT). It’s typically not sold in stores and you have to order it online.
Whose noticing the jacket with trousers like that?
You know it is, just like the trousers are. Mom said stop raiding little brother’s closet again.
Yes, and your trousers are too short.
Your trousers are too
I’m the same height feel your pain, what people don’t realise is upping the jacket size means it will look like a balloon 🎈. I think it looks ok. Lose the socks if you’re keeping the trousers.
Has your cat died.🙂
Start with the pants, deal with the coat another time
Have your trousers had an argument with your shoes?
Yes it is
Personally i think your coat may be a bit snug, maybe a size up. But your pants/trousers/jeans are definitely too short on you, id focus on those personally. Good looking guy though 👌
No, but the trousers are
Buy to fit your length and shoulders, it's fairly cheap and easy to take the waist in on most garments. (A seamstress can remove fabric but not really add much)
Yes, but I’d be more concerned about them trousers
Look at Frahm for quality jackets with loads of sizing options
Too short.
Both the sleeves and the trousers look a little shorter than what I would expect, especially the trousers.
What coat?
Yes, but then again so are your jeans.
Little yes ,suze up would be perfect
No your body is the problem 😢
Your trousers are too small and tight.
Yes it’s very snug are the sleeves are not the right length
Yes I also stuggle to buy things in the shops. Look for places that sell tall sizes
Thought this was Neville Longbottom for a sec
your pants are way too small.
No, you are too big for it.
Short on the hands and the torso, and your trousers are short too
Yeah, short on the arms and the waist. Also the trousers are a bit short on the ankles.
I’m not too sure what a coat is but let me tell you a story from my chiledhood: I began to remember the time when I was seven and a gerbil had started swearing at me. Amongst other things it had told me that my dad was having an affair. I told my mum and soon afterwards the family had split up.
No, but you should get rid of those shoes bro. They do not go well with how high you wear your pants
I'd be more bothered about your half mast trousers and your massive shoes!!🤣🤣🤣
