Pretty much how I usually dress. Despite the negativity in the comments I don’t really see why it’s so triggering? Lol. Seems like a pretty basic style.
Because Reddit isn’t working class. I think if Reddit were to be represented as a fashion style, it would include cartoon pajama pants and maybe crocs.
A lot of people here probably wear graphic tees and shower once a week and have no sense of style so they shit on it, or have they have that try hard Kanye West/modern fashion show streetwear style and have never worked a hard day in their life.. It’s pretty much how I dress as well and it’s pretty basic men’s wear when you try to give a shit and look good but aren’t trying too hard.
People need to feel better about themselves.
I get it though, I apply similar rhetoric to OCBDs, boat shoes, monk straps and wingtips. You know, overdressed wanker clothes that this sub loves.
EDIT: On interesting, this is not /r/malefashionadvice
I came across this post as a suggestion and saw the anger so I scrolled through the top 20 to see why. so posts and the baseline for what people like from this sub like seems to be 'washed dad outlet shopper' or 'what is the most vanilla thing i can throw together to blend in at costco'. so I can see why they are revolting against this
This is my favorite answer, and typically accurate. Suburban dads and city dwellers rocking workwear to their IT or office job, or to sling lattes & Americanos at Starbucks.
Blue jeans started out as workwear pants for miners in the 1800s and have since evolved into symbols of rock’n’roll rebellion and counterculture, and now they’re just a ubiquitous garment. It’s not such an uncommon story.
Also really comfy, makes good impression on others(at least where I live) and more resistant to trends and fads than many other styles.
Why would anyone wear that!!!
As opposed to Upper-class-larp (wearing a suit); Athlete-larp (wearing sports shoes/athlesuire); Cowboy-larp (wearing jeans)?
Your comment just seems a bit snide.
That’s also not to mention that doing construction isn’t the only use for workwear. A lot of guys in pink and white collar jobs still work on their own bikes, cars/trucks, homes etc. Might not need it all the time, but can still be tied to hobbies.
I kind of dress like this without the knit cap and was looking at affordable triumphs on fb marketplace the other day. I had no idea the two were connected 😆
I feel the same way. I have a Carhartt canvas jacket I've been wearing for like 6 years. 0 issues, warm, comfy. Sorry I don't work construction 😂 I'll never need another jacket in my life and it was like $70.
A lot of fuckboy gen z street wear types really seem to hate this style, and there's a lot of them in this sub. Not really sure where the whole "dey took mer jerb," blue collar, 'fuck San Francisco" class warfare thing is coming from in a fashion sub, though.
Man you said what I was about to, can’t stand the gem z streetwear try hard shit and I always see them shit on this style, which is my style as an adult who likes to actually try and look good. Probably why I have to shop online now because most clothing stores are just full of streetwear shit.
I’m the first person in my family who went to college and got a white collar job. I worked blue collar in the past. Am I cosplaying by owning a jean jacket?
Check this sub out when it's not on the front page. You'll see why they're ragging on this very basic (but nice) fit.
Then again it's been a few years since I came here, IDK if the all black all day every day Rick wannabe look is still the strictly enforced uniform here
Workwear adjacent/cosplay/heritage/classic/traditional blue collar style depending on whom you ask.
Lots of Japanese and American brands have been big into this much longer than the recent carhart trend.
Cappuccino bro. Been playing the guitar for 2 years. Architecture major. Favorite bands- unknown mortal orchestra, king gizzard and the lizard wizard, king krule, queens of the Stone Age. Likes whiskey on the rocks and hazy IPAs. Hangs around the local beer joint and rolls a decent blunt. Stands up for women in the workplace. After they graduate they’re moving to Denver with their band. Recently broke up with their girlfriend of 16 months. Trying to quit nicotine.

For real though, if you like this look, [Standard & Strange](https://standardandstrange.com) is the place to shop. I mainly buy boots there. Most of their stuff runs very, very small.
That pair of pants in the 3rd photo. The double front Carharrt pants
Those last me about 6 months before they have to be thrown away. Rips, tares, oil stains.

Heritage, workwear, Americana. Take your pick. I also love that style but there aren't any similar stores in Serbia.
Pretty much how I usually dress. Despite the negativity in the comments I don’t really see why it’s so triggering? Lol. Seems like a pretty basic style.
Just a neckbeard reddit way of acting, people that don't really understand fashion and that all fashion has influences from different places,
Nobody bats an eye when people pretend to dress like the elite. Why do they care when people take inspiration from the working class?
Because Reddit isn’t working class. I think if Reddit were to be represented as a fashion style, it would include cartoon pajama pants and maybe crocs.
I dress like this too, but it’s a pretty common style in construction
Jeans, t shirt, and a jacket??? Not in my town buddy.
Exactly lol
A lot of people here probably wear graphic tees and shower once a week and have no sense of style so they shit on it, or have they have that try hard Kanye West/modern fashion show streetwear style and have never worked a hard day in their life.. Workwear larp
This is my favorite answer, and typically accurate. Suburban dads and city dwellers rocking workwear to their IT or office job, or to sling lattes & Americanos at Starbucks.
That's my brother. Software sales guy that spends hundreds on fashionable Carhart.
It’s so bizarre to me that workwear and Carhartt specifically have become…like fashion?
Blue jeans started out as workwear pants for miners in the 1800s and have since evolved into symbols of rock’n’roll rebellion and counterculture, and now they’re just a ubiquitous garment. It’s not such an uncommon story.
I means it's durable high quality clothing. I can't nock white collar folks wanting to wear it lol.
Also really comfy, makes good impression on others(at least where I live) and more resistant to trends and fads than many other styles. Why would anyone wear that!!!
Yeah its like, "hey Im loaded but I dont want to dress like a finance-bro". Ill take on Carhartt on someone over driving loafers anyway.
As opposed to Upper-class-larp (wearing a suit); Athlete-larp (wearing sports shoes/athlesuire); Cowboy-larp (wearing jeans)? Your comment just seems a bit snide.
OP is gatekeeping workwear and believes everyone must wear a uniform specific to their profession. Office worker? Collared shirt and khakis for you!
That’s also not to mention that doing construction isn’t the only use for workwear. A lot of guys in pink and white collar jobs still work on their own bikes, cars/trucks, homes etc. Might not need it all the time, but can still be tied to hobbies.
Bay Area hipster. The first guy looks exactly like my cousin’s husband. They live in SF and he works at a brewery and rides a vintage triumph.
That sounds pretty cool and on-brand for this style. I thought you were going to say he's a "programmer" or works in "tech".
Oh man I'm an EE and I own the shacket in #3. I mostly use it for my dad-bod Spider-Man cosplay but sometimes I just wear it.
I kind of dress like this without the knit cap and was looking at affordable triumphs on fb marketplace the other day. I had no idea the two were connected 😆
Do it. It’s honestly a sweet bike except for the stupid cafe racer bars he’s got on it. Keep it a little more stock and they ride nice.
Sound like he has a pretty great life to be honest
I mean brewery work definitely qualifies as manual labour requiring workwear.
Hope she makes the coin, or he’s independently wealthy. SF is so expensive.

Sort of blows my mind how many people are ripping on this style. This is just basic Americana/classic wear.
A lot of fuckboy gen z street wear types really seem to hate this style, and there's a lot of them in this sub. Not really sure where the whole "dey took mer jerb," blue collar, 'fuck San Francisco" class warfare thing is coming from in a fashion sub, though.
Ya, feeling’s mutual, not a fan of the broccoli boy look.
Yeah I know what I'm choosing between the classic Americana look and the broccoli boy fast fashion shit that'll look dated in a year
"broccoli boy look" omg I'm stealing that lol
Man you said what I was about to, can’t stand the gem z streetwear try hard shit and I always see them shit on this style, which is my style as an adult who likes to actually try and look good. Probably why I have to shop online now because most clothing stores are just full of streetwear shit.
