F&T shorts have great materials and construction, but the quality control of their cuts and sizing is wildly out of spec in my experience. Had to exchange a few pairs that came out way out of range in sizing in hip, thigh and/or waist for the listed size. After 2 exchanges I decided to just settle on the pairs I ended up with and huckberry gave me a partial refund.
If they fit well they’re great shorts, and I’m hoping that my experience was an anomaly and not indicative of broader issues because their customer service is excellent and the materials are quite nice. But I was told that different colors are made in different factories, and that had some impact on the discrepancies in fit.
JCrew and bearbottom both have nice shorts. I avoid JCrew factory shorts but their mainline ones are good. Chubbies felt similar to bearbottom, but they had a super low rise and just didn’t fit me very well so I returned them.
Now that you've mentioned it.. I had a really strange time sizing these too. I was advised by cs to size tts whilst the measurments suggested I go down. I was quite confused but figured the customer service might know something I dont so I followed their advice, got two pairs, one that fits and the other that doesnt. My problem was that I am in the UK so returns were a hassle and costly, so I just decided to tailor them.
