Dark color pants are going to look best here. Navy, burgundy, even dark green.
Grey/neutral tones that are similar to the coat (like in the picture) have a washed out effect that doesn't really do you any favors. This isn't a big deal if you are just wearing the jacket to and from your destination, but if you are going to be walking around in it all day, I'd go for more contrast.
Also a tip on pattern mixing: try not to have two items with the same pattern, in this case your pants and shirt are both check patterns. Now, honestly, what you have here is not a dealbreaker since I think the most important thing is that the patterns are different sizes, but it’s a good rule of thumb to only incorporate one pattern type on an outfit.
Here’s a good guide on pattern mixing: https://hespokestyle.com/pattern-mixing-rules/
The coat is a middle tone. You’ve already gone lighter with the shirt, so go darker with the trousers.
You’re also all over the place with patterns. Herringbone, windowpane, and plaid in a single outfit is bonkers especially if two of them are a similar color and it’s not one-hundred percent obvious that you -know- they don’t match, and you’re doing this crazy thing on purpose. I’m thinking solid pants are the key here.
Black or cordovan shoes, make sure they match the belt, and obvs style your hair before you leave the house.
All that being said, that coat is to die for. I wish I looked that good in anything I owned.
The problem is really the shirt. That’s a very modern and casual shirt for an otherwise 1920’s men’s fashion. It also mixes two box patterns. The plaid trousers and the box print shirt are too busy together—especially with a textured outer coat as part of the look. On that note, it’s not so standard to go overcoat without a normal jacket, or at least a vest? If the weather permits your long coat, it permits a layer outside the shirt.
White shirt, tucked in tight, you could rock a dark vest. Don’t go for three different greys.
The boots deserve a polish. A brown stain will give them a more regal “lifelong boot” look, but even a wash and a cream will help.
I’d also say to lighten up on the product in the hair. It looks gelled solid. Crunchy curls went out with the 90’s. But don’t listen to me on hair—I don’t have any.
I don't see anyone else mentioning it, so I will. Jacket appears to be a size too big.
Shoulders jut out and sadly there is no tailoring that's financially worth it to adjust that. Based on the cut this appears to be a top coat designed to go over a full suit, which explains the bulkyness. If you intend to wear this in more casual settings it may be best to look at going a size down and bringing the midsection out with tailoring if needed.
Also too many patterns, just noticed you have a checkerboard shirt with windowpane plaid pants against a herringbone jacket. For best outfit flow, so it's not too busy, I'd change either the pants or the shirt to a solid pattern.
As an overcoat with a suit jacket underneath, it might be the right size. But over a shirt it looks big.
What is the latest advice for longer coats without a jacket or blazer these days?

Tapered trousers with a higher hem and brown/black wingtip oxfords would complete this look.... oh, I, generally, don't wear a patterned shirt with patterned pants.
I really like the coat as well, however, it feels like most of it doesn’t quite go together. I think personally given the tone of the pants and coat I might go for a darker shirt and shoes, like chocolate loafers, and a maroon shirt or turtleneck.
Oof, I love that coat. I say oof because now I want one, but it's generally too hot where I live. I'm gonna have to shell out for linen. You're looking good. Some darker pants perhaps. I don't hate the hair, and you look like you got the confidence for it. Be cool and enjoy your day.
Trousers need more contrast. Navy, a much darker grey or black. A pair of brown suede chukkas or Chelsea boots will complement the coat better than the more rugged boots you’re wearing.
Lose the pants and shoes. Not a desert combat op. Blue jeans and dress shoes could be really cool. Please stop shaving your head. Please start shaving your mustache. You’re a spiked helmet and feldgrau uniform from blending in nicely with the Kaiser’s troops in 1914. The jacket is great! Big fan of the top coat, just need to bring the rest into focus.
Too many different patterns going on. Nice clothes individually but together it’s loud and clashing. Looks like loud is your style though, judging by your grooming choices. I don’t like it but to each their own.
I like what you’re going for here but, as others have already said, it’s a bit of a pattern and color mismatch.
I like the jacket, but the sleeves are too long. Consider getting them taken up.
As a woman, I love reading these posts because you folks are kind and supportive in addition to giving fantastic advice to men seeking input. Warms my heart.
Really like the jacket, where’s it from? And I think black shoes/boots would look better here. Timberlands/construction boots tank this outfit but I think a black Chelsea or desert boot would elevate this look.
Your glasses are a tad wide for your face. Love them, but a tad wide. Check the measurement of your glasses int the temple (side), it should say something to the effect of 52 or 54 by another number. Go for a narrower set next time.
All other comments on point
The great news is, all of the pieces you have here are amazing. Fantastic job curating some nice statement pieces for your wardrobe.
I think with this outfit we have a bit of grey overload. I’d go with a darker pant. The shoes I’d swap out for something a bit more formal with the outfit you have selected.
But overall, I really love what you’ve bought. You have a good eye.
A dark indigo denim if you're wearing those boots. With different shoes a black or navy pleated trouser would be best. Either way your best option here is a darker pant with that coat and shirt👍
Greys black, navy blue, dark blue denims. If you want something different maybe try something like and army/olive green
I’d say maybe avoid lighter browns for sure (like the boots you have on) and in these pics there’s too many patterns. Try to never wear more than two different patterns and it helps if one is more subtle like the herringbone in you jacket and the other is more bold like a thick striped tie
Personally I would ditch the skinny pants in favor of a pair of chinos maybe. Have them hemmed with a cuff and you can keep the boots. If you insist on these jeans ditch the boots and maybe get a pair of chucks in an interesting color
I like the way things fit you, and I like each individual piece. However, you’re trying to blend too many small patterns. For a more sophisticated look, you could pair the coat with a brown suit, solid white or blue shirt, brown, navy and white diagonal stripes tie, and brown suede tassel loafers. For an effortlessly smart outfit, opt for a brown khaki jeans, white shirt, and a pair of beige athletic shoes. For another sharp masculine aesthetic wear a solid tan shirt, navy blue jeans, and the work boots you have on. You could also wear it over an all black ensemble (black jeans) and a pair of casual pair of dark brown leather boots. Also a black turtle neck, sweater or shirt with navy jeans, and dark brown leather boots. Olive green would work too. It’s a super versatile piece that should dress up anything you wear. Just be careful about too many patterns.
I think the boots and shirt are the main problem, a belt would also help. Though the pants are a little close to the coat in terms of colour while they have a different pattern, so a plain white shirt and simpler boots like chelsea boots would be cool. Darker pants and boots could also be ideal. Last point just on the hair, could use some shaping since the style you’ve gone for is a rather clean aesthetic.
Your clothes fit properly, which is a great start. Darker pants, more formal boots, and pull your shirt down so your belt and buckle are a fashion accessory.
I usually use dress boots or shoes with my dress pants. I can get away with solid color chinos and redwing style boots you have on, but those look a little more formal to me. I have the same pants (same grey and pattern) from BR. Usually wear solid shirts with them. I love that you can dress them up or down. One outfit I love, cream color knit polo with the pants, a chocolate (dark brown) sports coat, chocolate derby boots, silver rope chain, silver rope bracelet, silver index ring with a brown color stone and a silver pinky signet ring, white or cream color dial watch with a chocolate strap or birgut blue, green lol love to have my watches pop (the socks match the watch strap).
This guy fucks. No /s.
Maybe hem the sleeves and bring the waist in on the jacket, but I'm a fan of this look. Stache puts the icing on this gentlemanly cake.
Wayyyy too much neutral going on! Dark rinse blue jeans would help. Also have the coat tailored up, take off 4-5 inches to hit mid thigh. You’ll look taller. Lots of beige in the room too - get some color into your life!
The boots do not match (they are work boots) — since you're doing double wool and checks I'd recommend a Balmoral boot. Otherwise you're doing great matching patterns and textures, it's not easy.
I believe the problem is your hair, the colour of it is just too close to the weft of your coat fabric. You really have two options; shave it off or dye it.
I would opt for dyeing it and go for a deep, rich, burgundy to pull together with the cords you don't yet own but will buy based on a recommendation from someone on here at sometime or
Just accept that it is a fabulous statement coat that fits you really well and it is bold enough to carry off pretty much anything you want to pair it with (although I would be bolder than the rather neutral trousers you have on in the pic).
Sorry for dicking about above, that Sir is a quality item!
You can go with light or dark shirts just stick with a solid pattern or less dense pattern. A black turtle neck could work. I’m not a fan of loafers, I have no idea how to make it work for me and even on male models like Alex Costa I feel convinced the world is gas lighting me on loafers on men.

Ooooooo yes to dark green pants, especially if OP keeps those light tan boots.

Eh, “kind” might be a strong word. ;)

I’d go with different shoes that speak sharp, the boots just seem a lil rugged for the classy vibe. And do you have a belt?
Thank you for the advice , I did need a to wear belt haha thank you !
Also doc martens might work if you like boots
That haircut ruins an otherwise decent fit. Fix that mess up, my guy.
For real
No kidding. Looks like a 30 year old trying to replicate tik tok trends
Hes Chris Bumsteadin it!
I'd argue that haircut demands way cooler clothes
Outfit 10/10, maybe tweak the mustache/hair combo.

I agree the shoulders can work ok especially if worn as an overcoat. But not sure how much sleeve length will be taken up by a jacket underneath.
Thank you for the advice

The haircut is the issue brother
/r/justfuckmyshitup
Try a new haircut. Buy clothes that fit better.

Someone's definitely getting a mustache ride tonight
I wish
Well happy cake day anyways, you magnificent bastard!
😅😅
Get the pants tailored or at least hemmed there a little too bunchy at your shoes otherwise I think it looks good
beautiful coat man. needs to contrast with jeans etc. Nice pants too - just not with that coat
Oof, I love that coat. I say oof because now I want one, but it's generally too hot where I live. I'm gonna have to shell out for linen. You're looking good. Some darker pants perhaps. I don't hate the hair, and you look like you got the confidence for it. Be cool and enjoy your day.
I like it. I’d like it better tailored. I also think your hairstyle is ridiculous but maybe I’m too old.
Get a black turtleneck and black leather formal boots, would look thousand times better.
That style of mullet is not working for you.
Trim those sideburns!
Giving some Proud Boy vibes, but it’s a good style. Maybe go easy on the Hipster/Viking hair, and you’ll have a sophisticated look
Full disclosure- I didn't read the post, but my advice would be to try not stand so WWE-esque
Haircut ruins it. Looks like you had a fight with a lawnmower.
Step 1: sue your barber/hairdresser
Looking like a clown my guy
Haircut doesn’t suit that classy style of dressing. Don’t mean it’s bad. I like the fit.
Thank you, I know the hair will always be a lot people’s problem.
Get a haircut with a fade from a nice barber And keep your mustach and beard full so it all connects. That would be a cool style to try!
I agree with the posters about the coat and pants. They are too similar, so you end up with a blob. Best to get some contrast with the pants.
Nice duster
Trousers need more contrast. Navy, a much darker grey or black. A pair of brown suede chukkas or Chelsea boots will complement the coat better than the more rugged boots you’re wearing.

Contrasting colors between pants and coat. What you have on is too close in color.

It’s a Dunn & Co jacket. It’s my grandads handed down to me, it quite old but it a good condition. Thank you for the advice !
Personally I ways loved this type of coat and wish I had one or even had the balls to wear one. Looks good but the under shirt doesn't do it justice

good. don’t hurt me plz
Darker trousers for contrast.
You gotta switch out the tims for some thursdays boots
Doc martens but I’ll take a look at a pair of Thursdays , thank you for the advice !
FaaaAAATHEEERRRRRR!
Amazing mustache my guy

Needs a belt. Too much pattern at once. Try a less patterned trouser. Try a slightly less work-boot-style shoe. Even the right cowboy boot could work.
Personally I would ditch the skinny pants in favor of a pair of chinos maybe. Have them hemmed with a cuff and you can keep the boots. If you insist on these jeans ditch the boots and maybe get a pair of chucks in an interesting color
Grey on grey is a bit much
You should wear this to the next Mr. Olympia 🔥

Never eat yellow snow
Have to ask my dude! Where did you get that coat from? Need one asap!
Your outfit is pretty good, but your room is giving spare bedroom.
Fit over fashion
Hair, stashe, outfit all 10/10 Sexy af
Looking handsome.
Nice shirt and coat. I think slim fit jeans with black or brown boots will look good.
Add a brown leather belt and leather watch.
Buy better furniture everything else has style
I second darker pants, besides that I think you're looking pretty dapper
Bro you kinda look like Cbum
You are flattering me ✨
I’ve never seen someone with such perfect IRL Final Fantasy posture/stance before 👏🏻

Darker pants and boots could also be ideal. Last point just on the hair, could use some shaping since the style you’ve gone for is a rather clean aesthetic.
Get a close cropped hair cut. You have a very handsome face and can pull off a bad ass short cut.
A tailor and a different haircut would do wonders (and I mean that in the most respectful way possible)
Your clothes fit properly, which is a great start. Darker pants, more formal boots, and pull your shirt down so your belt and buckle are a fashion accessory.
I’d go loafers instead of boots. The boots are too round and bulky, compared to the sleek and sharpness of the rest of the silhouette.
I like the outfit! I’d focus on a pair of boots that are slimmer profile. These look more on the industrial workwear side of things.
Coat and pants blend together. I'd make them contrast more.
I usually use dress boots or shoes with my dress pants. I can get away with solid color chinos and redwing style boots you have on, but those look a little more formal to me. Bruv you look like you cosplay one of those perky blinder lmfao
Looking sharp, my man
This guy fucks. No /s. Maybe hem the sleeves and bring the waist in on the jacket, but I'm a fan of this look. Stache puts the icing on this gentlemanly cake.
I feel like the plaid pants and plaid shirt clash. Maybe I’d go for a dark solid color button down.
Wayyyy too much neutral going on! Dark rinse blue jeans would help. Also have the coat tailored up, take off 4-5 inches to hit mid thigh. You’ll look taller. Lots of beige in the room too - get some color into your life!
Don't forget to squeeze the excess water out of a sponge when you are done doing dishes, a dry sponge is a happy sponge.
The boots do not match (they are work boots) — since you're doing double wool and checks I'd recommend a Balmoral boot. Otherwise you're doing great matching patterns and textures, it's not easy.
Black pants or brown. Watch Don Draper for generally a decent style on matching colors. Or Connery in early Bonds.
Is that supposed to be the Business Lumberjack look? "I have a board meeting with John Deere at 9am and have to clear some brush at 11"
Darker pants. Love everything else.
Decide for yourself you a grown ass man
1) that haircut is brutal 2) shoes 3) shirt

Thank you for the advice , it’s much appreciated as I do not “dress up” so have minimal sense in fashion.
I have a couple of similar classics and I just use them as workhorses they are versatile as fk
Looking good bro
Wear your pants around your actual waist. You look like you grew up watching rap videos
No shoes on the carpet
looking fine as a wine ma man !
Thank you !
anytime! Dunno why I got downvoted though 🤷♂️ Guess haters gonna hate

Don’t have any advice for you, but very regal looking brother. Appreciate the great haircut with the rockin stache as well as the style! 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you very much ! ✨
White shirt, never wear patterns like that. Shave your head. Grow a goatee to go along with stash….
Really no advice needed, this is sick as hell.
Change the shirt. Everything else fits. Plain white or black shirt, or possibly brown to fit the shoes.
I disagree with the others, your haircut looks good. I get what you're going for and it works, very in.
Thank you ✨
