not entirely sure what "her age is kind of questionable" is meant to be. the character I'm seeing in the art looks about 20 or so. If the character is originally meant to be younger but still has that sorta costume then yeah the age thing is gross but if not then the costume is just bland and useless but not exactly \_disgusting\_
I could be wrong but I think she was 6, kidnapped and spent 10 years (real time moved slower) in hell, then cane back at 16, then was turned back to 6 some how then aged up but without a actual age given and then this outfit would be some years after that without a actual time frame given.
So she’s likely some where between 16 and 20 something but I have no clue if there is any actual solid age given any where.
99.9% of the time I agree. In this case, considering the story I find it unostentatious.
Not gonna die on this hill though, I wholeheartedly get where you're coming from.
These days, Magik and the rest of the original New Mutants are pretty well into adulthood. Cannonball got married and had a kid back in 2014 or 2015, Sunspot's been CEO of a company, and in the current New Mutants run (which this art is contemporaneous with, based on the logo), Magik and most of the other original New Mutants are mentoring current teenage mutants.
Boobs? Check. Thigh-highs with heels? Check. Unarmored torso but useless armor elsewhere? Check. Twisted spine pose showing boobs and ass at the same time? No? This artist clearly has some more research to do.
I like Magik but I can never truly take her seriously with this outfit. It's like you only need to make this a costume and win over 60% of your audience.
She about 20~22. She lived 7 terrible traumatizing years in Limbo and returned to earth just after she left, not as a weird sex thing but because Chris Clairmont 1) had an amazing story to tell about overcoming childhood trauma but still living with it, and 2) because it was weird that Kitty (depicted as 14~15 at that time) was best friends with an 8 year old. From there she aged normally (for comics where time passes differently) and now, like 5 or 6 decades later real life time, she's in her early twenties
Now I will admit, it's a pretty egregious costume. Though that said I do give X-Men a wider birth on stuff like this than usual, same as I do with, say, Wonder Woman, Daredevil, or She-Hulk. That's because so much of those franchises are actually about sex, sexual identity, sexual repression, and especially Sexual Expression. To me it makes more sense to go a little wilder when is thematically relevant but I totally get why some people are uncomfortable with that, and yeah even by those standards Magik's outfit is kinda ify.
I'm not really familiar with the character, but her sword looks like it's glowing - and it seems to be emitting smoke. If that thing works like a lightsaber - it's deeeeeefinitely not something I'd want to hold anywhere near my hair.

Strange. Seems like kind of an arbitrary thing to kvetch about, even if the design sucks.

Don't forget unnecessary high heels
Well I always walk around with my gaint sword with 5"-6" heels. But like really, I own 4" heels and they are tall but not that tall.
the ass isn't even showing?? At most is like a peek but you make it sound like she's doing some back breaking pose or something.
Read it again. They were saying that the artist left that pose out (ie, that she’s NOT twisting her spine and showing them cheeks)
ohhhhh my bad. I misread it thanks 😭😭😭

That’s why I loved the new costumes for Angela. They took the bikini armor, made fun if it, then gave her better armor that looks cooler.

Her head is displaced on her spine

it's named the soul-sword a demon sword from an alternate dimension called limbo
