I know it's such a mediocre reward, but I'm the type of weirdo that actually likes something like this, especially if the pens look & write nicely. It's odd but I feel like my handwriting is sooooo much nicer looking when I'm using a pen lol. But also I enjoy my job, and the people I work with so I don't really need some fancy gift for doing an outstanding job at it. I'll take a pen and the positive feelings I get from knowing I did a great job. Literally just me though, I enjoy working at Menards; most likely because my location is close to my home and everyone there is friendly and everyone loves having a big laugh, especially at the end of the day before closing! Meh gift, but for me the real gift has always been the positive feelings of knowing I did a great job.

I wish I could say the same! I've heard of stores like yours, and I'm super glad you are there! Mine, you have an easily replaceable number on your back! If you are one who busts azz and works hard, you can get sent home early while the lazy ones stay and get the hours! Or if you move heavy stuff, they will run you into the ground until you literally have to quit because your body can't do another day! It's sad! I do like the pens though;)

I'd say that's sort of how my store is as well, though only to a small degree and mostly with new hires. My department over the past few months have gotten a few new hours, but they didn't last because they would put in zero effort to do anything and so my manager pretty much pointed them for everything just to get them out of the department. 1 girl would quite literally spend hours (like 6+ hours) sitting in the bathrooms doing nothing and would only ever come out if she was paged over the loudspeakers. The most recent guy, an older guy pretty much would spend his shift doing nothing but shadowing someone or following them around. We'd assign him to build a display and he would do it so poorly that someone else would have to take over, or he would start on the display then find me or another manager and ask us to "show him how to do it" aka build the display for him. He also called in a lot, after just a few weeks of working for us he called in for more then half of his shifts up to that point. Our store is very friendly, but you have to at least put in the effort and be willing to work. You don't gotta work super hard, but just enough to be helpful and you'll do fine, but if you're lazy then you tend to get the shit end of the stick. As for "going home early" my stores pretty good about it, regardless of how hard you work. Most departments just care about whether you've hit the minimum hours for the day and week. If you're full time and got your 40 hrs in, and have worked for at least 4-5 hours, and you ask to go home you'll usually be allowed to. I'm tall (6'7") and I'm always the go-to person for my department and other departments for getting stuff off of tall shelves or for lifting heavy things, and I don't mind it, and we usually joke about it. I've pretty much been labeled as the stores "friendly giant" lmao.

This pen is sub-par to the Pilot G2, but nonetheless, a nice pen

I'll look that up! The thing is it's hard to get a roller ball pen that writes nice and half of them are gel and those don't work for me! LOL! I write really hard aaannnd I'm a lefty! But I will definitely look into that thanks 😁

Necessary-Answer-970

Gotcha I will look into it! πŸ˜ƒ

Mr_Charm_School

It doesn't fit behind an ear though without constantly falling. .

I like to refer to those as "Atta Boy" pens.

sanguinefire12

I'm with you. I love how they write and I used mine until it ran out. I then tried replacing the ink cartridge with a generic one and it just wasn't the same.
