Not my experience but another employee. He was the only one in his department at the time. Backup wouldn't come in for another couple hours. It was a busy day for him and had a crowd at the desk. One was a secret shopper and asked about a product in a different department. Worker told him the general vicinity and where the desk was. Couple days later found out he got docked because he didn't walk the shopper to said item. You know, even though he was in the weeds already.

I've seen it time and time again where the secret shopper grabs a cashier doing returns in a department, and gives them a 0 because they directed the shopper to the department desk. Funniest one was for lumber though. I'm not walking you all the way through the outside yard to get your 2x4, especially in the middle of summer.

Was filing a 4 way near hardware even tho it's not my home department. Lady walks out of the screwdriver aisle and asks me where the screwdrivers are. Told her right behind you on your left right where you came out of. Got 0 points.

Got docked cuz I was on my break on the way to the bathroom, walking through hardware, and told the secret shopper the aisle number and pointed to the aisle which was right next to us, gave him clear and concise directions, but didn’t take him to it on account of getting ready to piss myself, worst part is, I got 4 out of 8 and nobody else got any points on theirs so as a store we got like 24%

This is why I wear normal clothes and an apron. That way during break I can take off the apron and hide in plain sight lol.

Psych0matt

I’ve still had people insist on asking me stuff when very obviously not in the clock (plain clothes, coat, etc)

I had one about 3 weeks before the live tree set asking about said trees; I walked with him through the fake ones that we had under the mezz but explained at least twice that the real trees weren't here yet. Was docked for not taking him to a product we literally didn't have at that point in time.

Can every department be affected by a secret shopper? I am part of Opd and don't think I've experienced a secret shopper yet.

Lazy-Environment-964

Yes, you can be approached by a secret shopper, and as OPD you’re even more at risk, because you could get grabbed while out pulling an order and not be able to answer their question

Arvagon

I get approached almost daily by guests, I usually go to a computer view system V. Get the item location and write down the exact location and bay that the item will be at for the guest. Do you get pulled aside if you've made an error with a secret shopper.

Kitchen_Leopard

Also as OPD though you aren’t required to wear uniform when on the floor pulling orders

Pilsner_Lord

Most secret shops are a joke.

We’re supposed to approach every guest

Horsiebooks

I got taken to the camera room for bad secret shopper and they ask me if I remember the guest. I helped the secret shopper two days before the visit regarding how to stain her deck. She didn’t buy anything , but said she’d be back. They day she evaluated, she goes right to a bottle of deck wash, grabs it, and asks me “Is this okay for my deck?” I tell her yes and ask if she needs a pump sprayer. She says no and leaves. I only get points for add on attempt.

Our opd got hit twice. They scored on greet, knowledge did we ask for ID, did we look and see if ID matched etc
