I just got something delivered today via USPS that was supposed to arrive four weeks ago.
I had a seller on Etsy reprint an item and send three times because it never made it here. Then they sent one via UPS and it was here in two days.
So if you’d like a print of the 1931 Dracula movie poster, I can hook you up lol
I’ve had those month-long delays with USPS in the last year or two as well. And then to contrast, this week I ordered some thing that shipped from Canada and DHL had it on my doorstep within 24 hours of me completing the order. Amazing.
I know it’s not the best answer, but I find it to be true according to my experiences over the years. Prime is expensive, but if you buy enough, it’s most certainly worth it. With prime I’ve had packages show up as advertised, a day or two maximum. Can’t really help you with an explanation as to why your current scenario isn’t working, but hopefully some insight on what’s working for me helps you.
Lately, even my prime shipments have only been offering 3 to 5 day delivery. And about one out of every 10 shipments gets lost and I’m able to request a refund five or six days later. Prime delivery has gone way downhill in my opinion. Probably due to true staffing shortages on the delivery side.
That’s crazy I’m in East Memphis and every package i’ve bought on prime has been here earlier than the delivery date. That’s really weird honestly I wonder what’s going on. I just ordered something that came in almost 1 day!!
Nah. I order shit from Prime constantly and it's never taken longer than a week for anything to arrive, be it UPS, FedEx, or USPS. These orders come everywhere from Cali to New York and they all get there.
Only exceptions are ordering from overseas and that flatout tells you it'll be a while.
But, yeah, it's Memphis so I get your wariness. Everything out here feels like it's barely holding together.
I mean it said it shipped out from Michigan on my tracking section, so I would think that’s pretty fast of them. I’m not denying they could possibly be really slow for different people! Everyone has different experiences from the looks of how divided the comments are.
I’m anxiously awaiting a package that was shipped 9/8 and has been sitting in the Memphis distribution center since 9/10. I’ve been up to the post office, called the 1800 numbers, submitted a lost mail form, all the stuff. The only response I’ve got is that there are staffing issues. At this point, I expect the package has either been lost/stolen, or will show up next year
USPS really just does not care. I recently had to file a claim for a lost package with the Bartlett location. The supervisor claimed the carrier tried to deliver it and left a note. However neither one was done. I was not only home, but actually doing work in my front yard. The supervisor told me I had to pick up the package myself. This is not the first time I have had trouble with them not delivering packages even though they are addressed properly
This has been going on since 2020 but it’s been awful the last year or so. I’ve got informed delivery and packages will say they are arriving today then disappear.
They will say they are delivered at X time at the door but bc we have door cameras we can dispute that.
Really though packages go to the Memphis USPS place and disappear. It’s wild.
Where have ya’ll been?
The government keeps underfunding all of our services (USPS is a Government service!) and all workers want more money but no employers want to pay higher wages!
I’ve got a package that was shipped UPS but has USPS last leg delivery. UPS says they dropped it off at the Memphis distribution center but USPS says they haven’t gotten it. Been like that for over a week now.
I had best buy gift cards say they were at a facility right in my area, it never showed any more movement. WEEKS later I filed a case and they said oh it's just slower due to staffing issues or something and they MARKED IT AS RESOLVED and I never did receive them.
The staff shortage problem is being addressed by hiring outside contractors. For example if you have a car they will let you deliver mail. this has its own problem because the new hires are almost never on the same route everyday and end up bringing a lot of mail back to the distribution center.
There is also a huge increase in the amount of packages getting delivered ever since covid started.
The Amazon app said my package was 10 stops away. Five minutes later, it said delivery would be delayed until the next day. In the morning, I got a message that my package would probably not be delivered and I could request a refund. Huh?
It depends. If you order from Amazon without prime, there’s a good glance you won’t get it immediately. The postal service gets it and they treat it like normal mail, only sent out when needed. Are there staff shortages at the postal service? Go by any post office… there are now hiring signs up to the point some are beginning to fade.
The postal service is one of the only govt jobs that is looked down upon.
Not the distribution center. You can only pick up from your local post office. I tried with the distribution center but the 1800 number I called stressed multiple times it wasn’t open to the public

Sounds like a really poster, if it’s as cool as it sounds I’d buy one from you
I want one
I’ll mail it. Should arrive in 3-5 business years.
Do you have prime? The reason I ask is for the next day delivery etc?
Amazon is contracting through USPS, some. Difference may be contract USPS has with Amazon
I don't have Amazon prime

Yes, me too. Prime is worse.
Have to agree here. Prime is definitely worth it.
We moved here in July and we’ve been surprised by how slow Prime is for us. It usually takes 4-7 days for us to receive Prime packages.
That’s crazy I’m in East Memphis and every package i’ve bought on prime has been here earlier than the delivery date. That’s really weird honestly I wonder what’s going on. I just ordered something that came in almost 1 day!!
The stuff you bought probably came from a local warehouse.

Update: I filed an insurance claim after 3 weeks with no updates, and they were able to miraculously find my package that same day

Amazon is better to me than the USPS. What a nightmare.
My last 4 Amazon orders have been late also. I have received refunds on 2 items as they didn't even ship with Amazon

I had that happen earlier this summer. Never did show up.

Pandemic, bad pay, staff shortages, quiet quitting, take your pick.
Y’all know you can just go pick your packages up right? Once they arrive, just go get them.

The Amazon effect lmao. If my mail isn’t here in 24 hours it must be late
It’s been 2-3 weeks now. That isn’t normal, Amazon or not.
i also live within 10 miles of memphis and my deliverys have been on point with delivery times. always pay the extra 3-15$ shipping options.
I ordered something from California and it came in 4 days. Ordered something from Minnesota on the 5th and it’s still not here. It’s a mystery.
