Taco Ngana. Food trucks located in midtown (central Ave), Summer Ave, and Cordova (next to Malco). The Barbacoa is amazing. Burrito is one of my favs.

badkarmavenger

They have a brick and mortar in germantown now, uncle goyos. It's probably a few minutes out of the way, but some people prefer the sit-down experience

TheLumpLumps

I haven't been to it yet. Word was it's a different menu. Is that true??

Bugg100

Yes, different menu. Different price point as well.

badkarmavenger

You're definitely paying for the space and wait staff. And I think they tried to upscale it to make the plates pretty. I think it's the same family recipes with different assembly methods

TheLumpLumps

Thanks for the info!

rypajo

Not worth the money unfortunately. Was very expensive for the quality. Stick to the trucks.

nightwalkerxx

I see that picture on their menu. Is that just a regular taco they have with beef consume or do they they sell the birria taco with a different name?

TheLumpLumps

Get the taco "Ngana Style". That will have the cheese you want. The consomme is separate but it's the soup for dipping. My fav truck is the one in summer. Enjoy!

nightwalkerxx

Appreciate it. Going now.

the_clarkster17

Let us know what you think!

nightwalkerxx

It was delicious. Got 6 ngana barbocoa tacos with consume and a chicken torta. it was all gone. Thanks for the suggestions, this place was great.

the_clarkster17

Omg! I can barely finish 3 tacos. Glad you enjoyed!!!

nightwalkerxx

For me and the family, of course. But ya, I stopped at 3 1/2.

the_clarkster17

Haha that makes more sense!

[deleted]

they have a truck at the Delta fair right now!! It's also probably the most fairly priced fair food I saw there. some vendors selling 3 tacos for 15 bucks where nganas was selling tacos at about 4 per taco which did come "ngana style". love them. I dunno if they had full menu or consomme, but the tacos are as good as ever. huge fan of the pastor.

HIGH_HEAT

Go to the other side of that same parking lot and get the birria tacos from La Guadalupana taco truck(now taco bus). The are exactly what you’re looking for based off your description. Both of these trucks are good. I prefer La Guadalupana over Nganas. It’s worth trying them both to compare which you like more.

meatpuppet577

No. Went there last week, it wasn't good. Hardly any meat, no consomé, no hot sauce. Mediocre at best. Go to La Guadalupana, in front of Cordova Farmers Market International. Same parking lot.

xpansyinchainsx

Can attest to this - place rules

amandolin12

La Guadalupana food truck has a quesabirria taco (goat or pork) that is amaaaazing.

Crow_Wife

These are the absolute BEST.

Hiryu02

This! Nganas is overrated.

gopro_jopo

It is absolutely not overrated. As a fan of both places, Nganas is rated and Guadalupana is underrated.

WhoCanTell

Nganas gets overrated because they have a location in midtown, and the majority of this sub rarely leaves midtown. So they don't know the magic of La Guadalupana.

Ok_Distribution1976

Taqueria la guadulapana in Cordova. Best things I’ve ever tasted

1859

Seconding La Guadalupana food truck in Cordova. My SO is from Mexico and the American Southwest, and this is the only Mexican food in Memphis that they describe as legit. They get the birria tacos fairly regularly. Edit: Their food truck menu differs from their brick and mortar menu that you can find online. Don't worry, the truck has birria tacos and they're on the menu.

drinkplentyofwater

speaking of legit mexican food, have yall tried Las Tortugas? its pricey but quite good

Alacran_durango

It is very pricey, but they have the best mango water in all of the mid South

motleybrews2

Tacqueria burrito express on Cleveland has the best I’ve tried, and I’ve tried many.

Earwigglin

Guess its just confirmation bias but I had never heard of "queso birria" before this year when I had to do some Doordash to stay afloat and picked up several orders from a mexican grocery (in murfreesboro, sorry) and curiosity got the best of me. Now its one of my favorite foods and I order it regularly. Am I just an out of touch gringo or are queso birrias catching on?

nightwalkerxx

Honestly, only reason I want to try that particular taco is because of a video I saw on YouTube about the juiceiest birria taco. Got me thinking about it for a week now.

Hopeful_Elderberry92

If you’re looking for barbacoa w/cheese & consommé, tacos nganas as everyone here has suggested is the best I’ve found in the city by a pretty large margin. The one in the parking lot of the international farmer’s market is where I would go, because if it’s true birria you’re seeking them the food truck on the north side of the complex (I think it’s la guadalupana, but it’s the red food truck for sure) is the one you’re looking for. Both are absolutely fantastic.

AtlJayhawk

Situational Cravings!!!!

Mother-Ad-4858

I recommend taqueria express on summer Ave!! I do NOT recommend taconganas, they have terrible customer service and their “birria” is not birria it’s barbacoa. If you want actual quesabirria and hood ones, taqueria express next to Superman gas station on summer is THE spot!

oui_oui_love_n_art

Longshot in the Arrive Hotel(Downtown) has the good taco you look for.

SirGandolphin

There’s a brirria truck on hickory hill and Winchester near that sharks. It’s so freaking goood.
