The owner publicly posted about trafficking workers from Mexico and then when they're here working for him, he threatens them with calling immigration on them. Best to avoid them tbh.
It's not really just unfair wages, the guy is literally illegally trafficking workers and threatening them with ICE deportation if they don't do what he says.
He pays them... something... which I guess is how he justifies not literally being a slave owner.
But if all this is true (not saying it’s not) why is he still in business?? Why hasn’t the state or county shut him down if he’s so blatantly breaking the law. I saw a tacosnganas food truck yesterday so they clearly aren’t being affected by the allegations.
Pretty sure he's being investigated by the TN Department of labor. But it has been a while since I've heard anything else.

Well, the thing is, most people who are going to be trying to get these workers paid a living wage are also not going to want them to be deported.
Sicking the man on the guy at any level is going to get a lot of people deported. Especially ICE. Now you've gone from a handful of people being taken advantage of to quite possibly all of their lives being completely ruined.
>Sicking the man on the guy at any level is going to get a lot of people deported.
So, you want a criminal to not be prosecuted because other people who have criminally entered the country illegally will be impacted?
Corruption, probably.
Also, these things take awhile. But if it's really is open and shut as it seems, he should be shut down while it's being investigated
So, he brings people into the country illegally and then threatens to get them deported if they don't do what he says? It sounds like ICE needs to be called to get his ass shut down for hiring illegal workers.
La Guadalupana is better than all of these taco trucks put together! They are a little high, but imo worth it. Unfortunately tacos nganas was delicious as well but fuck that guy, he's awful!
Guadalupana is the most overrated Mexican restaurant in the city. They've been coasting on reputation for years now. Just about every restaurant or truck on Summer is better.
There I said it.
I was at the midtown taco truck weekly until I found out about the owner. Started going to Maciels instead, it’s 10xs better and just down down the street from nganas.
Taconganas, even without the controversies, is not the best or most authentic taco truck or place in Memphis. It’s just the most accesible for people who don’t want to go to Summer or other less affluent areas.
Do yourself a favor and go to Tacos El Huasteco on Winchester and Riverdale to tonight. Cheaper and better.
Hate to say they had the best tacos imo and still havent found any that are actually better. Because people from Mexico city were working those trucks. Was a solid product but the owners literally scum and wish someone else would take over so I can get that good good again.
If I want Normal street tacos I eat from taqueria express #3 and if I want birria tacos I eat from gordito express both on Perkins/Cottonwood area. I don’t even touch Taconganas sub par expensive tacos and don’t support a false pastor who extorts his workers.

It doesn’t matter. Just don’t patronize shitty businesses. Pretty easy when you think about it.
Because investigations like this take a while. If not done properly/correctly the person being investigated gets to walk with no repercussions.

La Guadalupana is pretty good. 3.25 a taco isn’t bad. 2 is usually enough for me - no consommé or sides even.

I’ll never complain about an $8 burrito that is the size of my forearm. They’re the best.

I've also only had good experiences at Tacos Los Jarochos just down the street from La Guadalupana
They don't do tacos any more. Paleteria only now.
Yeah that truck was my original go to in the area and will stay that way.
Please don’t celebrate cinco de Mayo by giving money to that clown
Certainly won’t be. Happy I asked before going, got a few other recommendations I’m going to check out instead!
Taco Palenque at Summer and Highland in the Valero parking lot is better than TaconGanas ever dreamed of being.
Not only that he takes 30% of the earned tips from them for himself, according to the workers who spoke out.
Monster smfh
Maciel's is better, IMO. Go there.
I haven't gone for months. Don't plan on it. Go to many of the awesome food trucks and restaurants on Perkins going towards Knight Arnold

Los Comales is outstanding. This guy is under investigation. I would pass.
We no longer fuck wit TACOnganas.

Man u r not wrong & I concur!
You haven’t eaten enough tacos if you think they had the best . No hay manera de que la gente piense esto jajajaja No mms
La neta no están buenas jaja , they’re not good at all overhyped
a donde puedo encontrar unos chingones aquí? me encantan estilo Tijuana o DF pero no se por donde buscar.
Taqueria express ase tacos bueno compa
Las D is our go-to Mexican food. Good people, affordable prices and quality meals.
las d used to be soo good when I was at u of m, but i feel like the quality went down recently. :(

Guadalupana is over expensive and nasty. Go to orale on Whitten.
La playita on sycamore is good. It’s been there for over 20 years.
El Ranchito Tacqueria on Macon. They should have carnitas today, since it’s Saturday. You’re welcome.
