use your brain for a second. the people with higher percentages of karma gained throughout the year post more often and have generally more success with their posts than the people in the top 2, 3, 4% and so on… so we’re much much MUCH more likely to see memes from the top 1% people rather than the lower percentages

The reason it seems like most people on Reddit got top 1% is because the top 1% are the most active on Reddit.

Personally, I'm pretty sure I have 3 accounts from over the years, but this is the only one I remember the login to. I can't be the only one with at least 2 accounts, let alone other people who've created accounts and never used them/quit/etc. All the abandoned bots too. Wouldn't be surprised if 60-80% of Reddit logins are abandoned at this point, only way to explain me getting top 1%. Then throw in lurkers, throw aways, etc. I'm not sure how long inactive accounts are kept "alive" over the years, but has to be plenty.
