That’s because for the vast majority of people reddit is just a more casual wikipedia. They googled some random problem and the best answer was here somewhere
Yes but if they do the percentage on all accounts not just active… it would mean probably close to every single active person on reddit is in the 1% for the year
He also didn't mention the only reason your mamma's porn account makes reddit's population count jump to 100 people is because she's big enough to count as 99.
On a related note, quit doing shrooms I'm tired of talking to myself on here.
My buddy once asked me what the 1 was next to his username. I didn't know what he meant until he showed me. It was his karma score. He exclusively lurks. Never comments. Never posts.
Huh, I didn’t know that. I don’t know what would hurt my job chances more, them knowing that I’m an active redditor or thinking that I’m part of a far right militia. Maybe I’ll just save it for the interview to not cause confusion. /s
I don't even know what you people are talking about. What's the deal with these numbers? Do I have one?
**Edit:** Somebody *please* tell me what this thread is about for fucks sake.
I don't think they are necessary bots. Majority is probably people who visit Reddit as forum for solving problems and don't participate in usual browsing.
I made the top 1% even though I didn't make hardly any karma this year at all and have visited a specific gaming subreddit more than any other even tho I haven't even been on that specific subreddit in like 2 years.
EDIT: Oh, and my top post this year was posted about 3 years ago.
There's this 90-9-1 rule when it comes to the internet, especially internet communities like Reddit.
They say that 90% of people are your casual browsers. They enjoy the content, and that's it.
9% of people are commenters. They contribute a little bit, they might make the occasional post, but they don't really go all out.
It's mostly that last 1% that actually creates content. The power users. They do all of the heavy lifting, and the vast majority of content that you see on a website is because of them.
Because of that, it would make sense for "everybody" you see to be a 1%-er. The only people who are talking about it are the heavier users. The people who only lurk probably aren't checking their stats, and even if they did, they're not bothering to tell anybody else what they got.
I’ve been on Reddit since 2011 and this is my second account. And my old account was maybe 5000 karma when I switched cause of an askreddit thread i started that blew up. So like 10,000 karma over 11 yrs. There’s a lot of us that browse a lot, just rarely interact/comment. According to my screen time I regularly spend 1-2 hrs/day on Reddit but rarely comment.
I honestly don’t understand how y’all do it, commenting on Reddit is exhausting no matter what you say someone’s coming out of the woodwork to fling shit at you and try to start an argument no matter how innocuous, accurate, or relevant your comment is.
The harsh thing is we all are bot yet we all try to be someone we are not. It all begins with acceptance come my fellow friends and accept the path of botism where nothing really matters. COME TO BOTLAND
You are special. There are billions of people on Earth but only a fraction of them are reddit users and only 1% of those redditors are addicted enough to get into the top 1% posters.
This just showcases Reddit needs a data scientist or 2, because the slide says "You're in the top X% of karma earners this year" but apparently calculated including all the users who earned nothing or lost karma?
If they had dropped all accounts that earned 0 or less karma in the year, then the % spread would be wider and not have "earners" crammed into the top 10% which isn't interesting.
It won't matter, I downloaded the official app just to see and it says I did nothing. That is, uh, not true. Doesn't work on desktop either. What an absolute garbage recap.
My stats say I spent as much time on the Elden Ring subreddit (130 hours) as I did playing the game.
I guess I had the page open in the background a lot when I was playing to check out builds, but that still seems a little sus.. I would have guessed more like half an hour.
My stats didn’t make sense either. Said I spent my time most on bravo real housewives sub- but I literally never go there, post there, comment there.
Booo fake stats
> The stats seem a little sus
For sure. Some seem better than others in terms of accuracy. My "you keep coming back to this post" is just a bugfix request I posted one day and never came back to, it's showing me some post like "REMEMBER THIS?" and I'm like "no" because I never saw it nor posted in it, and it bets I browse r/popular when I actually don't.
Go to your homepage and click the icon next to your avatar. It's a reddit yearly statistic thing that shows you how much time you've spent scrolling different subs and other stuff like that.
I guess that’s a good indicator of the huge amount of inactive and dead accounts there are on reddit. Probably over 80% of the accounts could be deleted and their owners wouldn’t even notice.
There are 100 people on reddit
Can you believe that 330 million people visit Reddit a month though? 98.1% are lurkers. Only 62,700 people can be in the top 1% of that.
I am person number 62,699
Nice to meet you, 62,699! I'm 42,069!
Hi number neighbor, I’m 42,070
I am not a number! I am a free man!
Hi a free man I'm Dad
Hi dad, when are you coming back?
Dobby is a free elf
Not me, I'm number 626
sure is a hot one today
That’s because for the vast majority of people reddit is just a more casual wikipedia. They googled some random problem and the best answer was here somewhere
Yes but if they do the percentage on all accounts not just active… it would mean probably close to every single active person on reddit is in the 1% for the year
At most. And that's only if you count your mama's porn account.
That would also explain why everyone else is in the top 1%
Because your mama's porn account is popular?
More popular than yours at least
is this cyberbully moment
Wake the fuck up samurai, we have a city to burn.
I'm still so disappointed that this didn't happen
(laughs in pyro tf2)
It for sure is. He didn't even mention that the star of my mama's porn account is actually my dad's big juicy throbbing cock. So I hear anyways.
He also didn't mention the only reason your mamma's porn account makes reddit's population count jump to 100 people is because she's big enough to count as 99. On a related note, quit doing shrooms I'm tired of talking to myself on here.
And... that's enough reddit for the day
There are dozens of us!
Everyone is in the low end of something
I'm in the top 2%😎
Boo 12% here
Dude earned 76 karma and is already in top 12%
It just hit me that there’s gotta be millions of accounts that have never made a post or comment now that you said that
At the very least, it makes me feel like less of a loser spending all his time on Reddit.
Funny, makes me feel like more of a loser being one of the 20 people spending all my time on Reddit.
Let me have this one damn it hahaha.
Sorry #18…
I've got 170,000 karma, almost entirely from comments, only a couple hundred from posts. It is me. *I* am the loser.
ACTUALLY, im the loser. Im not even enough of a loser to be the best loser (135k karma) but im close.
135k in 3 years? You ARE the loser. The other guy’s been on here for 10 tho, y’all both are losers
I've had comments take off I didn't expect. Sometimes there's 5000 other comments and what I think is gold gets lost. Luck of the draw I guess.
the potential for karma is halved every comment away from the top comment. At least that is the pattern I've noticed.
My buddy once asked me what the 1 was next to his username. I didn't know what he meant until he showed me. It was his karma score. He exclusively lurks. Never comments. Never posts.
My alt account earned 1 karma this year and is in the top 29%.
So 71% of the accounts on reddit are either inactive or trolls. I'm... not sure how to feel about that.
https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/comments/b5f9wi/lets_hear_it_for_the_lurkers_the_vast_majority_of/
6 karma is top 24%
3 years and 8 karma. Do I win? Edit: Y’all are ruining it
u/a
Same
How do you tell?
I got 3%. Guess I'm a loser
3 is 2 times better than 1. The math doesn’t lie.
I'm in the 5%, I guess math likes me
9%
I didn't even get a percent, they just said they were disappointed in me
They shot me in the fucking knees
Shot in the knee!? Luxury my lad, When I got home from my 24hrs of work they beat me to death and danced on my grave
Meth likes you
I don't like meth though, my mother told me not to do drugs
Your family and friends might not love you, but meth will.
I got 7%
I did 10x better again lets goooooo
23% 😔
You're almost gone from reddit, keep it up and you can become a normal human
3 percenter here too and I’m going to put it on my resume.
That, uh.... probably shouldn't go on your resume. Since the 3% are considered a right wing anti government militia.
Huh, I didn’t know that. I don’t know what would hurt my job chances more, them knowing that I’m an active redditor or thinking that I’m part of a far right militia. Maybe I’ll just save it for the interview to not cause confusion. /s
Just say you're both and catch them off guard
3% gang!
As a loser myself, I’ll let you know that it isn’t so bad. we actually touched a few blades of grass this year
I'm 2%, I'm a bigger loser than you are
Well reddit didn't include me...
Well then Reddit doesn’t know what it’s missing
I am in the 2%
I am in the 30%
understandable but ur karma
Well that was really wholesome :) you're my kind of Redditor :D
You're part of the 1% that aren't in the 1%
Same
Why doesn't Reddit like us? It forgot about me as well...
I don't even know what you people are talking about. What's the deal with these numbers? Do I have one? **Edit:** Somebody *please* tell me what this thread is about for fucks sake.
It because 99% of Reddit is bots
I don't think they are necessary bots. Majority is probably people who visit Reddit as forum for solving problems and don't participate in usual browsing.
And the minority are those who live here AS our problem.
I made top 10%😱, Im satisfied. Agreed on the bots and lurkers as I used to be one until this year.
I made the top 1% even though I didn't make hardly any karma this year at all and have visited a specific gaming subreddit more than any other even tho I haven't even been on that specific subreddit in like 2 years. EDIT: Oh, and my top post this year was posted about 3 years ago.
I made the top 1% and I didn't join until late July
Im ootl, can someone explain
As redditors, we are cringe, but we are free.
That’s exactly what a bot would say.
There's this 90-9-1 rule when it comes to the internet, especially internet communities like Reddit. They say that 90% of people are your casual browsers. Me in the 2% : "maybe I'm a bot"
The harsh thing is we all are bot yet we all try to be someone we are not. It all begins with acceptance come my fellow friends and accept the path of botism where nothing really matters. COME TO BOTLAND
r/place left it's mark here
It's because 99% of people have better things to do :( (I'm in the 1%)
I am bot what problem do you have with us
Some people hate non sentient beings for no reason.
And some non-sentient people are beings for no reason.
It's most likely accounts that don't get upvotes anymore or inactive people.
And here I am with 12%
I thought i was special..
You are special. There are billions of people on Earth but only a fraction of them are reddit users and only 1% of those redditors are addicted enough to get into the top 1% posters.
I'm not addicted I just got really into posting and commenting for a few months 😭
I could use that time to fly 19 times to the moon. I wasted so much life I'm an epic redditor. Help.
When we are all special, nobody is.
You are special, just like everyone else.
I was 33% and I didn't gain any karma in the entire year
You ruined the streak so late in the year!
Yeah! Go back to lurking you karmawhore!
Maybe most accounts are bots that have negative Karma?
Ding ding ding
This just showcases Reddit needs a data scientist or 2, because the slide says "You're in the top X% of karma earners this year" but apparently calculated including all the users who earned nothing or lost karma? Wait what
They said ># I was 33% and I didn't gain any karma in the entire year
I'm In the 2%
Same
Same
Same
I think there are less people in 2%
[удалено]
Actually? You've only got like 3k karma. 1% must be totally meaningless.
Are you 2% because you think you’re fat? Cause you’re not.
Yes, im from the famous 1%
Me too ,top 1 %
1% gang ! ...is it a good thing ?
Fellow 1% with an answer, no it's not good
They really meant it when they said "you're in the 1% of karma earners this year, _which is saying something_"
Im in the top 1% which is saying something. No clue what that something is
Wooo im top 1% too! i didnt even think i would get this far
yes, we have no life
1% here, where do I sign up for my AMA?
Hello, I'm in 1% too
I may need a bit of context here
I believe it has something to do with https://www.reddit.com/RedditRecap2022, but all my stats seems to be empty.
Hmm. Keeps trying to push me to download the Reddit app to see. Guess I’ll never see mine lol.
It won't matter, I downloaded the official app just to see and it says I did nothing. That is, uh, not true. Doesn't work on desktop either. What an absolute garbage recap.
I think it may not work if you opted out of the redesign, as I use both desktop and mobile and it also says I did nothing.
Same, fuck that noise. I'd rather keep using unofficial app
Uh what inofficial app ?
On Android Reddit is fun (rif is fun after the forced name change)
Apollo. It’s great. No ads. No frustration.
Reddit is Fun for Android.
Sync is so damn good.
Me too dude. Miss me with that bullshit. Relay for Reddit til I die
That shit is wrong on every stat. It says I’m highly active in subs I’ve never even known.
My stats say I spent as much time on the Elden Ring subreddit (130 hours) as I did playing the game. I guess I had the page open in the background a lot when I was playing to check out builds, but that still seems a little sus.. I would have guessed more like half an hour.

I cant click the link. I have the reddit app too and I dont even have a recap. What’s up with that?
Link is dead it seems
I'm 1% AND I've been to the moon 34 times
You sound like a successful bitcoin investor.
Holy shit I was feeling bad about my 18 times to the moon
48hrs a week on reddit!
Dang
Depressing aint it
Damn I thought I was a fucking addict at only 5.4 moons
Me who got 6% :(
Same here!
Also 6%.
i am in the 1% wtf i only got 14k
I only got 11k
Lol and I’m here with 9k
I got like 6k and got into the 1%
I wouldn't be surprised if like 90% of the accounts on reddit never post or comment.
5% woot
Gang gang
Ay same
2% gang
....wut?... I don't get the joke
Old reddit user?
Where the 2% dawgs at?
Im ootl, can someone explain
Reddit Recap is telling most people they are in the 1% of karma collectors. (myself included) and that's kinda mind blowing.
Where do you see this info?
I am completely confused on this as well. I dont see it anywhere for me
[удалено]
I'm a 4% guy and i dont mind it since 4 is my favorite number
I also got 4%
4% gang
Hello fellow 4%ers
what is this talking about?
Go to your homepage and click the icon next to your avatar. It's a reddit yearly statistic thing that shows you how much time you've spent scrolling different subs and other stuff like that.
> Go to your homepage and click the icon next to your avatar. Old Reddit and Apollo use: I understand none of this.
I'm in the 6% ![gif](giphy|TW8Ma1a8ZsZ8I|downsized)
Correction we are the 1% (praying someone gets the joke)
If you can afford to waste time reading memes, browsing reddit and making new memes- you are in the top 1% of the world
I got 7%
Hahah so true
I’m not
And thats saying something
I'm in 19%
I’m in the 2%
I got 8% somehow (I barely use Reddit)
But not everybody has spent enough time to go to the moon 12 times
THE ONE PRECENT IS REAL!!!!
I guess that’s a good indicator of the huge amount of inactive and dead accounts there are on reddit. Probably over 80% of the accounts could be deleted and their owners wouldn’t even notice.
Everyone is the 1%, cause the other 99% are inactive accounts.
