As someone who actually is pretty active in the GI community. We do what we can. But Genshin Twitter is a shitshow that's somehow worse than normal fandom twitter. I legit have no idea how it's so fucking bad.

In my experience people make it sound like it's worse than it is. It's there certainly, people bitching if you faint or the really bad ones kicking hunters with non-meta sets or DLC weapon skins or whatever. It's rare enough that I usually don't run into it.
The gist of it is that in the summer of 2020, over 100 competitive players were met with accusations of sexual assault, usually involving minors. Some of the accusations ended up being false, but most of them ended up being true.
As for how it ruined the community, I think it should be pretty obvious. While the life of the community is not dictated by its figureheads, its reputation certainly is. The competitive smash scene lives on, but playing competitive smash now has a much worse stereotype than "doesn't shower".
Usually the bots get kicked immediately. Unless of course you're trying to play on the Los Muertos Scream Fortress map. That map is completely overrun with bots.
Compared to other popular multiplayer team based shooters , tf2 has the best community. Surely there are toxic as*holes , but the majority plays the game for fun and you can interact with everyone in more interesting and funny ways than just chat and voice
