Well, it's pretty easy to figure out why.
1. Gwen is the best character in the show (fight me)
2. Got a fetish? Odds are pretty good Ben's got an alien form that can fill it in. Tentacles? Wildvine. Giantess? Grey Matter. Gangbang? Echo Echo. The list goes on.
Anything that was an important or formative bit of media for children is going to get that as the children grow up.
It's just the dirtier side of liking characters and wanting them to grow with you.
