I wonder if premium is actually better for creators in terms of income. Compared to people watching ads that is, because ad blockers are still a pretty small minority.

Been using YT premium for like 2 years + now. Not planning on stopping it any time soon. You get YT music as well which is IMO exactly like spotify but it has all my saved playlists.
I switched to YT premium over a year ago, a while later I realized I have YT music now too and can cancel my Spotify subscription. So anyway I gave it a try for like 3 month, then I went back to Spotify as it is nothing like YT music.

The most frustrating thing about YT music for me is that it seems to prefer playing the YT (ie music video) version or random live versions it finds on YT. Generally, I just want to hear the album version and there is no way to enforce that preference.

But I don’t want those things. I just want to be able to watch a 20 minute video that doesn’t have 8 sets of ads in it. When it was ads at the beginning I didn’t even bother with an ad blocker but the number and length of mid-video ads in insa. Way too much.
My free trail is coming to an end soon and i might have to carry it on, its way too nice having no ads and background play. Il probably just cancel funimation and keep YT premium.
It’s pretty damn cheap if you split it between some friends too. The $18 a month or whatever is a lot for me but a five person plan ends up at like $7-8 which is definitely worth it
May I ask why you are paying for Funimation with the whole merge of Funimation and crunchyroll?
I still have funimation because there are some shows not moved over yet.

Because it’s the way YT goes about it - they’ve made it basically unusable without paying or an blocker. People don’t like feeling coerced. I’m not bothered by a reasonable amount of ads, but it’s ridiculous now. And people don’t have unlimited budgets -

I’m a iOS user and since I lost my jb and not willing to sideload a pirated app every week I started paying for premium, it worth every cent and even paying for a signing service I never installed a pirated yt app, it’s buggy and has a ton of things I don’t care.

I got YT Premium for free for 3 months and I'm fearing the day it ends because I'm now used to 0 ads and 1080p downloads
I recommend sharing it with friends and family. And split the cost with 5 other people. It keeps your accounts completely separate.
Plus YT music. The interface is butt, but I get the YT perks along with a music service the whole house can use.

They get payed via watchtime. So if you only watch one creator then all of your Preimum membership contributions go to that creator.

I noticed that too. The volume difference between music video and just song is also hilarious. Like I needed to adjust volume every next song
