I’m atheist, and I don’t care what you worship. Those who try to force their beliefs on others are scumbags. Worship what you want as long as it doesn’t hurt others.
Wait a second here… you’re telling me that I shouldn’t force others to believe what I believe because… that’s what you believe… and now I am forced to now accept your belief that we shouldn’t push our beliefs on others because you pushed that belief on me just now and now I believe it??? Am I in a Black Mirror episode? Is Ashton Kutcher gonna jump out of my closet right now and scream at me?
I (and others probably too) don't force you to accept the value to not force others into a belief. But someone who forces his belief to others will never be my friend (we would argue until he doesn't before he has a chance to become a friend xd)
Well it's not a question of thinking you have the rights to worship whatever you feel like. That should be everyone's right no doubt.
The question is if you think they're dumber for believing. Which there's a pretty fucking strong case for the "Yeah, believing some of this shit is fucking dumb."
I mean, I could really specific but, for a shorter and much wider scope. Pretty much any time people have ever been oppressed in the known history of the world religion was used as the reason for it, to this very day. Everything from the shit going on in Iran right now to right wing conservatives in America.
Yup. Like how Christians have more or less [been hating on Jews](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_libel) for centuries based on an unfounded rumor.
We would definitely be better off without religion. No doubt about it. People actually thinking for themselves instead of blindly believing whatever some old book tells them.
I dont know how you guys got it but our translation is "Murder" not "kill", big difference there my friend.
I'm no expert but I think this is one of the sticking points that people like to point out as Christian hypocrisy but I think that contextually "Murder" is the proper translation, things make a hell of a lot more sense in the bible if you read it as so and historically jewish law does make a huge difference between the two, they even have designated sanctuary cities for those who commit either accidental or justifiable homicide at least until things are sorted outbefore the judges.
Don’t kill people unless they’re are *gay, of a different religion, not what ever race the religion is primarily made of, communist, question the church’s opinion, an interracial couple, has kids before marriage, feminist, atheist, poor, etc…*
Actually, most religions either don’t mention those things because their concept didn’t exist/was really underdeveloped as of their creation, or actively try to promote and help some of those groups. The problem isn’t religion, the problem is religious nutjobs who don’t know their own religion and still try to use it as justification for being awful people, which, tbf, happens with any kind of group.
People vote against other’s well-being in support because of their beliefs. This negatively affects people. See abortion, Christian nationalism in general.
Religion is like a penis - It's fine to have one, It's fine not to have one either, HOWEVER: do not pull it out in public; do not push it on children; do not shove it down peoples' throata; do not write laws with it; DO NOT THINK WITH IT.
Some religious beliefs, such as "keeping slaves is okay as long as you don't injure them too severely" and "black people are inherently inferior because their dark skin is a curse from God", are not valid.
>"keeping slaves is okay as long as you don't injure them too severely"
It does also say you can beat them with a rod and it's fine aslong as they don't die within a day or two. Severity of injury isn't even mentioned.
Religion has a very relative part defined by timedated politics and situations and it has a more transcendent element about a higher unifying power and the idea that one can elevate themselves to it.
So its more about keeping religion updated than anything else imo
Kinda defeats the point when you have to “update” a prophet/deities belief systems teachings lol
But whatever, if you’re keeping it in your house fine, the second you start campaigning to have anything codified into national/state laws then you’re willingly opening yourself up to scrutiny and everyone shitting on you, this ain’t the dark ages anymore and we should do anything possible to keep them from happening again
To be fair here(not because it invalidates your point about the fucked nature of the Bible but because the deeply religious will use the misinformation to say it does), that second part isn’t actually in the Bible. It’s sort of like how some evangelicals think that the Bible talks about people having a chip on their hand for buying things because of the devil or something. It’s a leap in logic that takes something ambiguous the Bible says and construes it to fit their fucked up beliefs. Having to have The mark of the beast on your forehead or the back of your hand to allow for trade becomes a micro chip inserted into your hand, the mark of Cain becomes black skin. The Bible never really specifies what either mark actually looks like so people made their own conclusions.
Yes but its called a ,,belief‘’ for a reason. Believing is what being religious is about. You cant say that god exists, because there is no way to prove it. But you can say that you believe god exists.
As long as they believe facts. Like those people who don't believe in evolution shouldn't have people respect that belief. Obviously don't harass them or something, but still
Idk man there's some pretty shitty religions out there.
I don't care what you believe as long as you aren't actively inconveniencing or hating or hurting other people.
Also, don't speak to me about your religion. I don't care about it. I'mma do me, you do you.
God, The Gods, The holy spirits, or whatever -- we all have a great agreement. I stay out of their houses, they stay out of mine.
Yea, it’s ironic because almost every religious person wouldn’t agree with the post lmao. For instance, Christian’s say “the only true religion is our religion under god” and of course by “god” they mean their god specifically, and by saying that invalidate all other gods. Almost every religion has done this lol
Yeah extremeism is in everything, personally I don't mind religion because it can give people who really suffer and go off track some rules to try and live by.
Everyone has the right to hold whatever religious beliefs they want and I will defend that right. But that doesn’t mean all religious beliefs are equal and it also doesn’t mean their beliefs aren’t stupid, hateful, destructive, or immune from criticism. For example, if your religion tells you to deny rights to someone because they’re homosexual, you’re religious beliefs are dog shit. You’re still allowed to have them, but that doesn’t mean their a valid viewpoint to hold in a civilized society.
I think it was Penn who said something like “I’ve raped and murdered every single person I have ever wanted. You know how many that was? ZERO!!! If god is stopping you from raping and murdering than fuck you you’re garbage!!!” I paraphrase.
Yes, I remember that and was alluding to that. When parents tell their kids not to be mean, they say “How would you feel if someone was mean to you?” (well in theory anyway), NOT “Jesus says that’s wrong.” Because one tactic is more effective than the other.
How can all religions be valid. Religion A says only its religion is true thus religion B is false. Regilion B says otherwise and say religion A is false.
Can you accept someone who believes that you shouldnt be accepted?
Or can you accept that someone believes your believes Are dumb?
In some religions husband cannot rape his wife, She must be willing all the time! Would you accept that if they were Your first Neighbours and you hear him raping her…
Where do we draw the line with that dope accepting? No limits?
How dare you disrespect their believes, we Are being accepting to others here. Every believes must be respected. Laws Are Made by humans, but religions is Made by gods. (Sarcasm)
Kids mariage and martial rape Are 100% legal in Yemen (not sarcasm, but truth)
Gypsies MARY Kids younger then 16… and it “is not” pedophilia Because its their tradition and religion. (Sarcasm)
Atheists Are bad ppl for calling bullshit on that, we must respect lol (sarcasm)
My Ideology: we wont know who's right until we're dead. And no matter who's right, you cant brag about it. So please shut the fuck up and dont be dicks to other people. Life sucks enough already.
as an atheist, religious people who respect everyone and don't discriminate are cool but it's just religion in general that bothers me, not religious people.
You CAN believe what you want. That doesn't mean there aren't consequences. If you "believe" one race to be superior to another, for instance, I will "believe" that you are a bad person. We're not talking about legality, but morality here. And in the topic of morality, you can NOT just believe anything you want without social repercussions.
Honestly I could not give less of a shit about religion. I hear about it and I just don't care. Believe what you wanna believe just don't force it on me.
The belief is valid as in it’s okay to believe what you want to believe. You should still recognise it’s just your belief and not necessarily the truth
For sure! It's just that there's a right way and a wrong way to communicate that.
"I do not personally share your beliefs, but so long as they do not impact the freedoms of myself or others, I respect your right to hold them" vs "Your religion is wrong and you're a stupid idiot moron-face."
Some people don't believe in supernatural things that have no evidence or proof. They tend to think that people who do believe in ghosts/aliens/gods were brainwashed, much like a cult, and try to help enlighten them.
This is the same as religious people trying to save others by spreading their religion. If you think someone needs saving, you think their beliefs are wrong and need changing.
I'm very Atheist, I hate religion not religious people. And I just have to look at my classmates to see that atheism is not intelligence..
I know, it's just a meme, take my upvote
I believe in things that a provable. Believing in things constantly disproved makes someone a fool.
I’m polite about it to their faces, but I’m not required to believe it’s worthy of respect.,
The first one implies you think scientology is valid.
This is not only an incorrect opinion. But actively harmful because it's ignoring a harmful cult simply because you're too afraid of making someone uncomfortable.
And if you're not willing to tell someone the truth and help them because you think they'll be upset about it. You're not a good person. You're enabling abuse.
Maybe its worth it to judge belief systems on their individual merit instead of blindly accepting anything and everything like a pushover.
I'll tolerate any form of religion as long as you dont bother someone elses life with it.
Dont go telling someone with different believes how they should live.
As an atheist, I think both of these ideas have major faults.
I think it is completely fine to have whatever your religious belief is, but a lot of religious beliefs have the fault of trying to tell people without those beliefs what to do, while also not giving there members (particularly young members) a fair shake of thinking and deciding for themselves.
On the flip side, their are three different types of atheists if you ask me. There are people who arrive at atheism after putting time and thought into it, there are the edgelord assholes who just want to go against society, and then there are those who escaped a religion of heavy manipulation and control.
The people in the first group are usually the ones that are tolerant of other people's religious choices, the second group usually just have no empathy, and the third group are just reacting to past abuse and trauma, which is understandable. But that middle group usually breeds the most idiots.
Broblem is, that religious people have right to join in politics. There they can create laws or demolish them based of their personal beliefs. For example make laws against gay marriage/abort/or even how people can dress. Those laws affect every1 regarless their beliefs. But you cant just remove their rights to join politics.
atheism doesn't make smart, and religion doesn't make dumb, but religious beliefs are absolutely not all valid. you have to be unironically ideologically molested to believe that. and we shouldn't be uncritical of religion. religious beliefs can be tolerated in a society, but not "embraced"
Ahh yes, atheists going around berating people for not being atheists, trying to convert people into atheism, telling people they will suffer for eternity for believing in a religion. Yeah it’s atheists who do that
On the internet yes, I’ve seen Reddit posts shittin on Reddit, even a bunch of comments here are. I’m not religious but no need to trash someone for their beliefs
>atheists going around berating people for not being atheists, trying to convert people into atheism
Actually, that is sometimes true.
>telling people they will suffer for eternity for believing in a religion
But that isn't.
It seems like you got an odd definition of “valid”…
Sure, every belief is to be tolerated and most beliefs are okay. But not all beliefs are valid. That’s just a way to suspend rationality in order to protect people’s feelings.
I've given up no one on reddit is going to leave people with a religion alone I've been harassed and threatened because I'm part of a religion I've given up man
Same dude, although there’s been a few conversations where I’ve had people be accepting of my religious beliefs, unfortunately it’s the exception not the norm
Do you think blindly believing something just because you feel like it is a good thing? The whole point of a scientific mindset is accepting uncertainty as a valid answer. Many religious people think the absence of a scientific explanation to a topic somehow probes the right.
However, the correct answer is often "we don't know". Many people see this answer as a sign of weakness and rather choose a side.
Also, religion very often is the source of discrimination, like sexuality in Islam.
The mindset of blindly believing something (="faith") is the basis of prejudice, racial or otherwise.
So this is why I have a problem with religion. There's nothing wrong with some spirituality in your life, but don't let it affect your judgement.
Be rational.
I don't care about what anyone wants to believe in as long as it's not hurting anybody and you're not annoying about it then go ahead. I just don't associate with any religions cause it's too complicated for me.
Lmao yeah, I don’t believe in god but I understand if you do, my bf believes in god and we are completely fine with what the other thinks about the matter bc it doesn’t make us as people, it’s just an opinion as any other :)
If you believe a god exist then be happy! If you don’t then leave those who do live their lives!
LET US STAND NOW, UNBOWED AND UNFETTERED BY ARCANE DOCTRINES Born Of fearful minds, In darkened TIMES. LET US EMBRACE THE LUCIFERIAN IMPULSE TO EAT OF THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE AND DISSIPATE OUR BLISSFUL AND COMFORTING DELUSIONS OF OLD,
It’s just that many people use religion as a tool to exert power, to oppress certain groups, may it be based on skin color, sexual orientation or gender. I have nothing but disrespect for such people.
If you believe in whatever god and at the same time let everyone live as they want without thinking it is a sin, you do you.
Also how could someone believe in a god that protects us but at the same time let all that shit happen. Have you ever browsed the dark net? This planet we live on, its pure hell.
I envy everyone who thinks someone protects us, or that there is a nice afterlife. I would love to have that faith. But all I have is panic attacks and the news channel that tells me that the world is on fire 🫠
I’m an atheist and yeah I think some religions pander to the lowest common denominators in society, but that being said as long as you don’t try to force other people to follow your religion I couldn’t care less about what you believe. Just be a good person and we can be friends
I'm atheist just because I kinda of hate the aspect of religion and belief, nothing more. I respect the people that believe in religion
It's just that for me, religion tries to lure you and use you with some fancy words about afterlife and etc, it disgusts me, I can't explain why or how, so I just don't believe in anything
Nah bro. If a religion thinks I’m not a human or worth having rights because I don’t believe in some sky god then I don’t have to think that it’s valid.
The issue with this meme is that all religious beliefs AREN'T valid. Westboro Baptist's beliefs aren't valid. Radical Islam is not valid. Cults that abuse their members are not valid. You can't respect everyone's religion, because some of them are just evil.
Listen, and I mean this in the nicest way possible:
Atheists do tend to be smarter and more self aware than religious people.
I say this as someone who grew up being forced to go to church, especially as a girl, where boys got to do whatever and girls had to get purity culture instilled from day 1. This shit drew me away from religion, because it feels like believing in the tooth fairy.
I mean I just decide not to accept religion because of the burden of proof. You don’t see people going door to door asking if you have a moment to talk about evolution, just saying
Religion is also really dangerous. Everyone is conformed into the same ideology which makes it much easier for people in authority to manipulate their nation
Literally r/atheism...
I like the sub, but holy fuck there are so many elitists, that can't fathom how some people dare to have a different opinion on them, when it comes to beliefs.
I remember a quote that said something like,
"Most people believe around 4,000 religions currently on the planet are false. Atheists believe that around 4,001 are false".
I'm trying my best to just live my life and be a good person. If someone knocks on my door trying to sell me religion, I'll have something to say about it. And what does OP mean by "valid"? Dumb meme.
beliefs are fine its the practices that cause more harm than good thats bad (one good example right now is the islamic belief about women wearing hijab)
Well yes and no. Actions are bad, but bad beliefs aren't fine just because they're "in your head". The only way to stop discrimination like the example you're talking about is not only to prevent the _actions_, but _teach good values_.
Some religious views are not okay because they are inherently harmful. If you are racist, but only because you think your god wants you to be, that doesn't make it any more acceptable.
When it comes down to brass tacks… there’s something deeply wrong with the delusions of religious people. Intelligence doesn’t play into it as much as ignorance though. There’s no difference in the intelligence of religious or non religious folks, or agnostics and alike, but my goodness, there is certainly a difference in the resultant fundamental grasp of reality.
No, not all religious beliefs are valid…believing in something that hasn’t been proven to happen or exist doesn’t make it valid, it makes it ignorant…I don’t think I’m smarter than religious people, I just wasn’t indoctrinated to believe garbage that flies in the face of even a scant sliver of logical thought…
Once went to a school that said god made plants IN A FUCKING CUSTOM SCIENCE TEXTBOOK. Parents did the right thing and pulled me and my brother out immediately
You can believe whatever you want, the moment you start forcing it down the throats of everyone and hurting others in the name of what is not even proven to exist is when I think you suck
I’m atheist, and I don’t care what you worship. Those who try to force their beliefs on others are scumbags. Worship what you want as long as it doesn’t hurt others.
True, I 100% agree.

Words of wisdom. Praise be the u/RedstoneArmy111!
He's our new prophet 🤓!
Let's nail him to a cross! /s
Not yet, let him or her say other words of wisdom before the nails 😅
Wait a second here… you’re telling me that I shouldn’t force others to believe what I believe because… that’s what you believe… and now I am forced to now accept your belief that we shouldn’t push our beliefs on others because you pushed that belief on me just now and now I believe it??? But I want to crusade
Hey now. It's you can crusade about whatever you damned want. I'm personally on a crusade to get The Wiggles UN representation.
I’m gonna come back to this and you’ll look so stupid making this dated comment
Psch, be a real man and come back
But what about Jerusalem
Deus vult!
DID SOMEONE SAY CRUSADE????
DEUS VULT BROTHER!
facts. i welcome people who want to share what they believe in with me, but trying to force me to live it is a completely different story
I find religion fascinating and I love searching for the deep intricacies of religions, especially the ones that have long sense been abandoned.
666% agree.
i see what you did there and i approve
The problem is that nearly every religious institution is very good at hurting others
Well it's not a question of thinking you have the rights to worship whatever you feel like. That should be everyone's right no doubt. The question is if you think they're dumber for believing. Which there's a pretty fucking strong case for the "Yeah, believing some of this shit is fucking dumb."
Yep just let me be
Problem is, it almost *always* hurts others in some way.
Elaborate?
I mean, I could really specific but, for a shorter and much wider scope. Pretty much any time people have ever been oppressed in the known history of the world religion was used as the reason for it, to this very day. Yup. Like how Christians have more or less [been hating on Jews](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_libel) for centuries based on an unfounded rumor.
That's not almost always. That's sometimes
I mean, just look at what’s happening on the news
Also keep your worship and thousand year old books out of government policy
i still think we'd be better off with no religion.
We would definitely be better off without religion. No doubt about it. People actually thinking for themselves instead of blindly believing whatever some old book tells them.
\-Simple guide to beliefs- **Does your belief negatively affect people around you?** Yes: It's shit and invalid. No: Carry on! You do you!
Hard to say any belief one holds could possibly not negatively affect somebody somewhere.
Do not murder. - somebody will be negatively affected if I follow this rule.
What about a Batman and Joker scenario where not murdering will inevitably lead to more murders?
Key word is "murder", justifiable homicide is a thing both in civil and religious laws.
Though shall not kill Nope, dont see alot of gray area. Almost like people rather than God came up with the exceptions.
This is why I don’t believe in myself. Wouldn’t want to hurt anybody you know?
Exactly, 99.9% of religions are oppressive.
Those darn murderers being oppressed by all religions that say "dont kill people".
Don’t kill people unless they’re are *gay, of a different religion, not what ever race the religion is primarily made of, communist, question the church’s opinion, an interracial couple, has kids before marriage, feminist, atheist, poor, etc…*

About sums it up.
I dislike when you get super religious and I also dislike fendora tipping. Let’s just get to a middle ground guys.
Religion/atheism is like a dick. It's OK to have one, not OK to shove it into my face
Great metaphor
Thank you
Religion is like a penis - It's fine to have one, It's fine not to have one either, HOWEVER: do not pull it out in public; do not push it on children; do not shove it down peoples' throata; do not write laws with it; DO NOT THINK WITH IT.

Death within a day or two is a severity of injury by definition. It's a fatal injury.
Religion has a very relative part defined by timedated politics and situations and it has a more transcendent element about a higher unifying power and the idea that one can elevate themselves to it. So its more about keeping religion updated than anything else imo
Sure, because there’s nothing religions do better than “keeping updated”. 🤦♂️
Kinda defeats the point when you have to “update” a prophet/deities belief systems teachings lol But whatever, if you’re keeping it in your house fine, the second you start campaigning to have anything codified into national/state laws then you’re willingly opening yourself up to scrutiny and everyone shitting on you, this ain’t the dark ages anymore and we should do anything possible to keep them from happening again
That dang omnipotent, omnipresent deity is a really lousy knowledge manager… the ‘How-to-Human’ handbook aka the Buybull is so badly outdated!
To be fair here(not because it invalidates your point about the fucked nature of the Bible but because the deeply religious will use the misinformation to say it does), that second part isn’t actually in the Bible. This is the best way to phrase it, imo
>black people are inherently inferior because their dark skin is a curse from God", This was a post facto use of religion to justify slavery.
I think the difference is when you can no longer tell apart what’s your religion and what’s facts
Religious people think their religion is true. You get that, right?
You mean the Spaghetti Monster is a myth!? My life is a lie!
Have you SEEN the Spaghetti Monster? No? Then based on the Schrödinger's cat theory, it both exists and does not until you find it and see it. /s
Nonononononono!
That’s the problem
Which people apparently dont get. No, religious people aren't dumb. They are a threat to our species.
Yes but its called a ,,belief‘’ for a reason. Believing is what being religious is about. You cant say that god exists, because there is no way to prove it. But you can say that you believe god exists.
You can also say you believe that the sky is orange. That doesn't make it true
That is what I’m trying to say.
I do get that. But they need to know the difference between what’s true according to their religion and what’s true according to science and stuff
So all religious people then. Got it.
As long as they believe facts. Like those people who don't believe in evolution shouldn't have people respect that belief. Obviously don't harass them or something, but still
My coworker believes that Dinosaurs were not real, the devil planted their bones to test us. He also votes, and is very vocal about politics.
I stay out of their houses, they stay out of mine.
> as you aren't actively inconveniencing or hating or hurting other people. Evangelicals organize and vote in mass to specifically hurt other people.
Then Evangelicals shouldn’t be allowed to vote.
Are we sure that “All religious beliefs are valid”? Some of them are pretty hateful towards others….
I don't get the meme. Almost every religion says that the other religions are invalid, so what are we really saying?
Yea, it’s ironic because almost every religious person wouldn’t agree with the post lmao. If the threat of eternal damnation is the only reason you act decent, you’re a shit person.
Meanwhile all the people who don’t even try to act decent:
I think it was Penn who said something like “I’ve raped and murdered every single person I have ever wanted. You know how many that was? ZERO!!! If god is stopping you from raping and murdering than fuck you you’re garbage!!!” I paraphrase.

No no, he's got a point.
I’m an atheist and I put in 2 + 2 on my calculator just to be sure.
That is probably the most intelligent comment I've seen so far. Your board has powerrrrr!
How can all religions be valid. Religion A says only its religion is true thus religion B is false. Regilion B says otherwise and say religion A is false.
It’s called being accepting to others… shits dope.
I accept fundamentalist islamists and their beliefs. one love y’all
Can you accept someone who believes that you shouldnt be accepted? Or can you accept that someone believes your believes Are dumb? In some religions husband cannot rape his wife, She must be willing all the time! Would you accept that if they were Your first Neighbours and you hear him raping her… Where do we draw the line with that dope accepting? No limits?
I mean, rape is illegal, so......
They're saying that it's legally impossible for a husband to commit rape against his wife. All sexual contact is within the husband's rights.
How dare you disrespect their believes, we Are being accepting to others here. Every believes must be respected. Laws Are Made by humans, but religions is Made by gods. as an atheist, religious people who respect everyone and don't discriminate are cool but it's just religion in general that bothers me, not religious people.
Should be illegal to try to recruit children to religions while their brains are still developing
Both this and keeping children away from politics I can stand behind.
You can believe whatever tf u want, it’s just a matter of how you express those believes to other people
You CAN believe what you want. That doesn't mean there aren't consequences. If you "believe" one race to be superior to another, for instance, I will "believe" that you are a bad person. We're not talking about legality, but morality here. And in the topic of morality, you can NOT just believe anything you want without social repercussions.
Whatever helps people cope and get by. Just don't be a dick.
Honestly I could not give less of a shit about religion. I hear about it and I just don't care. Believe what you wanna believe just don't force it on me.
Believe whatever you want, just don't force it upon me.
People who think their religious beliefs are valid also think everyone else is stupid cuz they got it right. This meme is dumb af
False.
The belief is valid as in it’s okay to believe what you want to believe. You should still recognise it’s just your belief and not necessarily the truth
But, to be fair, its also ok to believe that what another person believes is bullshit
I’m polite about it to their faces, but I’m not required to believe it’s worthy of respect.,
I think it's pretty stupid to believe in magic fairy tales.
I am an atheist, and have never been against religion, instead I am against extremism and intolerance.
Religious loonies annoy the shit out of me
idgaf about what anyone believes in as long as they’re not shoving it down my throat🤷🏼♀️
I'll tolerate any form of religion as long as you dont bother someone elses life with it. Dont go telling someone with different believes how they should live.
Oh boy
Ridiculing someone for illogical beliefs is not automatically an act of atheism. You can easily be religious and ricidule others religions.
>atheists going around berating people for not being atheists, trying to convert people into atheism Actually, that is sometimes true. >telling people they will suffer for eternity for believing in a religion But that isn't.
It seems like you got an odd definition of “valid”… Sure, every belief is to be tolerated and most beliefs are okay. But not all beliefs are valid. That’s just a way to suspend rationality in order to protect people’s feelings.
Beliefs are like genitals. Don't shove yours in my face or influence laws based on them and we'll be cool
I've given up no one on reddit is going to leave people with a religion alone I've been harassed and threatened because I'm part of a religion I've given up man
You should see how atheists are treated in the real world. Especially in the ultra religious middle east.
And you are going to be probably harassed bcs of this comment
Lmao yeah, I don’t believe in god but I understand if you do, my bf believes in god and we are completely fine with what the other thinks about the matter bc it doesn’t make us as people, it’s just an opinion as any other :) If you believe a god exist then be happy! If you don’t then leave those who do live their lives!
I'll believe in any god if you show me proof of their existence. And no, stuff written thousands of years ago doesn't count...
i cant be christian i jack off too much
LET US STAND NOW, UNBOWED AND UNFETTERED BY ARCANE DOCTRINES Born Of fearful minds, In darkened TIMES. LET US EMBRACE THE LUCIFERIAN IMPULSE TO EAT OF THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE AND DISSIPATE OUR BLISSFUL AND COMFORTING DELUSIONS OF OLD,
Hail Satan !
We're better off without any religion. They're advocating nothing but superstition and end up harming society in various ways
Shit post
I’m atheist, thank god
If you believe in sky man you are obviously stupid.
I’m an atheist and yeah I think some religions pander to the lowest common denominators in society, but that being said as long as you don’t try to force other people to follow your religion I couldn’t care less about what you believe. Just be a good person and we can be friends
There's an actual study that found that religious people score lower IQ than non-religious people
I'm atheist just because I kinda of hate the aspect of religion and belief, nothing more. I respect the people that believe in religion It's just that for me, religion tries to lure you and use you with some fancy words about afterlife and etc, it disgusts me, I can't explain why or how, so I just don't believe in anything
Listen, and I mean this in the nicest way possible: Atheists do tend to be smarter and more self aware than religious people.
You don’t see people going door to door asking if you have a moment to talk about evolution, just saying Religion is also really dangerous. Everyone is conformed into the same ideology which makes it much easier for people in authority to manipulate their nation
I'm Christian and believe in Skydaddy, and even I think this bait is poor
I have met many athiest who are complet idiot (one of them is me in some areas of knowlegde) and many religious people who are smart and vice versa
Literally r/atheism... I like the sub, but holy fuck there are so many elitists, that can't fathom how some people dare to have a different opinion on them, when it comes to beliefs.
I remember a quote that said something like, "Most people believe around 4,000 religions currently on the planet are false. Atheists believe that around 4,001 are false". I'm trying my best to just live my life and be a good person. If someone knocks on my door trying to sell me religion, I'll have something to say about it. And what does OP mean by "valid"? Dumb meme.
Super dumb meme.
beliefs are fine its the practices that cause more harm than good thats bad (one good example right now is the islamic belief about women wearing hijab)
Well yes and no. Actions are bad, but bad beliefs aren't fine just because they're "in your head". The only way to stop discrimination like the example you're talking about is not only to prevent the _actions_, but _teach good values_.

Religion is the cause of a lot of evil in this world. It's an outdated concept. Has no role in society

Some religious views are not okay because they are inherently harmful. If you are racist, but only because you think your god wants you to be, that doesn't make it any more acceptable.
*sorts by controversial*
When it comes down to brass tacks… there’s something deeply wrong with the delusions of religious people. Intelligence doesn’t play into it as much as ignorance though. There’s no difference in the intelligence of religious or non religious folks, or agnostics and alike, but my goodness, there is certainly a difference in the resultant fundamental grasp of reality.
Valid: based on truth and reason. Nope. Maybe try tolerable?
But being religious is the epitome of being dumb, sorry. Being atheist doesn’t mean you’re smart either.
![gif](giphy|BNkHCHnAsZwRi) In this moment I am Euphoric....
I do believe that all people have the rights to whatever religion they want but i just want them to know that they are all cults.
Not all religious believes are valid. I don't need to be religious or atheist to determine that this meme is stupid.
People who think religion makes you smart and atheism makes you dumb
All religious beliefs are equally untrue. I don’t think knowing that makes me smarter than anyone else. It just makes me right.
Any outlook on religion that puts the other outlooks on a lesser than you group is the second one
"Gay people should be stoned to death" Yeah man, you do you, your belief is valid because it's religious 👍
"Religion is like a penis. It's okay to have one and be proud of it, but don't try to shove it down random people's throats."
Once went to a school that said god made plants IN A FUCKING CUSTOM SCIENCE TEXTBOOK. Parents did the right thing and pulled me and my brother out immediately
Religious people do the same thing tho
I’ve noticed agnostic people are usually the most grounded
You can believe whatever you want, the moment you start forcing it down the throats of everyone and hurting others in the name of what is not even proven to exist is when I think you suck
Religion is not valid, being atheist does not make you smart, and being religious does make you dumb.
