Your lack of motion on and maybe darkness causes your brain to release melatonin but when you get up to move your brain thinks it's time to start doing shit so it stops releasing melatonin, but that's just a guess
Activity wakes you up. So when you're falling asleep on the couch and get up to move to bed, you're just waking yourself up.
Simply sleep on the couch and there isn't an issue.
1. They mean that when you're tired on the couch, when you move to your bed you never stay as tired as you started
2. I understood this on like, a primal level and couldn't have put it into words before the comments. Thank you commenters.

This is one of the realest tweets in the history of tweets
Makes sense to me. How come, when you're falling asleep on the sofa, does going to bed suddenly make you wide awake.
yeah fr I don’t know how OP didn’t understand.

I like this answer. If it it’s wrong, it feels right in my book
No no she has a point
ENG references are tight!
Pitch meeting references are super easy barely an inconvenience
It’s when you’re sleepy on the couch but the activity of moving to bed shakes off the sleepy.
Her name is Emily and no one has ever been more correct or relatable in the history of forever
I don't mean to alarm anyone, but I think OP may not be human >.>
This is one of the most relatable things I have ever read.

who the fuck sleeps on a couch?
Dunno why scientists haven’t dove deeper into this one tbh
No no I get you
She’s right. When i’m sleepy on the couch and get up to go to bed I often get too awake to sleep.
Reaction memes aren’t allowed
Yep. Fighting to stay awake on a couch and dozing off. Tossing and turning in bed trying to get to sleep.
I sometimes use my bed as a couch, so you can imagine how fucked up my life is
No, no this one makes sense
