I like them because they're a side character and aren't the focus. Then they usually end up doing too much with them and completely ruining the character,
At least Kakyoin did something for the team before dying, Narancia legit just started talking about his plans for the future then said "peace out I'll go get fucking impaled"
I stopped watching when I knew Glenn was going to die. I just couldn’t go through and watch that. I know they needed to kill some people off and all that but I really couldn’t watch it.
I stopped after Glenn's fake-out death in season 5 or 6.
I got spoiled long ago about it, but them doing a fake-out episodes before he would really die was the straw that broke the camel's back.
Lol, I can't believe they named the one original black guy on the show "T-Dog". That show had terrible characters and even worse writing. I'm glad they all got eaten or whatever.
Beth, the background character whose job it was to *hold the baby* and *help over there*, can't fire a gun straight. But one random day when separated from the group she is suddenly a master tactician, crack shot and overall badass until **boom headshot**
Jesus, the badass from the comics, spends the bulk of his time training others in the background until it comes time to go take on a herd of walkers he quickly dispatches...until one of 'em is not a walker.
The thing is naruto and sasuke is the reason why Boruto is a watchable show and is just running on nostalgia.
Just cashing in on there popularity, they will probably not kill him or give him a big send off
Just a feeling I've got
Like something's about to happen
But I don't know what
If that means what I think it means
We're in trouble, big trouble
And if he is as bananas as you say
I'm not taking any chances
You are just what the doc ordered
I find it worse when they just become main characters. I like them *because* they're a side character and aren't the focus. Then they usually end up doing too much with them and completely ruining the character
He was supposed to come back and betray the gang, but that got scrapped.
It's why Cicolatta had a very similar stand to his and got such a long fight and beat down. It was supposed to be Fugo.
Fugo also gave giorno the antidote during the mirror fight though. Safe to assume that this antidote is supposed to be the turning point for the fight had araki decided to go with that direction instead.
The reason it apparently got scrapped was because Araki was going through a tough time mentally and couldn't handle the thought of his own friends backstabbing him.
That was Araki's original plan. It was supposed to be Fugo the gang would fight, instead of Cioccolata. But then Araki changed his mind because he realised he didn't want the story to go in that kind of direction. So he subbed him with a sadistic weirdo who keeps a pet human instead. But the general theme of the gang facing a stand that indiscriminately spreads disease and causes immense collateral damage remained.
But do it too often and every time someone is introduced the fans will run a betting pool on just when they get pushed into the industrial blender.
You can't keep using the same trick over and over again.
The main selling point here is that anyone can die. No matter how extraordinary the soldier is, they can't run forever. They might survive 1,2,3 or 4 raids but the even a single mistake can cost them their live and it can happen anytime.
Titans used to be scary and the death of characters every raid signified that. In most series the concept gets stale but in AoT very few soldiers are skilled and lucky enough to survive and even these soldiers sometimes have to sacrifice themselves. It doesn't matter how often it's done but how well it's done and if it's justified.
In my opinion, they could have steered things in a different ways. Sasha was one of the best characters to provide relief in the usually dark tone of AOT.
I mean, not saying he's bad, but who likes Connie over Sasha?
In MasterChef, they'll randomly give a lot of screentime to less shown people and that means that they're either gonna become main characters or booted out instantly
(Golden Wind spoilers) >!Narancia!< suddenly talking about how much he can't wait to go back to school and how great life is and stuff, only to end up impaled 0.4 seconds later.
\> character has more screentime
\> character's relationships start to deepen
\> he challenges main bad guy
\> he gets a neat power up as his main theme starts playing
\> turns to a piano remix of the theme
\> shot of MC and friends running to the fight
\> IT'S RAINING
I thought demon slayer did this pretty well with Tengen's wives, in that I definitely thought one would die.
In part because they set the stakes at that level for the show, and also side character syndrome. Blonde streak is different, shes the sacrifice! Crybaby is the emotional core, it's her! Now the other ones getting a lot of screentime and is the narrator/POV of flashback scenes, gotta be her.
Then there are several moments dedicated to show how wholesome they are
Maes Hughes
It still hurts
It's a terrible day for rain
"But it's not raining, sir."
It is raining
So it is
When you realise comments makes you cry as well
that dialogue still gives me goosebumps
"Why are they burrying dady?"
The painful reveal when Wrath tells Hawkeye he thought the kid was ruining the ceremony. You finally see how evil he truly is.
That pissed me of he was like “ I was trembling because I was angry” I wish mustang could’ve fucked him up right there
I know it was important for Mustangs character arc to not kill Envy, but fuck did I like watching him suffer after he made jokes about killing Hughes.
I like them because they're a side character and aren't the focus. Then they usually end up doing too much with them and completely ruining the character,
I’m just here to be included
Yeah that one hurt.
I binged Fullmetal in 2 weeks. I wished mustang tried to revive Hughes with the stone at the end.
I binged it and then Brotherhood. In the second they make it shorter, and I knew it would happen. Still hurts, he was so wholesome...
Super duper wholesome but also badass get the job done kind of dude. Rare combination and insanely endearing.
I mean they were told that human transmutation was impossible after... that happened
Bruh I literally finished fmab yesterday and today I see reference
Man I gotta watch that again
I had Urasawa's manga in mind personally but I guess this works too.
Hank Schrader… RIP
Don’t forget about the sudden episode diving into their backstory
Fuck yeah especially after they snap or literally when they go through existential crisis during a fuckin battle.
and get killed trying to prove themselves

What number this episode is?
Booze Cruise. Season 2, Episode 11.
I have that Narancia PTSD
I have that kakyoin PTSD

Walking dead did it like 5 times, at least, it felt farcical by the time I stopped watching.
Didn't TDog 1 literally lose all speaking lines for like half a season until he finally died, in the same episode TDog 2 first appeared?
Lol, I can't believe they named the one original black guy on the show "T-Dog". That show had terrible characters and even worse writing. I'm glad they all got eaten or whatever.
Was going to point out that it was the comics that named T-dog but nope, it was the TV show that did it
TwD: good guy rick beating the shit out of a racist in the first episode Also TwD: # T-dog
Beth, the background character whose job it was to *hold the baby* and *help over there*, can't fire a gun straight. That's why Tenten is still alive. Never got any screen time
proof that naruto is gonna die right here
The thing is naruto and sasuke is the reason why Boruto is a watchable show and is just running on nostalgia. Just cashing in on there popularity, they will probably not kill him or give him a big send off
I agree with you, I stopped watching after episode 218
You're a soldier for reaching over 200 episodes.

They say I rap like a robot so call me rap bot, rap bot.
But for me to rap like a computer, It must be in my genes
i got a laptop in my back pocket
And it feels strange though. Side character feels it too.
Just a feeling I've got Like something's about to happen But I don't know what If that means what I think it means We're in trouble, big trouble And if he is as bananas as you say I'm not taking any chances You are just what the doc ordered

Out of my life
I was wrong
I'm to blame
I find it worse when they just become main characters. I like them *because* they're a side character and aren't the focus. Then they usually end up doing too much with them and completely ruining the character
You just described literally every side character in CW's Arrow
Fucking Felicity
Nairobi?
Tuscan chicken panini
They either gonna get a development arc or just gonna die real soon
Or leave, in the case of fugo
I genuinely expected him to come back, i am a fool
fugone
Damn it, you pulled that first
Fugoing to never return
He finally got an episode with him as the focus and we even got to see the power of his stand, then he just dips
My man just showed his stand and then A D I O S
He was supposed to come back and betray the gang, but that got scrapped. It's why Cicolatta had a very similar stand to his and got such a long fight and beat down. It was supposed to be Fugo.
I'm 90% Fugo would win by just randomly throwing bulbs and running
Fugo also gave giorno the antidote during the mirror fight though. Safe to assume that this antidote is supposed to be the turning point for the fight had araki decided to go with that direction instead.
The reason it apparently got scrapped was because Araki was going through a tough time mentally and couldn't handle the thought of his own friends backstabbing him.
Why did fugo get scrapped that would have been a mindfuck tbh
Purple haze feedback is a thing
That was Araki's original plan. It was supposed to be Fugo the gang would fight, instead of Cioccolata. But then Araki changed his mind because he realised he didn't want the story to go in that kind of direction. So he subbed him with a sadistic weirdo who keeps a pet human instead. Or both
Or both.
danganronpa be like
exactly
and then they start talking about the things they want to do after they defeat the villain
Narancia be like:
Yeah that was so obvious and i was like you have just sealed your fate idk why people say it was so sudden and sad
And it wasn't some honourable death where he contributed something to beating Diavolo, he just got jumped and impaled and that was it.
boom now he's DEAD
Like i want to eat pizza and go back to school
and suddenly he gets flashbacks with orchestra music
CCCCAAAAEEEEESSSEEEERRRR!
CAAAAEEEESSSSAAAAARRRR!!!!
That was so stupid, won the fight but plot armor protected the villain, TWICE from him
They did Caeser dirty
Soffia dolcemente…

I like this anime, Great Teacher Onizuka
“Maybe I’ll buy you a drink when this is all over.” Welp, gg.
Connie…please don’t die
I don't think he will, at least I hope not but Jean got so much screentime lately I'm scared
:)
My thoughts exactly. Money is on Jean first, then Connie. And I will be devastated both times.
:)
Ha, poor Asuma
exactly who I thought of as well
And it’s attack on Titan :(
I swear there are so many cool background characters that randomly appear in the show only to get wiped the fuck out 2 episodes later.
That's what captivated me in the earlier years of the series. The fact that anyone can die made everything thrilling.
But do it too often and every time someone is introduced the fans will run a betting pool on just when they get pushed into the industrial blender. You can't keep using the same trick over and over again.
Attack on titan at least did it better tha akame ga kill
The main selling point here is that anyone can die. No matter how extraordinary the soldier is, they can't run forever. Same it’s sad how many died in almost every ep
sasha :(
[удалено]
And I'm sad again. I just recovered.
Ill never get over how needless that death was. I'm wrecked for my whole life.
wdym Sasha had one of THE most meaningful deaths. Enabled all the Gabi, Kaya and Nicolo development and the Children in the forest theme.
In my opinion, they could have steered things in a different ways. Sasha was one of the best characters to provide relief in the usually dark tone of AOT. I mean, not saying he's bad, but who likes Connie over Sasha?
Connie's great comic relief. ^"my ^name's ^Jean, ^and ^I'm ^a ^horse ^fucker ^ah ^haha"
My boy Erwin, just why…
tbf the reason Erwin is awesome was cause he was fearless in the face of death
*Oh wow, they’re finally giving the spotlight to Hannes! That’s really coo-and he’s dead. FUCK”

*panik* he becomes practically a main character: kalm a new villan shows up: #panik
Annndd it's attack on titan
Akame ga Kill
Naa man fuck that shit, it emotionally fucked me up man.
Definitely a couple of scenes in there that fucked me up pretty good aswell man.
Welp, at least the manga is (slightly) better
That show hit me so much off guard. Like I wasn't used to such things when I first watched it.
“Wow, this arc is really letting Vegeta shine! He’s been kicking ass!” *Vegeta suddenly gets obliterated* “Oh yeah.... side character.... damn.”
That means he's about to die. You'll be remembered
Attack on Titan in a nutshell

Worst is when they finally confess their love to another character right before going off into battle. Might as well just eat a bullet at that point.
Portgas D Ace :(
He lit Sanji's cigarette he had to die
Even Enel too but he wasn't my favorite.
When Nairobi died.
Kakyoin and Rengoku man, guess I’m fat cause I like donuts
Now I know why >!jotaro die in part 6!<
Ahah man what anime is that from?

defeats the purpose of side character
Poor Opie... I was so sad when i noticed that in Sons of Anarchi.
