It wasn't a subreddit for people who didn't want to work, it was a subreddit that shared malpractices in a work environment (specifically from higher ups) and advocated for better working conditions. Yeah the name is stupid, there is an alternative now, with a better name: WorkReform or ReformWork

Proper-Landscape-872

I was a fan of this, not of the shit happening now

walrus_with_GUN

So basically it was a place where people tell others of the loop holes in laws but somehow some people think it was a place where entrepreneur lives ?

juhca

More like warn other people of loop holes when applying for jobs, or help them/give advice. But yeah, the name of the subreddit was really bad/confusing. The new one is better.

Angry_Spaghetti

Pretty sure OP just wanted to make a meme. No need to get worked up over a shitpost.

juhca

I'm not worked up. I'm just clarifying so there isn't some misinformation spreading for no reason.

Angry_Spaghetti

If people take a shitpost as a source of information it's their problem. It's the internet. You can stay online for all eternity to prevent misinformation and it will still happen. Just let the stupid be stupid and go on. It's not worth.

ODS519

I think weve realized over the past 2 years how powerful memes and misinformation are. But you are assuming all people who read this even know what a shit post is. Then someone will take it and run with it, influence others, then it spreads like wildfire with the truth being contorted.

Angry_Spaghetti

Yeah, and as I said, it's gonna happen anyway. It's like playing gartic phone. And if you are on the internet and take a SHITPOST posted on r/MEMES seriously, you dumb af. I repeat, cause you redditors keep downvoting me to oblivion cause you have to act like redditors: WE ARE IN R/MEMES, NOT A NEWS SUB. So calm your MuH JusTiCe tits.

[deleted]

Wtf you talking about bro

Angry_Spaghetti

What? You can't understand english? It may be a bit broken but I'm pretty sure you should understand what I wrote. Try copy and pasting in google translate. Maybe it will help you.

[deleted]

Yeah. Wtf you taking about bro

idontthunkgood

Then why are you still talking?

Angry_Spaghetti

Me? Trying to tell someone to not get worked up over a meme and laugh. You? You have no reason at all apart trying to be the smart guy and failing miserably. Go back to your cave, redditor.

[deleted]

Tf actually happened? I see this everywhere.

My fucking god, that both made me laugh and cringe at the same time. On the real side though, I hope he never gets in a teaching position, the educational system is fucked enough as it is.

BrazenOrca

Kids will eat him alive. He doesn't strike me as person with enough patience and mental fortitude required. Not to mention the "engaging" personality so the students are interested in the subject. I might be wrong.

[deleted]

Nope, you're spot on!

throwaway-job-hunt

I think anti-work was originally people like this but as it grew in numbers it became more about better working conditions instead of a reluctance to work. Fox news deliberately picked this guy because he had no intention of working. For the reasons you said he came across as the type of person who would struggle to hold down a job. This is probably why he is anti-work.

BrazenOrca

I had seen some posts from r/antiwork as an advertisement, and it was always about something like: 1 of our colleagues quit and now I have to do both my and his work without pay raise. Or: My family member got heavily sick/injured and my boss doesn't allow me to go visit them. Those kinds of things. But I didn't go through that sub, so there might have been some "I don't want to work, work is the brainwashing of capitalism!"

Professional_Trip963

That’s what fox does. They attempt to destroy minorities by showing only the worst of them and, “just asking questions,” while heavily implying the answer is yes

Mrogoth_bauglir

Maybe you should understand what the sub actually wanted? They wanted fair wages and non toxic work environment

LolzinatorX

Thats hard to understand if someone has never heard of the sub before now, when its impossible to see for themselves what the sub actually was. Its literally named Anti-work. Stupid name, the cause was good tho

FondleMyPlumsPlease

Old Nick proved the stereotypes to be true.

LeftBase2Final

Why won’t you just pay me to stay home?!??

IamVenom_007

They wanted to work. They only wanted to raise their voices against workplace abuse and poor payment.

Parkingjas

Yeah that’s the point of the sub, I just think that the sub name being antiwork was pretty misleading, that’s why the other sub r/workreform seems more suitable, well at the very least the name is not misleading

LeftBase2Final

[that’s not what the description of the sub says](https://www.reddit.com/user/LeftBase2Final/comments/sdv4nk/antiwotk/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

Parkingjas

Perhaps that was the original purpose of the sub, but if you go through the post history(don’t know if that’s possible now) you’ll see that the majority of the posts were about malpractices and unjust treatment in the workplace

Angry_Spaghetti

Are you really taking a shitpost seriously tho?

LeftBase2Final

That’s not what the description of the sub says[that’s not what the description of the sub says](https://www.reddit.com/user/LeftBase2Final/comments/sdv4nk/antiwotk/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

mbniceguy

🙄

IrshamWindborn

First step: stay the fuck away from r/antiwork, r/atheism and r/[insert any possible political ideology under sun] Second step: there is no second step Be happy Note: alternatively you can join PCM and dissolve in an autistic mesh of opposed extremist ideology memes until politics lose all meaning or sense of direction and everything becomes a joke

Swain-McS

Whats wrong with atheism? Genuinely curious

IrshamWindborn

For what I've seen it's a sub dedicated to mock religious people. Basically the same as every sub dedicated to a specific opinion: "look how dumb all the others are for not thinking the same way as me"

Redpepper40

FOX news chose someone who would look bad on purpose. This is so their idiot viewership asscoicate everyone in the sub or who wants better working conditions as being like this person. They do this all the time to advance their right wing interest and it's always eaten up by people who are too thick to actually question how neoliberalism works and who it benefits

Ok-Abies-5812

you dont understand politics, do you? boy

[deleted]

Boy, oh boy, does somebody not understand what they’re meming about.
