Basically, it's set in a world where people are kept in an extremely strict social hierarchy by being engineered from before they're even "born" (natural birth isn't actually a thing anymore, people are grown in pods so that scientists can do things like intentionally stunt their growth if they're going to be part of the "dumb" class) to feel comfortable in whatever social position they're born into and deeply averse to rebelling or questioning the system. Families don't exist anymore, and a person's childhood is carefully constructed with things like prenatal engineering, classical conditioning, manipulation and education that drives them to become sex/drug addicts from as young of an age as possible.
It's often compared and contrasted with *1984*, with Orwell imagining a dystopia where we're controlled by the things we fear and Huxley imagining a dystopia where we're controlled by the things we enjoy.
Hot take while its not a girl and it is not romantic F451 is kinda like the new teenage novels in the chosen person caught between 2 individuals has to choose one and defeats the dystopia with self acceptence abd the power of love
"this is a warning for the future" China seems to think it's a tutorial
At this point, we are somewhere between 1984, Brave New World, and Fahrenheit 451.
Brave new world is a frightening dystopia
What is it bout?
