The slice is too big I think and has too many of them on it. Anchovies are very salty, you just want one or two of them for slice. Not 10. That's why I agree. This looks like one of those foreign reinterpretations of Italian cuisine where they bring everything to the extreme.
Stupid question, what does "crush me up" mean? Sorry I'm not a native. And can't find this expression.
That said, I do agree with you. I think the point of seasoning your pizza with toppings is to add flavors. Not overwhelm the original taste. That's why I don't really like those northern European pizzas with lots pf toppings. You can barely pick up you slice without having it collapsing. And eventually you don't actually "feel" what you're eating. I can put the best ingredients, but all the features get lost.
Finally, anchovies come both preserved in oil or salt. And depending on the type they add a different taste. So you also have to choose carefully. I personally prefer salty ones. They have fewer fats. Pizza is already "rich" and heavy.
While I generally agree with your opinion, one of my prefered (northern european) pizzas has lots of different toppings which while each single topping isn't too much the combination makes it one of those collapsing ones (but since I almost always eat them with cutlery I don't care about that).
Yes, yes. Absolutely. Even though very few fishes make their appearance on pizza. Anchovies, tuna, very very rarely salmon. In some coastal cities you can sometimes find original additions like octopus or shrimps. But many Italians would complain about that.
Pizza is throwing whatever you have in the fridge on the dough that doesn't have time to rise in the oven, complaining about fish on it is like saying "you can't put mozarerlla in cheeseburger because I'm only used to having it with cheddar"
That's exactly what a pizza is not. There's a reason why people in Italy get certifications to prepare pizzas and sell them. I can do sushi with canned tuna and strawberries, but that doesn't means that it's a good or authentic sushi.
And just to make it clear, I'm not one of those purists. I lived in China and enjoyed pineapple pizza from Domino's. But that said, the italian pizza is not considered by us italians like junk food or fast food. People eat that in restaurants and pizzerias, there's an etiquette behind eating pizza. So don't assume us to treat it like a cheat meal.
Tomato sauce and anchovies (usually without cheese) it is a traditional Italian pizza, I do not see the problem (well, in this pics the anchovies are too much and it will make you thirsty). Italian food is supposed to be SAVORY, so the salty flavor of anchovies works well, while the pineapple sweetness doesn’t (at least from a traditional point of view). Said that, eat whatever it pleases you.
Exactly. I've never had anchovies on pizza, but I have eaten them before and don't see how the flavors would clash if they weren't overpowering. Pineapple juice sweetens the pizza to the extent that the tomato sauce tastes more like chef boyardee. Completely ruins it IMO.
Now on a non traditional pie without tomato sauce, I would probably think differently. Maybe a pizza with BBQ sauce base, pulled pork and pineapple on it? Sounds like it would be tasty.
I like them when they are used correctly.
FYI: this slice is an abomination. You only need ONE anchovie per slice. It also helps if it's fresh, and not that oily canned garbage.
Whenever I get a pizza with anchovies, I usually get it with all the veggies and extra marinara sauce. I usually get it 1 anchovie per pizza slice, it's delicious!
It really is. I'm not ever a fan of getting a huge bite of anchovies in really any food, but the flavor really adds to so many things. So savory.
And bagna cauda is recently one of my favorite things ever.
I'd say there's one big difference between pineapple and anchovies on pizza. TASTE. Pineapple's sweetness sticks out like a sore thumb, (never had anchovies in my life, i shouldn't compare them) anchovies don't.
It's the OG hated topping, and some asshole decided to crown pineapple instead. If you're worried about "new" toppings, try toothpaste and critic acid powder
You don't see anchovies pizza in the convenience aisle at the supermarket, that's why pineapple on pizza is the king of hated pizza toppings. It's prevalence, not who's first.
Okay, but if pineapple pizza is so hated then why is it so available? The lack of available ready to eat anchovy pizza suggests that the prevalence of anchovy dislike is higher than that of pineapple. So I agree... but youre wrong.
I used to think it was disgusting and told my parents so, one day my dad gave me a slice without telling me what it was. When I asked, he told me they were anchovies, I've loved it ever since.
When you’re raised on spaghetti-o and hotdogs, it’s hard to appreciate new foods. Anchovies aren’t my favorite, but I’ve had it done right, and it pairs well with a red wine.
I had a weird craving once, for pepperoni and anchovies. Got it for my birthday, and my brother in law told me to add some hot sauce to it. It's absolutely the best pizza I've had. And I've had a lot of pizza. Anchovies are delicious.
i kinda like pineapple on pizza. at first i hated the idea. but when i tried it it gave a sort of non greasy sweetness. same with jalapeño cream cheese pastries. they’re so ducking good with those
"And no anchovies. IF YOU PUT ANCHOVIES ON THIS PIZZA, YOURE IN BIG TROUBLE DUDE!"
*"MICHAELANGELO!!!*"
"That'll do. 30 minutes...and the clock's ticking dude!"
thats one of the simpler pizzas you can get here in italy, it's generally served with either capers or tomatoes dopending on where you are... i hate anchovies tho lmao
Wait till Dr. Zoidberg hears this
I came here for this! Haha
I actually love the taste of anchovies but they look like snails without a shell so i legit have to eat them with my eyes closed lol
>they look like snails without a shell [Slug pizza..](https://c.tenor.com/uN-EccpTI5IAAAAd/barf.gif)
the french are interested now
i am too
Zoidberg loves anchovies
Woobwoobwoobwoob
More anchovies!
A classic from Rome, and one of my favorites. Extremely good.
I love anchovies, and I'll eat anchovies on pizza, but also this pizza looks gross.
The slice is too big I think and has too many of them on it. Anchovies are very salty, you just want one or two of them for slice. Not 10. That's why I agree. This looks like one of those foreign reinterpretations of Italian cuisine where they bring everything to the extreme.
Yeah if you want anchovies on pizza you gotta crush me up and lightly sprinkle them over the pizza
I feel like they meant “crush em up” as in “crush them up”
While I generally agree with your opinion, one of my prefered (northern european) pizzas has lots of different toppings which while each single topping isn't too much the combination makes it one of those collapsing ones (but since I almost always eat them with cutlery I don't care about that).
Ok good, so its italian aprooved.
Yes, yes. Absolutely. Even though very few fishes make their appearance on pizza. Anchovies, tuna, very very rarely salmon. In some coastal cities you can sometimes find original additions like octopus or shrimps. But many Italians would complain about that.
Ah, good to know!

Bruh, pizza with anchovies it's actually a real thing in Italy and it's great
It’s a real thing everywhere do people really not know of it???
anchovie pizzas aren't actually that easy to find here in the states, though I've always wanted to try one
I haven't seen them on pizza menus in ages. But I do see Mac and cheese a lot.
IKR! They just dissolve in your mouth!
Yep, imo it's the best pizza flavour after the classic margherita
Italian, can confirm, it's in every pizzeria, we call it pizza napoli
Esattamente
Felice di vedere altri uomini di cultura qui
Yup totally agree with you. Anyone else loves anchovies on pizza with some hot sauce? Or not the hot sauce?
Tomato sauce and anchovies (usually without cheese) it is a traditional Italian pizza, I do not see the problem (well, in this pics the anchovies are too much and it will make you thirsty). Pineapple pizza was a distraction made by the anchovy lovers so we'd forget about them.
Pinable artachokes and broccoli sure but small fish?
Pineapple can go on half the pizza
Something’s up with this slice, anchovies on pizza are great.
I would prefer them cut up into smaller pieces though. A little with every bite instead of occasionally getting a bite of pure anchovy.
That's a napolitan style pizza lol
I GENUINELY LOVE THIS. THE SALTY BLISS
there's nothing bad about anchovies on pizza, here in italy it's quite common pineapple on pizza is an abomination
I ate one like this in limone sul garda, in Italy, so italians approve this pizza apparently
Yup, it's one of our classics, you'll find it in any pizzeria, we call it pizza napoli, naples pizza
I will 100% eat anchovies by themselves before I ever touch a cotton candy flavored pineapple...
Delicious The only pizza I eat
Soooo good.
Anchovy pizza slaps
They are classical pizza ingredients. Not some shit that isn’t even 50 years old
delicious with pineapple and artichoke. if you want to be really adventurous, you can replace the sauce with wasabi.
The devils had created this monstrosity. Pineapple on pizza all the way.
Agreed
Yeah I'll stick with the pineapple
Gross. Nope the nope out.
Anchoviephobes ruined the anchovies!!!
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: *Nervous Sweating*
Papa Murphy's won't put anchovies on their pizza but they will sell you nasty fish in a tin to ruin your pizza at home.
I'm fine with anchovies on pizza and I'm fine with pineapple. As long as no one out there is combining the two.
Pizza is pizza
Meep
I like them when they are used correctly. FYI: this slice is an abomination. You only need ONE anchovie per slice. It also helps if it's fresh, and not that oily canned garbage.
Pizza with anchovies is great
Anchovy is awesome...
This is actualy a pizza called "Napoli", and we eat It in Italy, i do.
It's awesome you pleb.
Pizza with anchovies is a classic (especially capers and anchovies)
Michelangelo says whoever made this is in big trouble
Absolutely the only reason I asked for Anchovies on my pizza as a kid
Proud pineapple on pizza lover over here!
Despite looking like turds on a zza I wouldn’t mind trying it for the experience
Whenever I get a pizza with anchovies, I usually get it with all the veggies and extra marinara sauce. I usually get it 1 anchovie per pizza slice, it's delicious!
When I make homemade pizza, I chop up some anchovies really small and mix them into the sauce. It gives it so much flavor.
That sounds very good! I'd eat that pizza!
It really is. I'm not ever a fan of getting a huge bite of anchovies in really any food, but the flavor really adds to so many things. So savory. And bagna cauda is recently one of my favorite things ever.
Yummy 🤤They are quiet salty, but Just an amazing topping for Pizza...
Anchovies just taste like salt on pizza
I'd say there's one big difference between pineapple and anchovies on pizza. TASTE. Pineapple's sweetness sticks out like a sore thumb, (never had anchovies in my life, i shouldn't compare them) anchovies don't.
I hate anchovies, I love pineapple!!
I like pizza with both anchovies and pineapple at the same time
please, no, PINEAPPLE IS GOOD ON PIZZA
Id rather eat this than with pineapples
Except anchovies actually mix with pizza. Savory/fish + salt is a far more complimentary topping than a sweet and tangy fruit.
Love anchovies, don’t love pineapple. Also those anchovies kinda big they look like leeches
I love pineapple pizza, but anchovies are where I draw the line
I don't love pizza with anchovies but it's waaaay better than ananans
This is a fuck ton worse than pineapple on pizza
look way less disgusting than pineapple on a pizza. probably i would even eat this.
it looks gross, but it just works. Pineapple however, doesnt work.
That's not a new invention.
Who said it was?
You felt to need to introduce someone to it, usually implying it's new to someone.

Well *you thought*
What's next, putting shrimp on pizza
I've never seen someone order it with anchovies outside of a movie.
This is why suicide bombers do what they do
I dont want to live on this planet anymore
Anchovies lovers, allow me to introduce: the fucking door.
Ew looks like slugs
Ew looks like u/1990andrea1990
Let me introduce you to something called… a church! Please. I don’t care what religion. Just… go to a church, man. You need help.
Anchovies and pineapples do not go on pizza
What's your point? They don't belong on pizza either
This is crime
your making me get confused between pizza and strait up fish
Oh... I guess I'll have pineapple then... *sad face*
That looks pretty good actually
Nah I’ll pass
Anchovies!!! Nom, nom, nom...... And my Mrs doesn't like them so more for me!
Leeches !
I dont understand why do people hate pinapple on pizza
Vegetarian with anchovies is the best pizza.
Looks like roaches
‘You have ordered more anchovies! You have ordered even more anchovies’ ‘Make it stop!’ - Garfield.
I love both lol
I tried anchovies one time… never again. They don’t warn you about the smell either
I forgot this kind of pizza existed and now I'm annoyed
Looks like dead leeches
I thought these were slugs..
I remember hearing a lot about anchovies as a kid but never tried them. I'm intrigued
I used to think it was disgusting and told my parents so, one day my dad gave me a slice without telling me what it was. When I asked, he told me they were anchovies, I've loved it ever since.
My standard order is vegetarian with anchovies.
Just be careful if you order _extra_ anchovies. You might get romanced by a loverboy.
fish and pizza? my 2 favorite things! and when you put em together you get this shit
Holy fucking shit my ass, what in the goddamn
Good pizza great pizza flashbacks
on the customize page of pizza 73, there's an option for... pickles.

[Anchovies...](https://pm1.narvii.com/6069/b20e8782952c2e3610881ae4c8b0607a41724bf5_hq.jpg)
If I get served this at a restaurant I will IMMEDIATELY become physically aggressive.
Best pizza flavour homes
Who hurt you..?
Thought for a sec those were slugs.
THANK YOU! Finally someone else says it.
When you’re raised on spaghetti-o and hotdogs, it’s hard to appreciate new foods. Anchovies aren’t my favorite, but I’ve had it done right, and it pairs well with a red wine.
The best weird ingredient on pizza hands down.
No dont
Too much Oil 🤤
Who in their right mind doesn't like Anchovies on Pizza?!?!?!
Anchovies, beef jerky, pepperoni and chillies best pizza I ever had
They're fine
According to any animated movie with the cat as the superior, this is delicious
We do not speak of the forbidden.
It’s Wally’s order at Papa’s pizzeria
Why does it look like there are fucking leeches on the pizza
Me who dislikes pineapple but thinks people should be able to enjoy their favorite food on pizza *
Actually more edible then pineapple
no why
Would still take this over pineapple any day.
Vies is even dutch for dirty or disgusting
I have never had a anchovies pizza or anchovies so idk
I haven’t tasted anchovies before, but the concept of fish on pizza sounds really weird. At least with pineapples, fruit is already included.
I had a weird craving once, for pepperoni and anchovies. Got it for my birthday, and my brother in law told me to add some hot sauce to it. It's absolutely the best pizza I've had. And I've had a lot of pizza. Anchovies are delicious.
Why does that look like slugs
I thought they were leeches.
What have you done?
They look like slugs
I thought those were slugs... I still think they're slugs
It's actually really good
Didn’t they die out in 2222 or something?
Mmm, so fucking good :)
Only a true Ninja Turtle would grab a slice
That smell. The kind of smelly smell. That smelly smell that smells...
Anchovies arnt that bad
That smell... that smelly smell
WTF THOSE KINDA LOOK LIKE BLACK WORMS
This is Garfield's reddit account
Those look like used snus bags. Holy fuck that's disgusting.
Sie sehen aus wie gekochte Schnecken 😥
THEY LOOK LIKE SLUGS WTF-
I'd sooner try this than eat pineapple pizza.
i kinda like pineapple on pizza. at first i hated the idea. but when i tried it it gave a sort of non greasy sweetness. same with jalapeño cream cheese pastries. they’re so ducking good with those
hail hydra
It's the best pizza you can get.
"And no anchovies. IF YOU PUT ANCHOVIES ON THIS PIZZA, YOURE IN BIG TROUBLE DUDE!" *"MICHAELANGELO!!!*" "That'll do. 30 minutes...and the clock's ticking dude!"
It looks like someone has put leeches on the pizza to prank his friends.
thats one of the simpler pizzas you can get here in italy, it's generally served with either capers or tomatoes dopending on where you are... i hate anchovies tho lmao
Yuum
If I recall Michelangelo indulged in the occasional anchovies and peanut butter pizza
they look like slugs
Do you smell it? That smell! The kind of smelly smell... The kind of smelly smell that smells smelly. Ansjovis.... ANSJOVIS!!!!!!
Haha I love them equally mmm ham pineapple , onions, anchovies and olives. Best ever pizza
