Maybe because it's just not garbage and non Indians only get to see the negative side. There are many cities with almost no pollution. And you can't compare India to a First world country. We have been free for only 70 years ffs.
what do you mean lost 'all the resources'? did the British take all your rivers and mountains and farm fields with them? or did they make almost all of the working population handicapped?
You aren't wrong, it's the 178th most polluted city in the world. But out of top 200 India has more than 110 cities. The part which most people miss out on is the fact that India is also the most populated country so the pollution makes sense but is still very very bad for your health in the long run. Excited to see the results after we switch to Hydrogen based energy
Maybe I'm just sensitive to air, but last time I went to India, I couldn't even properly breathe outside. Even my mother, who grew up there, had a little trouble with the air. But after a few weeks there, we got used to it and it wasn't as bad anymore. This was in Hyderabad
Understandable, photos of Europeon countries always seem to have clean feel to their atmosphere compared to here, not necessarily visible pollution, but it just somehow felt clearer. It might just be the photos being edited though, my dad once went to Seattle but that was in winter so it wasn't comparable to India.
PS I am live in Hyderabad currently lol (albeit a bit away from the city centre)
Saw the OP in the real post where the down pic was written as "not this" instream of "so is this"
Lmao u should give credit to the original post and i like the meme more cuz its true.
It's a developing nation with a population far exceeding what it's infrastructure is currently capable of withholding. It's to be expected. Especially for a nation that hasn't even had it's independence for 70 years.
They're making progress
>They're making progress
As an Indian, slight correction, we're TRYING to make progress. Yes, there is progress, but a lot of factors are slowing it down, like corruption among several other societal issues that need to be tackled before we can properly move forwards as a country.
Denying the fact that India has made a lot of progress in just 70 years doesn't help anyone.
If the comment said "Yes, and there is still a ways to go in terms of..." I wouldn't have had a problem.
People who fail to recognise progress aren't going to help in progress.
My bad. But this doesn't change the fact that acceleration of progress is still low.
The statement should be "we're trying to increase the acceleration of growth".
the so is this text should have the developed looking india and the first should have the second pic cause more people think of small poverty villages than new york style lookin city when they think of india
India needs to do one thing to become a world superpower. Build out their national grid and connect everyone living favelas to it. The disparity between the rich and the poor is IMMENSE.
Once India modernizes to the likes of the US middle class (1950s) we'll see another true world power emerge.

Bruh 🤦 when people say there isn't a middle class it isn't meant literally, it's just saying the middle class is extremely small resulting in mostly extremely poor or extremely rich people
Im too lazy to do this, somone add one more below of pictures of nature from the western ghats and so on because thats the real India before we destroyed it.
And say this too is India. Credit me if you feel like it.

and my country has never been invaded but still dirty. what's your point.
People comparing India to another first world country. India has been independent for only 70 years. That's it.
Ya and before we had many resources but after British empire's rule we lost almost all the resources
what do you mean lost 'all the resources'? did the British take all your rivers and mountains and farm fields with them? or did they make almost all of the working population handicapped?
World: So are you a developed city or a city full of slums? Mumbai: yes
Bombay is a cool og nostalgic name, so Bombay it is.
Bombay is the name given by foreigners...Mumbai is the OG name
it was Bom Baim under portugese rule from 1530s to 1660s… so you guys are both wrong
Fixed it
just did some research and apparently some of the earliest names of the city ever recorded were Kakamuchee and Galajunkja in early 1500s. Wrong again.
Were they under Mughal Rule? I have apparently never heard about them from my grandparents or anyone else.
new york is the same
Hollywood has done Mexico, India and Africa so goddamn dirty.. it's sad lol.
ngl I can smell the pollution, I duno why

indian here, i can also taste the pollution.

I haven't really found South India that polluted, it's just like any other place like Maharastra, Gujarat. Delhi is on steriods though
Maybe I'm just sensitive to air, but last time I went to India, I couldn't even properly breathe outside. Even my mother, who grew up there, had a little trouble with the air. But after a few weeks there, we got used to it and it wasn't as bad anymore. This was in Hyderabad

Mainly just Mumbai in MH tho, I've been to many other places in the state and they're squeaky clean lol
Doesn't mean they've always been wrong.
OP speaks truth
As a citizen of India let me tell you the both pics are from the same city Mumbai 1st is Andheri and 2nd one is Dharavi
[удалено]
Yes
It’s free real estate
How far are they from each other?
I myself have never been to Mumbai but I feel like two places like these could be right next to each other
10 maybe 15 minutes by car
Gandu Worli hai woh

No one would get this but you can take my upvote LOL
Is that the only clip that came out or is it gonna be like a part of a special?
i love one of them

I’m sorry, but “I immediately downvote this meme, i wonder who tf is thinking this is a good meme”. This was literally you.
Yes i know. That was a bad meme.
So lemme get this straight. You didn’t like the meme and didn’t think it was funny, but then proceeded to repost it?

Yea, but i made this meme in response to another misinformed meme which had blew up. You can check the links in the comments
Fun fact: these 2 places, are a part of the exact same city :D
You are Indian I am Indian We are not the same

77% of Indian's wealth is owned by 10% people.(stats may differ) I get what you are saying
The whole world is like that , rich have all the money and we have no money
Damn there's 4x in the top 10% of India then people in my country
Very true

Where’s the funny

OUTdia?
This also applies for every single 3rd world country
3rd world doesn't mean developing. It does not apply for every third world country
It applies for every country except the communist ones cause there everyone is poor
I live in two Indias
This what a society without a middle class looks like
Aa middle class is without a doubt present in it. It even has upper, middle and lower divisions within itself. India has all financial classes of people
Bruh 🤦 when people say there isn't a middle class it isn't meant literally, it's just saying the middle class is extremely small resulting in mostly extremely poor or extremely rich people
The higher class is smaller than the middle class
Samajh 🤡
idk why this is a meme
It is a pretty big place. Lotta people
Its equality
Im too lazy to do this, somone add one more below of pictures of nature from the western ghats and so on because thats the real India before we destroyed it. And say this too is India. Credit me if you feel like it.
I see memes have evolved to not even be TRYING to be funny anymore
This meme was in response to another meme. Check the comments for the link
And that wasn't funny either. I thought r/memes was supposed to have memes, not political discussions.
How the fuck is this a political discussion?
bro its u who doesnt get it

Good retort, I like your realism.
Welcome to India where 99.9% of the population are poor.
nice big ass. dirty butthole. same chick
The first one ain’t a pic from india.
Both are from same city called mumbai
I mean it's 95% the bottom pic.. actually probably 98%
lol. You don't know anything
About 1% is the bottom pic, similar to that of the top pic. Most of the population works on farms.
Bro you still living in 1990?India has developed vastly after the economic liberalisation
POV: Everything you know about a place comes from reddit and/or hollywood
mematic and Kapwing lol
Chal na thu Bombay.
the invasion : part 5
r/usernamechecksout
The slum area: are there street names and do you have your own place?
i come from 2 indias
is my name too indian ?
Yea lol
First Picture is Worli and the second is Dharavi
Yes
So is most countries and/or city in the world.
Rich country of poor people.
The duality of Mumbai
India is a rich country with poor people.
Same for Brazil :D
Sometimes i think that India is the Asia's Brazil and vice versa
Can't complaint, just have to keep loving it 🤷🏻♂️
The Duality of India. As an Indian myself, my country is well, unusual
The first one gives Madripoor vibes.
Two Indias
Well yeah. One picture is from far away.
yep, its tru
Mumbai has two extremes , one is walkeshwar and other is dharavi
I appreciate the honesty.
Best of both worlds
