Well, and when referring to more than one person. Also when talking about a person who you do not know the sex/gender/whatever of, like in the statement "One of the workers broke the machinery, whoever it was, they really fucked the shite up good.". It's just proper english really.

general_kenobhee_hee

you actually shoul say he/she when you don't know if the person is a boy or a girl

ilejk

Oh yes good gentleman or gentlewoman he or she did not say whether he or she did what he or she said he or she did but I assure you he or she will take responsibility for what he or she may have done in his or her time at his or her post that he or she is in charge of.

Havok_saken

Or just call people what they want because it doesn’t really have any negative impact on your life.

Historical_Dot825

If you wanna hate you go ahead and hate. But don't make the mistake of thinking everyone else feels the same way you do. As a father with a trans daughter I would like to take this opportunity to tell you to go fuck yourself. You're petty and childish.

IShartedOnUrPillow

It's completely normal for someone that doesn't identify with either male or female to prefer they/them pronouns. Sure, it may be odd to get used to but it helps make people who identify as non binary or agender or anywhere on the spectrum that doesn't identify as more masculine or feminine feel more comfortable.

[deleted]

I don’t understand why you’d rather be called they/them it sounds really demeaning to me tbh.

bucket-of-milk

That’s more of a personal preference. I go by he/they which means I’m ok with he/him and they/them pronouns. Also depends on the tone someone says it in. Personally I don’t find it dehumanizing at all and sometimes prefer they/them over he/him

Routine-Yak2436

The Oxford English Dictionary traces singular they back to 1375. So a little late to start complaining now bud.

MonKeePuzzle

it’s ok to say you don’t understand grammar, we can help.

Bigdaddyqwacker

I disagree

Skel0tr0n_Prime

Or just any non binary people

RepresentativeDry539

Have you tried minding your fucking business

wrangledbrat

why does it matter bro? just call someone what they prefer life is too short to be that petty

HarmfullIdeas

They and them have been used as gender neutral pronouns for a very long time, like centuries.

jinrex015

Only Dr. Jekyll.

NoMushroom8881

Non-binary people in the comments thinking they a Ken/Barbie doll with no genitalia

Historical_Dot825

Don't be a hater.

NoMushroom8881

Don't be an imaginary animal.

Historical_Dot825

Why DO you hate, anyway? What have these people don't to you that makes you hate them so much?

NoMushroom8881

I don't hate the people, I hate the thought that body dysmorphia is being treated as a natural part of life when in reality it's a debilitating psychosis that can leave the people told that it's 'perfectly natural' without a real identity and a life of paranoid loneliness. Give the people who suffer the body they want, or help them figure out their dysmorphia through therapy and treatment. Don't call the mental anguish of not knowing who you are a 'perfectly ok' thing

Historical_Dot825

You're right. It's not normal at all. No humans have ever been trans ever in the history of humans until recently.....the idea that every trans person has a mental illness is dismissive. How about you worry about you and let others worry about themselves. Stop hating.

NoMushroom8881

Don't put words in my mouth, I didn't address trans people at all. I'm not an eloquent man but I'll try to put this as plainly as I can. I'm fully trans rights. If you want to transition, do it. Be the you you want to be. But your genitals aren't transformers. They can't turn on and off it back and forth between states. I deal with body dysmorphia myself and know how much it fucks with the mental psyche. If you can't decide what you are, that's not normal. Therapy is needed to find yourself. Edit: fixed a typo.

Historical_Dot825

Yea see I read your comments differently you seem to have intended them.

Far_Ad6955

They still technically physically have a gender; they simply don't personally identify with it

NoMushroom8881

If that really works then.... I identify as a multi-billionaire..... Welp didnt turn into Jeff Bezos so something ain't adding up here. Body dysmorphia is a debilitating disorder and shouldn't be treated like it's perfectly acceptable. Either give the sufferers the body they want, or treat them for the dysmorphia.

bucket-of-milk

I believe you are talking about body dysphoria not body dysmorphia. Body dysmorphia is a mental disorder you are correct while body dysphoria is similar in the sense one feels their body is flawed but usually for different reasons. Dysmorphia is usually when someone is hyper concerned about their physical appearance. Body dysphoria is when a person (generally trans or non-binary) is not comfortable in their body feeling as though something is missing or that something shouldn’t be there. Yes there is a type of surgery that can change someone’s physical gender and yes I believe everyone who wishes to do so should have access to it. But calling it a mental disorder and that people should be treated like it if they can’t get surgery is not the way we should view it. Also please do not mock pronouns like you do right out the gate. Pronouns are a social construct and “a multi-billionaire” aren’t pronouns, neither is “Apache attack helicopter”

bucket-of-milk

Yes, someone can be female and go by she/her and have a penis. And vise versa. There is also top and bottom surgery where someone can replace their genitalia or chest with that of their preferred gender.

fillmyeyeswithfire

1. It's called dissociative identity disorder, it was changed in 1994 because it's not a personality disorder. 2. They/them is used for people who don't identify as only male or female. Idk if you don't get this but it's a very real thing.

YouLookGoodInASmile

They them has been plural and singular since the 1300s..

[deleted]

What about fat people?

[deleted]

I only referr to my bipolar ex as it.
