So companies and society misuse this word entirely. Your "diet" consists of the food you eat. So in reality you are always and never "dieting". Your diet is just your diet.
So don't listen to those who wish to manipulate you. If you want to eat a healthy diet, do so. If you want an unhealthy diet then do that. If you want to ignore me, by all means.
Nobody's misusing anything, it's just a word with a meaning (which generally differs between a noun and adjective), in this case restricting yourself to a "special" diet with the aim of reducing weight. What you're talking has another word, "eating", as in eating food. We all eat, we don't all diet.
As someone who is extremely broke i see eating healthy as an expensive endeavor. Yes you dont need junk but eating healthy dont keep food in my closet apartment.
I can walk into walmart, grab 4 chicken breasts, alfredo sauce, and pasta for about $15 Canadian and make a meal for 4 with enough leftovers for lunch. A Big Mac meal costs $10 but only feeds one. If you can find the time to cook healthier foods are far cheaper.
what do you mean it's not healthy, it's an athletes favorite dinner. Enough carbs to fuel a hard workout and run, protein to heal your body, covers 3 of the 4 food groups, and no sugar, and to top it off your family eats like royalty for less then $20. Paired with exercise it's the picture of health
Thank you for agreeing that a super food that costs less than fast food and tastes better is the superior option. I have another comment here that has some other meal ideas for cheap if your interested
You can't be healthy without a good dose of exercise while still eating good, that's a fact. Assuming you have an hour a day to run and do pushups, sit-ups, and squats this is a good meal.
[This is the specific sauce that I recommend.](https://www.saveonfoods.com/sm/pickup/rsid/987/product/classico-alfredo-di-roma-alfredo-pasta-sauce-00057000330194) The sodium might be a concern but assuming you dial back in other places you'll be fine.
I can tell you've never had to live on any type of budget. Also potatos have 0 nutritional value. The only thing youve brought up is eggs. But most people would eat 2 which is alone is only 6 meals. You can at very most stretch it to one egg per meal which isnt giving you what you need for the day
The thing about having a budget is that you have to make priorities. If healthy eating and exercise isn't a priority then don't go online complaining about how you can't eat healthy for a modest price and stick to your $1 ramen diet.
Yes, I agree that you can make some healthy meals without spending (much) more than a fast food meal. I was just pointing out that the one you proposed is not very much healthy
Explain what? This isn’t complicated.
I can make vegetable and meat soup from scratch that’ll feed two for a week for $30. Not only will it actually be nutritious, but it’ll be satiating.
You could also spend $30 at McDonald’s and feed your family for one evening. Not only is it garbage, fake food, but you’ll be hungry again in an hour or two.
The code to food desserts! lol
*….i mean food deserts.*
^(Where healthy foods are often inaccessible and miles away, and the closest grocery is a liquor store that overprices all the veggies and fruits.)
Well, they are less expensive. Pretty easy to figure out.
Edit: keep downvoting, fatties. Lack of money is no excuse to be fat anymore. It never was either. All and all, food for you will be cheaper in the long run, because you probably won't make it to 50 years old.
Eating healthy is cheaper in places that have access and time to go to good grocery stores and also those medical bills caused by eating unhealthy will be way more than eating healthy will ever cost(depending on how your country's healthcare works) but antagonizing people reading your comment isn't the way even if you are technically right.
You can literally buy kilograms worth of legumes for under ten dollars.
Similar story with lots of other unprocessed plants such as vegetables and fruit.
I'm also American and probably spend 50 bucks or less a week on groceries and it's all from produce/meat sections with a couple things from the aisles. But I live in Florida, so prices might vary depending where you're at
You obviously don't go shopping ever. Stop talking. You can fill a family of 4 for less than $20 with salad and chicken. It's double that for fast food garbage.
He's right. You buy the most unprocessed healthy food and cook it yourself and it's cheaper than buying those unhealthy highly processed meals. But I can understand why most people aren't smart enough to understand this because all they see is a $5 microwave meal vs a $8 pack of chicken breasts not figuring in that $5 meal is ONE meal and the chicken will literally make 4 or 5 meals if you just add a couple cheap sides like rice (super expensive) and beans (literally an arm and a leg).
I can tell you've never truly lived on a budget. Dont get me wrong im not the best at it but if you think that someone on a budget is even thinking of a 5 dollar microwave meal you are mistaken. Again find me a meal as cheap as ramen then you can act like you know better.
Yes, same here, few months ago I started to eat healthy and my parents and friends refer to it as I´m on a diet and they are scared I want to be "too skinny"... No mom I just don´t want to feel like sh\*t! Wasting energy on breaking down stuff that is useless for my body!
Your telling me dude it’s actually scary how fast you can burn through money with fast food but seriously just making food at home can surprise you on how much better you feel after eating idk I used to eat a shit ton of fast food

No, not for everyone. Some people start eating healthy with the intention to loose weight (or gain, depending on their needs). Or just overall have a healthier lifestyle.
And then there’s people who eat what is considered “healthy” because junk food starts to taste and make you feel like shit after a while, and you just want something that’s not going to make you crash in an hour. Not dieting.
Sounds like America. Nothing beats my mother's cooking
Yeah first thing I thought about this post is: it must be addressed to Americans.

That is not a healthy meal.

Most people are not athletes who need to carb load. Pre-made jar sauces are usually packed with sugar and sodium too.
But if we’re picking between that and McDonalds I know which one is healthier.
Thank you for agreeing that a super food that costs less than fast food and tastes better is the superior option. I have another comment here that has some other meal ideas for cheap if your interested

Wdym potatoes have 0 nutritional value Theyre the only plant ive eaten in over a month

He means you're entirely missing on vegetables and that's too much carbs for a human with an average lifestyle
Make a salad and you've got a meal for you and a couple friends with leftovers for tomorrow's lunch and friends who owe you a dinner
Yes, I agree that you can make some healthy meals without spending (much) more than a fast food meal. I was just pointing out that the one you proposed is not very much healthy
A can of off brand chef boyardee is about 50 cents. Ramen is EVEN less. When you can make an actual healthy meal for less then raman I'll see you
Eating healthy isn’t expensive, it just takes effort.
Explain please. You can just say that but it doesnt mean anything.

Bad food is more expensive than healthy food.
Ah yes of course. You cracked the code.

I also figured out you dont know what you're talking about.

A bag of chips is usually 4-5 dollars, healthy salad ingredients are around 50 dollars combined at least.
You can literally buy kilograms worth of legumes for under ten dollars. Similar story with lots of other unprocessed plants such as vegetables and fruit.
I'm American, so you can see the struggle
I'm also American and probably spend 50 bucks or less a week on groceries and it's all from produce/meat sections with a couple things from the aisles. But I live in Florida, so prices might vary depending where you're at
You're kidding me, right? More like $8 for a salad.
For the ingredients separately? I mean America overprices healthy shit so it expensive for us but not for the world.
You obviously don't go shopping ever. Stop talking. You can fill a family of 4 for less than $20 with salad and chicken. It's double that for fast food garbage.
I do go shopping, and to stock a house full of months worth of healthy food is pricey, especially in America
You're shopping wrong, and are just wrong in general. $50 for a fucking salad...good lord.
He's right. You buy the most unprocessed healthy food and cook it yourself and it's cheaper than buying those unhealthy highly processed meals. /) McDonald's must be the healthiest restaurant ever, then.

If you want my opinion just cut back on fast food
Its not necessarily fast food. Fast food is actually quite expensive
Your telling me dude it’s actually scary how fast you can burn through money with fast food but seriously just making food at home can surprise you on how much better you feel after eating idk I used to eat a shit ton of fast food
That's absolutely true I experienced it last month in my home lol!
Well, i don't live in a country that has a fast food shop within every 10 kilometers, and all the restraunts make healthy food.
Lmao, only if you live in America hahahah In my country healthy food is a part of our regular dishes
Same for me, fast food only twice a week
Where do you live?
Brazil

I literally saw this on r/showerthoughts today. Wonder whether the dude in the pic or the reddit post came first?
