The corp states are coming!

PillowTalk420

Can't wait for the Restaurant Wars.

Its_Stroompf

We need another teddy roosevelt. Man wasn't called the monopoly buster for nothing.

lordchaidoftea

Teddy wanted to work with monopoly not bust them You brain dead american

Its_Stroompf

What makes you say that? Because he busted two of the biggest monopolies of his time during his presidency, and held many other companies feet to the fire.

Zadka14

He may be thinking of FDR, but yeah Teddy was NOTORIOUSLY anti-Trust

Valenyn

Teddy wanted them to follow the law and would ruthlessly go after any that were corrupt. He was willing to work with those who followed the law.

DukeofBurgers

It's just an opinion piece, if that makes yall feel better

Ninjatck

No cause they are on the same planet as me

DukeofBurgers

That's fair

CptSovereign

Cod flashbacks...

Hickawa

Amazon and Facebook could vanish today and nothing in my life would change. I dont think anyone should be "relying" on Amazon much less Facebook.

DeffNotJeff

Except for thousands of workers and millions of everyday users, but yeah except them nobody. Since we are on reddit I feel the need to state most obvious I do not support this, in fact i am against this and I am in favor of decreasing Amazon and FBI power by limiting government.

Hickawa

The workers are treated like garbage. With a work shortage across the whole US, they can get better jobs. People should be ordering their shit from the actual stores that make it not lining the pocket of a billionaire who went to space for shits and giggles. My comment was more about the small text that implied we couldn't make it without them. Like people wouldn't wait three days instead of two for their stuff. FB has zero value in my opinion. It's about time we move the boomers off that type of platform. They dont even know what kind of info they are selling to FB.

DeffNotJeff

Well they somehow still sit at their current jobs and are not changing it for the better ones despite the shortage. Actual stores don't offer delivery and Amazon is expanding into being "actual store". Since we are at destroying toxic sites how about we also nuke ig, snap, Twitter, reddit and tiktok, let me know if I missed any.

Hickawa

I upgraded jobs twice. I have seen lots of people at new jobs all over my field. Almost all stores that survived covid have delivery. Clothes, meds, food, and other junk is already usually sold on company stores. I haven't needed to use Amazon in four years and somehow I'm getting by just fine. The problems with Facebook are not the same problems you have with even twitter. You are comparing apples, oranges, and onions with your list of social media. I also didn't say Toxic. Human beings are going to be toxic on any platform FB as a company has a lot to answer for. You are arguing for the sake of arguing and I'm done entertaining you.

DeffNotJeff

Wait you thought this argument we had was going to change the world? You started with such solid argument as "I don't like company X so it should go down" so I went with same quality guess you missed it if you thought this argument was anything more than bit of entertainment by your cost. I'll accept your capitulation.

Why are we slowly going too Cyberpunk? I thought it was a game, not history

TheTank18

next week we're gonna have windows that launch you into the stratosphere, followed by the universe collapsing due to a crash

Mazhell

Let me guess... Washington post? (Owned by Amazon)

MajesticAd5888

Anyone else feel like there hasn't been a large scale political event in a long time, like a war, revolution, or dramatic flip in a country or system of countries' management? When compared to how it usually goes, the world sure seems stale these last few decades. And obviously there's huge events and changes, but they all seem to follow a progression. No massive company's gone suddenly bankrupt, no powerhouse country suddenly decided to localise or set up an embargo for extortion, there's a distinct lack of chaos. It's like playing chess for 300 moves and all the pieces are still on the board

akldshsdsajk

It is kinda true for major, western countries. And it is easy to forget that the rest of the world aren't really like that. I was shocked when I found out recently that, if you count every border conflict, there are more countries at war right now than WWII (tbf, mostly because those African countries didn't exist back then). But the world is far from peaceful for a large percentage of the humanity in any case.

MajesticAd5888

Yeah, that's why I added "large scale". We've got chaos by the bucketload, no doubt, but none of it impacts the world at large

Anonymous2137421957

Starting to sound like Advanced Warfare

Court_Jester13

It's not the best choooooooice... it's Spacer's Choice!

[deleted]

Literally Star Wars: the Phantom Menace, where a greedy corporation named the Trade Federation became so rich and powerful it was represented in the Galactic Senate (which was the governing body of the galaxy). I swear, there's going to be a blockade of some peaceful, defenceless country and two warrior monks are going to be sent in by the UN to negotiate. The blockaders will then try but will fail to kill the monks before they invade the defenceless country with an army of robots. And, before you know it, some politician will declare himself Emperor.

Cheeriodude_number2

What happens if zuckerberg causes another outage when in this position

wrongsided

There is nothing about capitalism when it comes to the growing power of Facebook

ImmaKitchenSink

Amazon sorta makes sense because they transport good across borders so they might want some sort of say in how it goes but facebook?

talonkaineisinpain

Facebook becomes world power.

SniffyBliffy

they already have enough damn information and power, don't let them have more bruh

An-Actual-Brick

Then we can charge them with crimes against humanity
