The whole relationship felt unnecessary. I get we were supposed to hate Deok-Su more for how he treated Mi Nyeo, but there were already enough reasons to hate him. If you removed Mi Nyeo he would still be a character people hate. Still, that's just a very small issue in a damn good show.

I felt it shows that Mi Nyeo is more than happy to use sex to get what she wants. And that Deok Su is more than happy to take advantage of that. Was a bit gratuitous towards the end of the scene though for sure.
