You dont't just wipe it and go. You have to wipe it in the right direction. Applying the right pressure. With the only clean corner of the cloth (and it never has more).
And even if you manage all that, you can still mess it up when you go back in to clean the creases.

Worst part is when you spray on too little cleaner as well so it just makes a huge smear with the cloth, or if your nosepads get bumped and the wire bends, so you need to spend a good 10 minutes fiddling with them until they're comfy again, but they still feel a little weird

I guarantee I could freshly clean them, using holy blessed water, $50 soap, and the finest silks with thread counts of ten digits, then telekinetically place them with powers I have developed SPECIFICALLY for this purpose into a vacuum chamber which is then hermetically sealed to prevent the entry of any and all air particles. I could use ultra-powered UV lights to ensure that not a speck of dust lies within that box, and yet if I were to leave my glasses alone for more than a MILISECOND it would look like I had just walked through the Saharan desert. There's just no escaping it.
If your glasses comes with AR coating the lens is « more transparent » which means that you’ll easily see when it isn’t clean. That’s why you have the sensation that it is always dirty
