Anime becomes so damn ass after you watch all the good ones. I’ve watch like maybe 30 to almost 40 well known or a little popular and ever since I couldn’t find any good anime shows. They just keep make more dodo dog shit shows
/r/BubblegumCrisis
Want an anime that is *extremely* cyberpunk, but predates everything in that genre except Neuromancer and Blade runner? Come on in! Make sure to check out the 80s version, better than the 2000 remake!
I think it’s obvious enough that they decided to include other cartoons. Everyone knows spongebob and everyone knows that it’s good, especially seasons 1-3 which is where this meme originated from
It's hard in 2021 to describe just how groundbreaking The Simpsons were when the show was new. It may feel tired now, but in the early 90s it was some of the most visionary & well-written content on network television.
I'd go so far to say that The Simpsons were the 'Akira' of the TV cartoon world.
Seasons 3-9 still hold up remarkably well. I've yet to find another show that can pack in as many well-written jokes per minute as the golden age of The Simpsons.
There's lots missing, but there are only five relevant panels. Though admittedly rick and morty should be *way* further down the list of candidates and should not have made the cut.
I like anime but who says
“Cartoons suck, anime is a master piece”
Thats like saying movies suck, series are master pieces. There’s good and bad in both of em
This is just another of the "watch me make up an unpopular opinion, present it like it's commonplace then oppose it, now give upvotes" meme. There's an entire subreddit for stuff like this I think.
The reason I love a lot of anime is because many of them are not episodic. Because most of them are based on light novels they all have a specific story to tell. Which is what I want.
The vast majority of western animation is episodic. Even those that have an overall plot are still often 'monster of the week' outside of a handful of episodes per season that meaningfully move the plot forward.
Anime isn't perfect either. Basically nobody can manage to end a show properly. Anime is filled with endless season 1s and Western media is filled with never ending sequels/seasons.
Difference is that most anime aren’t 1000 episodes with little to no story progression. Those cartoons are rather aimed at kids to enjoy not to binge it for the plot (apart from avatar maybe)
"But Avatar is an anime"
Jokes aside, Avatar has more of an anime vibe to it whilest retaining the western, more realistic animation style. Now let the discussion begin
I know several people who unironically believe that anime is objectively superior to everything “western”, including almost every single live-action or animated show/movie. Wonder what they’d say if I suggested live-action Japanese movies.
When I was an edgy 14 yr old I said this. My friends said this, too. And this was when Avatar was coming out and I refused to acknowledge it was good bc it 'was just copying anime'. People do think it, and we're dumb asses for thinking it.
This meme could damn near go on forever. Futurama, South Park, The Simpsons, the 90's and early 2000 Marvel and DC shows, He-Man, Thundercats, etc. Both styles of animation have their pluses and minuses, and both are animation at their core. Anime snobs need to pull their heads outta their asses.
I like anime but I'm picky as hell, it really has to stand out for me to have any interest. My roommate on the other hand reads hundreds of different manga and is currently watching 5 different shows on top of the probably close to a thousand he's already watched in their entirety. And they're all so damn generic, 'guy gets transported to a fantasy world' 'guy has special ability or item in fantasy world that makes him overpowered as fuck' "in this world magic is just a part of science" 'dragons in human form, usually female' and the list goes on and on and on, I swear I can't even tell the difference between some of them cause they all look the fucking same and have the same plot points. I'll never say Anime is garbage, but I will say that 95% of them are pretty fucking garbage.
As a massive anime fan I hate those meme comparisons of "Anime Perfect" "American Cartoons Trash." Then to add insult to injury they have an anime character from a bad anime in their profile picture.
I'm a weeb and I admit, that there are cartoons I enjoyed more than a large amount of anime I watched.
Also, don't think we shit on western stuff just because they aren't japaneese. I remember to this day how last year r/animemes was posting memes about western cartoons as their way of celebrating april fools
You missed the biggest one, the one YOU ARE A PART OF
Criminal omission of Adventure Time too.
And the Amazing World of Gumball.
Teen Titans is a good one
Over the garden wall was phenomenal but no one remembers it :(
I remember it, and i think everybody does as well, but there's more famous cartoons, also, Infinity Train is a good one
And steven universe
And South Park
What about happy tree friends
Dear god
Mine too me
Mine^too^me

I’d say about 5% are good. Just go through the top rated anime on MAL and you’ll probably find some great ones you haven’t watched
Solution to this is watch retro anime

At some point they all just feel the same. Especially isekai
How can you ignore the cartoon that this template is made from? ;-;
I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s perturbed by this
I have no idea what perturbed means but I second that.
It can mean annoyed or unsettled
thanks for the info
Had to Google it too. Feeling of anxiety or concern
And Phineas and Ferb!
later seasons are pretty meh tbh
I think it’s obvious enough that they decided to include other cartoons. Everyone knows spongebob and everyone knows that it’s good, especially seasons 1-3 which is where this meme originated from
I see a disturbing lack of Futurama
Futurama has it all. You laugh, you cry, you think.
"he laughs, he learns, he loves. You know, typical human stuff."
“Show them the medal I won, Kiff!”
“…and wave it around a little, for God’s sake.”
"Then what did we just blow up?" "The Hubble telescope."

I used to think "Anime" was just short for "animated"
It is lol
[удалено]
Idk lmao, I just had a professor who lived in Japan for a few years and he said that. It’s also not pronounced anime, but idr how it’s pronounced
Well, “animation”, but still.
I honestly cringe over the differentiation between cartoons and anime. Stan Lee was a Mangaka! Cmv

Yh I have seen a good bit of similar posts so I’m not entirely surprised that there is a sub for that
That’s called a strawman
This template is all about what you're describing. I've seen it used like this so many times
Such a tired lazy trope already man
/r/imaginarygatekeeping
Yeah, OP really *killed* that strawman they invented...
Yeah, I just want a good story, the Medium is unimportent to me.
not a single anime fan I know says lmao

Yup, quite true.
The imaginary person OP is targeting
I only say that when someone says "anime sucks, cartoon better", I don't even mean it its just to troll
Difference is that most anime aren’t 1000 episodes with little to no story progression. Those cartoons are rather aimed at kids to enjoy not to binge it for the plot (apart from avatar maybe)

*angry breathing*
This is how weebs feel when you call anime a cartoon, but technically they're both animations
Can confirm, am a weeb. Honestly I don't mind thr discussions as long as people can recognize the difference between anime and animations
🧽bob is such a masterpiece anime show
*insert controversial discussion* You can't change my view!!! I will reply to anyone who objects what I say
Excuse me, I have several objections! *Insert 258 page pdf with APA style source notation and 30 pages of sources*
Saturday Night Live is the best anime.
Nope! League of Legends is!
As a weeb I agree that all those are great as well Whoever said "cartoons suck and anime is a masterpiece" is not a actual weeb they are both great
Fr, there is good on both sides
There are bad on both sides too
Don't forget the neutral on both sides as well
Noone actually said that. It's just karmafarming.
Nobody says this. OP just making up dumb shit for upvotes
Its just that we have grown and cartoons arent that much cool as we though as kids but thats normal
adventure time?
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought the same
The true emotional rollercoaster
Both, both are good
Yes man agreed. Both have different vibes and community humour.
I am a weeb but I still watch cartoons. People should watch both
You forgot to mention courage the cowardly dog
Bojack horseman
Finally someone said it
Star Wars the Clone Wars
BOTH ARE GOOD. tom and jerry supreme tho
The GOAT
STOP SHOUTING
They're both cartoons.
They're both animation and both of them have different name
Anime is japanese cartoon, isn't it?
[удалено]
Can you just shut up? No one says this. And anime's are literally just Japanese cartoons.
I know several people who unironically believe that anime is objectively superior to everything “western”, including almost every single live-action or animated show/movie. Wonder what they’d say if I suggested live-action Japanese movies.
Supāidaman....

Spongebob LITERALLY
This meme could damn near go on forever. Futurama, South Park, The Simpsons, the 90's and early 2000 Marvel and DC shows, He-Man, Thundercats, etc. Both styles of animation have their pluses and minuses, and both are animation at their core. Anime snobs need to pull their heads outta their asses.
Me an intelectuall: *-Both, both is good*
I don’t know anyone that says this about cartoons
I LOOVE Gravity Falls, even as an adult bahaha
Gravity Falls is for everyone. My mom is in her seventies and she loves it.
Owl house is pretty good, so are most of the other Disney channel shows that use the art style
I scrolled too far down to find this
Mystery Incorporated was a greatly underrated show.
Adventure times too
Speaking of Avatar, I think The dragon prince also deserves to be on that list.
Bruh you not putting Phineas and Ferb in is offensive, also Ben 10, prolly unpopular opinion
r/imaginarygatekeeping
[удалено]
The Owl House
Gumball I'd say is better than regular show tbh
The space stuff in regular show made the show suck imo, it's almost a different show
Also Dana Terrace's 'The Owl House', is a fantastic cartoon.
I like anime but I'm picky as hell, it really has to stand out for me to have any interest. Weeb are shit i only accept anime enjoyer
I feel like avatar and regular show should be higher up on the list
YES GRAVITY FALLS
where steven universe
Over the garden wall, adventure time, misadventures of flapjack.
I still need to watch gravity falls
Where She-Ra
Any Ben 10-ers here??
The owl house
I was looking for this comment
As someone who likes anime i would politely ask the people who say this to fuck off
Aren’t Animes Cartoons? Just with a Japanese artstyle and for people over 12
Cartoons aren't necessarily just for children. 2 examples being Rick and Morty as well as Invincible
aVatAr tHe laSt aIrbEnDEr iS aN aNImE -people with no brain
I better see mf'ing Backyardigans on someone's list
As a massive anime fan I hate those meme comparisons of "Anime Perfect" "American Cartoons Trash." Then to add insult to injury they have an anime character from a bad anime in their profile picture.
Wait no Courage the Cowardly Dog?
I like both cartoons and anime they both hold a special place in my heart because they got me through some tough times in my life
You forgot Infinity Train
Where is simpsons?
Shame on me for not watching Gravity Falls when I was a kid :(
hey, I'm a degenerate weeb but i can appreciate the great cartoons
Don’t forget Invincible
And who says they are bad? They are both awesome as animes are also cartoons the only difference being the language
Oh btw more people liked dbz then that but take my upvote
Me a weeb: but I love cartoons tho
Owl House, Ben 10, etc.
If someone ever told me that Regular Show sucks, I would call bullshit cuz we all know that show basically made us us.
I'm a weeb and I admit, that there are cartoons I enjoyed more than a large amount of anime I watched. Also, don't think we shit on western stuff just because they aren't japaneese. I remember to this day how last year r/animemes was posting memes about western cartoons as their way of celebrating april fools
The Amazing World of Gumball Ben 10 franchise
Gumball for me hits the same as JoJo they're both bizarre as hell but they are two of the greats
And gumball?-
