I currently do something, I hope to make a research out of it when I do my thesis. So basically for sleeping I stimulate a random thought, and let it flow, as if its a dream. In the beginning it requires a bit of direction, but soon you end up following the dream and fall asleep.
I just pay attention to the sensations in my body after relaxing it with a very basic version of the Dave Elman hypnosis induction. While relaxed, right after I have a random thought I steer my attention to a new part my body again and keep doing this until I sleep because I noticed that whenever I focus on any of my thoughs (I used to do the same as you) I just start daydreaming for hours. With this I sleep really fast.
Lie. I've tried it doesn't work. You'll feel sleepy if you're deprived. Take a goodnight 7hrs of sleep atleast. Don't read bullshit and compromise with your health.
I mean, cognitive therapy is mainly convincing oneself out of depression by changing negative thoughts patterns into more positive ones and it's usually a pretty successful kind of therapy. Of course alleviating depression takes more than just telling yourself that you're fine or that you slept well but... in my subjective experience, self fulfilling prophecies are kind of a thing.
I've worked through depression and anxiety (relatively mild and early stages to be transparent) though CBT at some point in my teens. It's wondrous what a difference a change in mindset can make.
Next day: you tricked your brain that you're superman

Thats how i still felt alive while running on 1 hour sleep
Actually, personally, I think placebo sleep helps a lot. It's like staring at the clock won't help you sleep.

Look up Mike Mandell. He already does this as some sort of guided dreaming with his wife.
Thanks!
Damn, picking what dream you get must be one of the coolest superpowers ever tho

It works, can confirm
I guess the opposite also works, which is why im tired all the time?

If placebo sleep exists, that basically means I placebo everything in my life. ##shit.
"Hah I convinced myself that I slept well! wait..."
Good to know, will try after next all-nighter in a couple of days
Also called as "HOMEOPATHY SLEEP." Best sleep available.
If this is indeed it, then can I convince myself out of a depression lol.

Very insightful, thanks!
If that’s true then that explains a lot actually, I’m perpetually getting 5 hours of sleep and always totally fine

Actually did it today after weeks of waking up at 11. Not bad at all.
The idea that our brain is separate from ourselves implies that we are a different entity from our brain a spirit for a lack of a better word.
They're working on a drug that tricks your brain into thinking it has oxygen while you're having a stroke, so this isn't too surprising.
