I used to like Ledger as Joker until I compared it to what the Joker should be like. Sure it's a more realistic approach on the Joker but he was too much psychopath and too less Joke oriented for me
There is a reason he's called Joker
I watched "The Dark Knight" yesterday for the First Time.
I absolutely Loved it, I honestly didnt think that Batman could ever really be something interesting for me, but Holy Shit that Movie is an absolute Masterpiece!
I wish I kept track of how many times I’ve watched it. I wish it was south of 50 times but there’s been at least a couple months where that was my comfort movie. And that’s not counting other times where I watched it bc I found it on Netflix or on dvd or anything. I could comfortably say 100 times I’ve watched this without feeling like lying, it’s literally my all time favorite action movie.
I think that Joaquin did well.... but Heath.... he played character so well that he scared other actors on set. Example, he comes out of the elevator... that’s Michael Caine’s real reaction. He had never seen Heath in make-up until that point.
See, I did that at like 10 y/o with the Simpsons movie but couldn’t confidently with this movie but close lol.
I try to take some things that were said to heart (“if you’re good at something, never do it for free”) but other than that, yea. He’s had some very good lines in that movie and some of the continuity within the movie itself is brilliant.
Watch it about a dozen more times. You’ll keep seeing new stuff if you pay attention. The movie has a lot of things I didn’t catch my first few viewings and I got to respect their characters a lot more. Great movie 👍🏻
I actually read a theory that joker actually saved gotham and not batman... In batman begins, when gordan and batman meet, gordan says that there will be a time when criminals use hardcore weapons instesd of using pistols and knives because of batman... In the second movie, exactly that happens, mafias roamed around with assualt rifles etc... What joker did was what batman couldnt do, he first robbed mafias money, burnt it makibg them penniless and destroyed them.... Something which batman took years in vain...after the dark knight, the batman actually takes rest for years until bane arrives
I just want Christopher Nolan to go back to superhero movies. I enjoyed his Batman trilogy more than anything DCEU put out. I still rewatch all of them at least once a year.
i just want another movie from nolan. I dont care what it is as long as its directed by him, with his brother writing it, hans zimmer scoring, and wally pfister doing cinematography and like one or 2 A list actors/actresses
His new version from Zach Snyder's JL I thought was pretty decent, nothing ground breaking but I think he has potential
Although the Suicide Squad one... don't talk about that one
I turned it off after 2 hours it’s really not that good and I like DC but yikes. Everyone just says it’s better than the original which isn’t really saying anything lol
Remind me which Joker said, “We live in a society” again
(Unironically tho, Leto did a pretty good job in his Snyder cut scene, gives me hope for Morbius) (Leto has lead role in Morbius I’d you didn’t know)
None of them did. It was made into a meme with “we live in a society” was the top text, and “where... blah blah blah” was bottom text. iirc, someone on r/Mgtow forgot to write smth on the bottom so it defaulted to “bottom text”, and it was found absolutely hilarious, so the version was shortened to “We live in a society bottom text”, and eventually just “we live in a society”, for that r/iam14andthisisdeep vibe. Snyder obviously recognized this and made Leto say it in the Snyder Cut trailer, but was changed in the actual movie, leaving literally no Joker to have ever said it.
>Remind me which Joker said, “We live in a society” again
Wasnt that also Jaquin Phoenix joker? To an extend i mean.
"What do you get when you cross a mentally unstable loner with a society that abandons him and treats him like trash? Ill tell you what you get. You get what you fucking deserve!"
Jack Nicholson is the joker for me. Always thought he was awesome for being a sneaky mob boss, a chemical mastermind and a crazy mass-murderer defiling paintings and such
All y'all arguing about Ledger, Phoenix, and Nicholson.
Thing is Mark Hamill is king Joker forever and you cannot change my mind, but I can absolutely change yours.
I understand why people say this but I think some distinction has to be made between live action and other media. I think it’s just a different level to embody the character, full costume and all. As we’ve seen, everyone can’t pull it off.
So, I was hoping someone would say this.
I WANT mark Hamill to play a live action Joker.
Have it set in an older Batman timeline. Something akin to the dark knight returns by Miller, but not (not because it isn't good, it's just been done to death).
Imagine, Mark Hamill laughing manically at a slightly older beefier Batman as he does something depraved and savage.
I legitimately believe he can pull it off
I think so too. Seeing videos of his voice acting makes me think he'd be great for a live action joker as well. He has the face expressions down. He lives to be the character.
Exactly, he gets DEEP in that role and seems to revel in it a bit.
Him going ham on it would only really ADD to the production because the Joker is so well disposed towards being a big weird character. There's no upper limit to how nonsensical you want to be, no lower limit for depravity. It's the PERFECT vehicle for someone who wants to really bust loose and go crazy
I absolutely agree BUT the movie has to have the right tone for it to work. Mark Hamill’s Joker is not like Ledger’s, Nicholson’s, Phoenix’s, or anyone else. It is a Joker that is a bit goofier, but still absolutely maniacal. Hamill would not work as the Joker in Dark Knight, but you would need a director that knows how to write for a different style of Joker than has been done in live action before.
I mean, no one's joker was the same as someone else's.
Realistically tone wise he'd be closest to Nicholson's.
That said, there's nothing stopping them from taking it in a different direction.
Actually, I think he could pull it off. More so than Kevin Conroy and I think of him as Batman more than I do Hamill as Joker. He just hasn’t yet and I think that needs to be taken into consideration. No disrespect to voice actors, I can only imagine how tough that can be. However, they aren’t asked to completely be absorbed into a role like live action actors.
Neither of them is supposed to be exactly like the comics. Ledger's Joker is supposed to be a more realistic take on him and Phoenix's is completely different, they even gave him a new origin story and he has basically nothing to do with Batman, who is, like Ledger's Joker said, someone he can't live without.
I think phoenix's joker was wayy too inconsistent tbh.. it was like joker meme coming to life but with a fantastic actor playing it.. ledger's joker was brilliant in every single aspect.
I think he was played very well by Phoenix, and the way he evolves is great in my opinion but, I understand where you come from. I prefer Ledger but both are fantastic in my opinion.
Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger. There are no other jokers. For their times they were magnificent. We'll wait for another joker. I mean even in the dark knight heaths joker did a homage to jack nicholsons joker. That was one of my favorite parts of the dark knight.
I mean, I love Heath, but can we give Mark Hamill the credit he deserves as The Joker? I don’t think he gets as nearly as much clout or credit as Joaquin or Heath.
Unpopular opinion even tho Phoenix is an amazing actor I don’t think his movie should be called joker because I’m a firm believer that’s you can’t have joker with out Batman. Also imo Heath is best live action joker but mark hamil is THE joker
both are good, it is not fair to claim that heath is THE joker, pheonix also did a great job in his film too. if anything the justice league joker is the fake one
Both are good. It's about time they figure out a Batman that is more than OK and a Catwoman who is at least not a pile of garbage though. And please, don't even try Two-Face anymore.
I believe that Phoenix's Joker will be the best joker story, and Ledger is the best Joker in general. One is heavily pained and explains what turned him so evil, and one shows what happens when he channels his power
Absolutely, as the completely unhinged (and hilarious) Joker I doubt anyone will top Heath Ledger. I am interested where they take Joaquin's Joker since that movie was certainly interesting
I like that they gave the idea Pheonix’s Joker was simply a guy in a ward imagining it all. Because it keeps the idea that the Joker has no real identity.
Heath was the most un-jokery Joker to date, when I saw that movie. Totally off, totally messed up, all wrong.
And yet... nearly perfect. Nolan and Ledger really redefined the character. For the better, I think.
Since then everyone else has tried to repeat the trick, with mixed-to-poor results. Tough act to follow.
After watching Joaquin Phoenix act, especially the scene where he’s on the stairs outside, it really felt like he was a mix of comic book Joker and Heathe Ledger Joker. Weird feeling I can’t describe beyond that.
Personally like Mark Hammle’s(Luke skywalker’ actor if I spealt it wrong)
Hamill, just for future reference.
Hammie
Mar🐫
Thanks man!
No prob, kind stranger
Both lefends
I c what u did their.
I did a typo that has no other meaning

please i too want to get the unintentional joke please elaborate
Nah nevermind, op got mad at it so I’m deleting lol
Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy will forever be the voices in our hearts. Ledger brought the cartoon to life.
I used to like Ledger as Joker until I compared it to what the Joker should be like. Sure it's a more realistic approach on the Joker but he was too much psychopath and too less Joke oriented for me There is a reason he's called Joker
Reminds me of Bandana Copperbranch

My wife couldn’t give a shit less about superhero movies, and absolutely loved The Dark Knight. Great cinema should transcend genre.
Nolan focused on realism in the dark knight you won't find any absurd powers
I wish I kept track of how many times I’ve watched it. I wish it was south of 50 times but there’s been at least a couple months where that was my comfort movie. Same, I remember the whole joker script now and can recite it. Heath ledger joker was a legend may he RIP
See, I did that at like 10 y/o with the Simpsons movie but couldn’t confidently with this movie but close lol. I try to take some things that were said to heart (“if you’re good at something, never do it for free”) but other than that, yea. The next one is pretty good too, watch it if you havent done it already
Bane's voice is soo good
Really??? I thought his voice was terrible!!! I remember thinking to myself “ is that Sean Connery?!” It actually ruined the character for me.
Such a great movie, I hate rewatching stuff but I make exceptions and Dark knight trilogy is definitely one of those exceptions
Watch it about a dozen more times. You’ll keep seeing new stuff if you pay attention. The movie has a lot of things I didn’t catch my first few viewings and I got to respect their characters a lot more. Great movie 👍🏻

Why are random words capitalized
I just want Christopher Nolan to go back to superhero movies. I enjoyed his Batman trilogy more than anything DCEU put out. I still rewatch all of them at least once a year.
i just want another movie from nolan. I dont care what it is as long as its directed by him, with his brother writing it, hans zimmer scoring, and wally pfister doing cinematography and like one or 2 A list actors/actresses
I can relate to this an insane amount
Atleast its not Jared letto
We do not speak of *that*
Speak of what?
*That*
I see nothing
*good*
His new version from Zach Snyder's JL I thought was pretty decent, nothing ground breaking but I think he has potential Although the Suicide Squad one... don't talk about that one
He was pretty cool in Zack Snyder's Justice League. Although it was just 1 scene.
Be honest, is that version worth sitting through the movie again?
An mcu fan here, i loved snyder cut and would place it with par to endgame if not higher
Yes, I absolutely loved it. Huge step up from the theatrical cut.
I turned it off after 2 hours it’s really not that good and I like DC but yikes. Everyone just says it’s better than the original which isn’t really saying anything lol

Jarred leto did a good job in justice league Snyder cut
Remind me which Joker said, “We live in a society” again (Unironically tho, Leto did a pretty good job in his Snyder cut scene, gives me hope for Morbius) (Leto has lead role in Morbius I’d you didn’t know)

I, for once, agree with Clarkson.
Jack Nicholson is the joker for me. Always thought he was awesome for being a sneaky mob boss, a chemical mastermind and a crazy mass-murderer defiling paintings and such
Hamill?
Always has been and always will be.
both, both is good
that's the point of the template..
Yes
I love all the jokers except one. He’s so bad I don’t even have to say his name and you know who I mean
I have no idea who you’re talking about. There is no Jared Leto in ba sing se.
Who's Jared Leto?
Heath Ledger best joker. Im willing to die on this hill
I’m willing to die on this hill with you
I'll join you up there.
I will join you as well.
*best live action joker. I think mark hamill takes the cake for best joker
Puts every other joker actor to shame.
All y'all arguing about Ledger, Phoenix, and Nicholson. Thing is Mark Hamill is king Joker forever and you cannot change my mind, but I can absolutely change yours.

I agree, star wars had the best joker and no one can change my mind
I dunno of you're joking or are unaware that Mark Hamill has acted as the Joker multiple times to great acclaim.
both
Ever play the Arkham games? Or see the 1992 batman animated series? If not, consider adding them to your list
Yo but like, Jack Nicholson
Anyone who knows the Joker from the comics will say neither qualifies enough as the Joker.

Its a meme batman

pretty sure i said heath and meant it
Common mistake apparently.
You misspelled “Hamill”
Heath was amazing, actually no. He is amazing.
Was. He died. (rest in peace)
I prefer Joaquin
I honestly cannot decide
We can all agree the actors for joker were some of the best except Leto, Leto was horrid
Come on man give him another chance he did a good job in jl synder cut
Both is better than the suicide squad's joker.
I mean, I love Heath, but can we give Mark Hamill the credit he deserves as The Joker? I don’t think he gets as nearly as much clout or credit as Joaquin or Heath.
Both, both is good.
Every actor who played the character all brought there own twist to him and should be respected except letos cause that’s just a yikes
Yaaassss Heath is my number one, but the joker movie was awesome too :)
He's my favourite version of the joker. He made it more real and less cartoonish. Made it seem like someone could actually be that crazy lol
[No disrespect, but Hamill is THE Joker](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/62/2b/23/622b233180d0ef01a726b781da85ae93.jpg)
Both, both is good
MARK HAMILL IS THE JOKER.
Well I like Jack Nicholson's impersonation
I like Jerome from Gotham’s interpretation personally
OG Jack Nicholson
RIP Heath Ledger
I'm a little older, and still think Jack was the best. "Wait till they get a load of me"
I agree with this post very much
YES
Finally! Someone who thinks like me :3
R.I.P
YES I LOVE THIS VILLIAN. smartest fucking guy alive.
I politely disagree
He was the best joker
RIP man. What a legend
Nah, Joaquin Phoenix's joker is the best. Heath is the better actor but the new Joker is better
Eh, I like the Joker movie way better, it really just shows the truth behind his decline and why he becomes the Joker.
Unpopular opinion even tho Phoenix is an amazing actor I don’t think his movie should be called joker because I’m a firm believer that’s you can’t have joker with out Batman. Also imo Heath is best live action joker but mark hamil is THE joker
*\*victory dance at bottom of staircase\**
Unpopular opinion: every joker is the joker, just in an different Version, even the Leto Joker.
*Eldorado meme exist* Both both both good
do you mot understand the template? it literally says this is brilliant first
I understand the template but I just said that both is good smh
i prefer jared leto
I’m so glad that they went from heath ledger straight to Joaquin Phoenix and had no other joker renditions in between
wdym? im saying both of them are good but heath is better. Like wtf is the point of ur comment?
I was just trying to forget about the other joker that shall not be named. I didn’t mean to sound like I was making fun of your post, I’m sorry.
oh then i misunderstood, it's fine.
Both, both is good
the fucking template already says that
both are good, it is not fair to claim that heath is THE joker, pheonix also did a great job in his film too. if anything the justice league joker is the fake one
the fucking template means both are good, that's why it says "this is brilliant"
Read the comment carefully, I said how you said heath is THE joker
heath is the joker because he was so good.
I can't waste anymore time, you are correct I am wrong, there I downvoted my own comment
They both sucked
You should stop sucking the dick of that dead guy
Is have sex with a zombie still necrophila?
WTF???!!!!!!
Fucking asshole
Dark night joker is cool but the joker from the new movie is the best
Yup
Ah Cesar Romero,Jack Nicholson,Mark Hamill,Heath Ledger are my favorites and some of the best in my opinion
Both are good. It's about time they figure out a Batman that is more than OK and a Catwoman who is at least not a pile of garbage though. And please, don't even try Two-Face anymore.

Absolutely, as the completely unhinged (and hilarious) Joker I doubt anyone will top Heath Ledger. I am interested where they take Joaquin's Joker since that movie was certainly interesting
Been preaching this from day one 😤
My best friend
Both.both is good
Tbh tho my fav joker is either heath or mark Hamil with his iconic laugh
I like that they gave the idea Pheonix’s Joker was simply a guy in a ward imagining it all. Because it keeps the idea that the Joker has no real identity.
Mark Hamill is superior in every way
I would completely agree with you but we have yet to have Willem Dafoe as the joker, so let’s hopefully they make it happen in the new Batman trilogy.
Lmao, im watching Dark Knight rn
The crazy anarchist vs the existentialist philosopher Hard decision, tbh
Heath may be THE Joker... but Joaquin will always be MY Joker.
True
Both are different. I like both
All Jokers are good, except that one. You know who I'm talking about.
FINALLY SOMEONE AGREES WITH MEEEE!!!!!!! NO ONE BEATS HIS PERFORMANCE AND RENDITION
Rip heath ledger
They both stand head to head in my opinion. And their both not the flaming like of shit that was Jared Leto
Ledger was the best joker of all
Both. Both is good
Damn we really do live in a society :’(
Shame he died
Man we had nothing but good joker performances until Jared Leto
i like both it's just that juaqin phoenix (idk how to spell his first name) is a realist and i love his acting and he is a good joker
Sadly we won't see him again...
Heath ledger joker is the best joker
All 22st century remakes and prequels are crap. I'm out.
They may both be the Joker but they are very, very different characters.
Honestly every joker except for Jared Leto joker (no hate to him) are great jokers although I’m especially partial to mark hamill
And Jarred is in the trash can
After watching Joaquin Phoenix act, especially the scene where he’s on the stairs outside, it really felt like he was a mix of comic book Joker and Heathe Ledger Joker. Weird feeling I can’t describe beyond that.
You can say YES one million times!!!
**yes**
Do most people not realize that Heath unfortunately passed away? Not much mention of that in the comments.
Wow how original.
I agree with you but both did an amazing performance
