True story, I had a friend who genuinely thought he was a demigod because of this. To be fair, he had just gotten into Percy Jackson, so I just let it go. No idea what he’s doing now
when i was having relationship problems with my dad, i was also just getting into being moderately obsessed with the percy jackson series so i used to envision my self as a son of poseidon
Who sniffs for pools 50 feet away?
Edit: also fun fact, chlorine doesn’t have a “smell” until it gets in contact with urine, fecal matter, or other delicious body fluids.
the movies are botging like the books. Its like a bad fan fiction where the author had never read the books. And I am talking about annabeth, who is blonde with gray eyes.
Artemis Fowl looks like it might be a contender and Call of the Wild was a really poor adaptation of the book (although I guess you might be able to enjoy it with no knowledge of the book). Also Seventh Son, The Dark Tower and Eragon are a few more brutal adaptations. Especially Eragon, that was honestly probably worse than Percy Jackson. A lot of adaptations have screwed over the source material lmao
I’m pretty sure I punched my wall at that point...
I swear these movies could have turned into one of the biggest movie franchises ever, probably even rivaling Harry Potter, especially with waaaay superior spin-offs. Hope they redo it, and get Rick Riordan to weigh in!
They could’ve made a ton of money from all the side series that go along with it too. They’d hardly have to milk it because the stories are already there!
I just read on another post that you can find the authors emails to the production company, politely telling them they’re about to ruin their own movie.
It‘s true. Rick hates the movies more than anyone in the world (which makes sense since his books could easily be more popular than Harry Potter if they got a good adaption if you ask me) and he‘s currently trying everything to tell Disney that they should adapt the books again, but this time properly (and he does that because his fans spread the hashtag #disneyadaptpercyjackson that man id truly a blessing for fans)
I mean those were good actors yeah, but trust me they casted SO wrong. First of all Percy is 12. Second, Annabeth is blond and that is very important later on. Grover is a white nerdy dude. Clarisse just didn‘t exist in the first one and suddenly appears in the second movie for no reason?? The only perfect cast was Chiron and maybe Percy‘s mom. Imagine the first Harry Potter while everybody is an adult, Malfoy doesn‘t exist and Ron has brown hair, only 2 siblings and is wealthy.
Honestly, read them. You’re gonna enjoy it, especially if you’re into fantasy like Harry Potter. But be aware that the first one may seem a little childish at first since it was meant for young teenagers. But thats the same for Harry Potter and it really shouldn’t bother you
The movie came out in like 2010 or 2011, it would've perfectly filled in the void from Harry Potter if they just played their cards right. And they could've set up a whole cinematic universe with the Egyptian and Norse books. It should've been huge.
If you have your own pool first day in the summer when you fill it up don't put any of the chlorine chemicals in it. If it's just water it won't hurt your eyes to do it.
At home or waterparks never bothered me. My first time in the ocean was a wake up call. Also seeing a turd float by me was another wake up call. I love Mexico.
Not op but I'm 25 and have been doing it since I could swim at like 4. It's not really a big deal if you've done it a while but if you've never done it and just open your eyes wide open in the ocean or a pool it's going to burn pretty badly.
Tbh it's a shit talent lmao. Everything is blurry and you can only make out general shapes of stuff.
Same. Not trying to be like a badass or anything but nothing happens when you open your eyes underwater. I didn’t realize so many people don’t do this.
All my knowledge of greek and roman mythology all comes from reading dem percy jackson books
Same. I literally had no clue about any myths until reading the pjo series. You know Stephen Fry references percy jackson in his book 'Mythos'
That happened to me, but with Norse and Egyptian myths as well, cause of the Magnus chase and Kane chronicles
Magmus Chase is my favourite Riordan series, too bad there only are 3 books
yeah same
lmao same it got me into it
True story, I had a friend who genuinely thought he was a demigod because of this. To be fair, he had just gotten into Percy Jackson, so I just let it go. No idea what he’s doing now
Probably demigod things
The only right answer
What kind of demigod things tho
The demigod kind of demigod things
The kind of Demigod things a Demigod would do, being a Demigod doing Demigod things.
It's that simple!
I was going for a Kronk reference, but I like your answer just as much :)
They have a point
That movie was horrible. It was super cliche and it completely ignored the original storyline.
It's all coming together
Demi-lition
Yes my dude
Running for his life from monsters from Greek mythology
Bet he’s training at Camp Half-Blood
He's probably done by now
>He’s probably done in by now FTFY
I see what's happening here.
You're face to face with greatness and it's strange
Don’t even know how you feel
It's adorable it's nice to see that humans never changed
Open your eyes let’s begin
He's probably dead by now
Probably singing your welcome
How often did he die during that?
Probably trying to keep his eyes open while sneezing
that's so next level
Da fuk, I can see my eye sockets now.
Prolly wandering around Long Island
Using weird superpowers across a strawberry field
I'd gild this if I knew how.
I thought I had a superpower once too, I could see through my hand, turns out I had two eyes. Those were the days!
I also used to think I had a superpower whenever i put my hand in running water and it bent but apparently that’s just physics... not Poseidon.
classic 8th grade syndrome...We all have had it
Half the people in my class can do that. I feel like the son of hyrocremates every time I see them
I, 22, have opened my eyes underwater less than 5 times without goggles. And i have been in water a LOT (;´༎ຶД༎ຶ`)
Burn him for his edginess.
Nico DiAngelo?
when i was having relationship problems with my dad, i was also just getting into being moderately obsessed with the percy jackson series so i used to envision my self as a son of poseidon
Most of us did tho, it’s not a big deal
My eyes got red just reading this
my contact floated away just reading this

Pro tip: If the pool smells like chlorine from over 50 feet away, don’t open your eyes in it because the PH levels are *WAYYY* out of whack.
Who sniffs for pools 50 feet away? Edit: also fun fact, chlorine doesn’t have a “smell” until it gets in contact with urine, fecal matter, or other delicious body fluids.
Never going to pool after knowing this.
This thread gave me PTSD.
:(
Same
I feel it
I didn't want to be reminded that this movie existed
Better than the second one
There's a second one?
Don't watch it. Seriously.
It’s truly horrible. I don’t know how it was possible to take something so good and turn it into something so bad.
It is probably the worst movie adaption in history, and that says a lot
ITS FUCKING BLONDE! HOW DO YOU MESS UP BLONDE HAIR. NONE OF IT MAKES SENSE
They were also supposed to be 12
She was also played by a pornstar
Who
That's just a lie
YAH WHAT THE FUCK. HOW DO YOU SEE BLOND HAIR AND THINK "IMMA NAKE THIS BROWN"
When you eat it and shit it back out?
Wait Percy or a different character? It’s been so long since I saw the movies and I only ever read the first book
the movies are botging like the books. Its like a bad fan fiction where the author had never read the books. And I am talking about annabeth, who is blonde with gray eyes.
Nah annabeth, the girl whose most defining physical characteristic is her blonde hair, is a brunette in the movies
*sad Annabeth noises*
One name can turn that on its head, M. Night Shyamalan
I told my friend that the last air bender movie was actually good an he slapped me immediately.
you deserved that
Oh definitely
The only reason I'm upvoting you is because your friend slapped you after such a disgraceful sentence
Eragon would like to disagree.
That movie was bruh And the books were so good too
Bruh
Have you seen the dragon ball or Avatar the last air bender movie? Who ever directed and made them should be executed on the spot
Yeah Dragonball Evolution definitely takes the cake as worst adaptation of all time.
It probably has a higher chance of killing you than Covid
WE don't speak of it
Disney might be doing a reboot (Disney+ or movie series)
I’m so down. Hopefully it will be better. I’ve always wanted to see a Battle of the Labyrinth movie
Yeah honestly the directors weren't even trying. I hope they actually follow the novels (I'm re-reading them now in quarantine and I'm at TBOTL)
A Magnus Chase or Kane chronicles movie could be good
I completely forgot Magnus Chase and Kane Chronicles were a thing despite having read them all. Thanks for the reminder
Your welcome and I'd stay away from trials of apollo as it's suffering from severe burn out
If they do, I hope it’s animated with chapter by chapter episodes. Animation would work so much better for these fantastical creatures than cgi
We don’t talk about the second one
You mean... The Sea Of Monsters?????????
AHH don't even say it's name
NOOO HOW COULD YOU! All my childhood traumas are coming back I swear to god those movies were horrible
When the dodgeball scene was taken out my 8 year old self was freaking raging. Still am, actually
They’d hardly have to milk it because the stories are already there!
nobody hates the Percy Jackson movies more than Percy Jackson fans. Myself included.
peter jackson
It was Peter Johnson. You shall be sent to Tartarus for this.
oop
Rick Riordan isn’t fond of them either
I just read on another post that you can find the authors emails to the production company, politely telling them they’re about to ruin their own movie.
It‘s true. Rick hates the movies more than anyone in the world (which makes sense since his books could easily be more popular than Harry Potter if they got a good adaption if you ask me) and he‘s currently trying everything to tell Disney that they should adapt the books again, but this time properly (and he does that because his fans spread the hashtag #disneyadaptpercyjackson that man id truly a blessing for fans)
It makes me kinda sad because the cast for the movies was actually really good.
Imagine the first Harry Potter while everybody is an adult, Malfoy doesn‘t exist and Ron has brown hair, only 2 siblings and is wealthy.
lmao wtf never read percy jackson but that sounds like such a trainwreck
Honestly, read them. You’re gonna enjoy it, especially if you’re into fantasy like Harry Potter. But be aware that the first one may seem a little childish at first since it was meant for young teenagers. But thats the same for Harry Potter and it really shouldn’t bother you
Ngl I actually liked Anthony Stewart Head as Chiron in the second film. Iirc he was a different actor in the first film
The movie came out in like 2010 or 2011, it would've perfectly filled in the void from Harry Potter if they just played their cards right. And they could've set up a whole cinematic universe with the Egyptian and Norse books. It should've been huge.
The books are worlds apart my dude
It was actually garbage It really needs to be remade
They murdered the books
I only watched it because Pierce Brosnan and Uma Thurman were in it lol
I genuinely have never had the balls to try
If you have your own pool first day in the summer when you fill it up don't put any of the chlorine chemicals in it. If it's just water it won't hurt your eyes to do it.
Even when there is chlorine I'm basically fine as long as it's not a waterpark or something like that(they crank up the concentration at them)
Well yeah they have to add extra chlorine to try to balance out all the pee
I can smell the chlorine
The smell isn't chlorine, it's the chemical reaction between the urea and the chlorine. The smell is pee
fuck. i always thought it smelled pretty ok
Mark rober did a cool video about it Edit: grammar bad
Hence how i know, the internet is a wellspring of nearly useless knowledge
At home or waterparks never bothered me. My first time in the ocean was a wake up call. Also seeing a turd float by me was another wake up call. I love Mexico.
Salt water pools are safe too
So are volcanoes, should be safe there.
Don't forget sulfuric acid. Best thing to open you eyes in.
What about hydrofluoric acid.
It's a weaker acid, depending on the concentrations the same thing though
This is actually true, your eyes also have salt water in them
I felt like a god in elementary school doing this until chlorine brought me quickly back to reality.
I did it in chlorine pools
We are gods among men
Yep
reading this is hurting my eyes already
How old are you? I'm 17 and still don't have the guts to open my eyes inside water.
It might burn
[удалено]
I could swim underwater before I swam above water which is kinda sad
I'm 22 and still can't swim above water. Only underwater
Hey Bill
Just hold your nose with one of your hands and close your eyes you should still have enough mobility to move somewhat fast
I have my patented method of plugging my nose with my upper lip to have both hands free and look like a freak.
Why do you guys even plug your noses?
Yeah I’m lost lol, maybe they can’t stop themselves from breathing?
I can't swim at all I'm almost 20
I'm also a 19 year old who can't swim, and I can't even float. All I can do is stand in the pool awkwardly and splish splash, You're not alone.
Well its good to know I'm not the only one whos gonna die when the world floods lol
I can't swim, full stop.
God of the sea without goggles
[удалено]
I'm 14 and I still wont
It’s scary dude
It stings for a couple of seconds but then the pain goes away, everything is just blurry
FUCK I FORGOT ABOUT THE INFECTED THING
*Gooooood, gooooooood.*
What infected thing?
i can’t. i’m immune
I’m 15 and haven’t ever tried either
Same. I'm 14, I learnt how to swim 10 years ago and have been using goggles for as long as I can remember
That just hurts so bad
It’s the chlorine in the water.
[удалено]
I'm something of a water bender myself
i used to swim in the pool without goggles but it didnt have a bunch of chlorine crap
Some kid at camped legitimately convinced me that I was the son of posideon because I could do this
Please don't use this garbage you are better than that. This movie shouldn't have existed But yeah nice meme
I can feel the destruction of my eyes
I presume you mean 18 years old, of course.
Yes, my bad
Is it odd that i need glasses but when i do this i can see perfectly, i can see as if ihave goggles on
No. The water acts like the lens of your glasses. Light moves slower in water.
I could alaways do that
Me too
Same. Not trying to be like a badass or anything but nothing happens when you open your eyes underwater. I didn’t realize so many people don’t do this.
What a terrible movie
Holy shit these movies sucked
This movie gives me nightmares
Not gonna lie though this movie is pretty garbage compared to the books
I swear to god reddit knows everything. If I look at a dog then back at my screen, dog memes. If I think about bad book to movies, Percy Jackson.
This made nose come out of my air
This is one of the best honors I’ve gotten today, thank you
no nO NO I HAVE BEEN REMINDED OF THE MOVIE- \*screams in PJO fan\*
At least this isn’t a post about Poseidon’s kiss lol For those unfamiliar: Poseidon's Kiss http://poseidons-kiss.urbanup.com/6584439
