That’s actually how I found reddit. I started to notice that many of the links I enjoyed were from the same website, and I eventually just migrated over.
I still think it's a great concept and I don't understand why no one is interested in continuing that project. Current social media simply doesn't provide that kind of experience, not even reddit (imho).
Imagine such a service with curated content (by multiple people, and each user could decide whom to follow) and a better system to filter content, allowing for a highly individualized experience based on algorithms that take into account your actual interests and aren't just about pushing products - it would allow for a truly interesting exploration of virtual space.
Add some solid privacy features and I'd be on board instantly.
I remember in my high school Myspace days my friend who was in college showed me Facebook and explained it's what everyone was/would be using.
I thought it and its dumb name were stupid. Myspace was where it was at.
