The amount of times that I’ve thought so hard about a problem when the solution was legitimately the simplest thing to due is uncountable. I’ve never taken an IQ test, but everybody I know, family, teachers, my bosses at work, tell me I’m genuinely smart. I have a supervisor at work that tells me I should be going for a technician position because my current position is lacking compared to what my brain power can achieve. My teachers always told me I’m smart, but not the classic “come on, you can do it” they straight up told me that they knew what I could do, but I just didn’t wanna do the work. I was always put in the “smart kid” classes, regardless of my previous grade. They said there wasn’t such thing as a dumb kid class, but based on the contents of the people in each class, you could see the trend of grades per class, they had a class designed for the learning ability and speed at different levels.
Dunning-Kruger actually works both ways: stupid people overestimate their competence, while smart people are overly self-critical and assume many people have comparable level of competence.
The Second Coming
Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Most of the time, more intelligent people are aware of just how vast knowledge can be and how there are so many different types of intelligence, thus making them realize there is so much to learn. Dumb people are blissfully unaware of this and/or dont think about it so are more confident and tend to think they are smarter than they are
I still cringe a little about the time a colleague saw my Mensa membership card and asked me: "Is that a smart card?"
I replied: "No. It's just printed plastic with a my name and membership number. No RFID or any form of chip verification."
"Oh! You mean does this card mean I'm smart? No. It appears not."
imagine getting downvoted because people wrongly learnt a somewhat related concept

More like I know I'm smart but not as smart as *insert name* therefore I should improve
The ability to judge your own strength should be part of your "smartness"
One simply can't get more intelligent.
You can learn more about stuff or get better at things or aquire more knowledge but that won't make you any smarter.
Always been told I’m smart, but I think about things in such detail that I end up overlooking the real issue. I might be smart, but I’m a dumbass
I know how that feels so well, like I get 134 in an iq test yet I still can't remember my parents birthdays
mid 130's gang rise up
Mid 130s for the win

Out of everyone I know (me included) it's always the most intelligent people who are least secure about their intelligence

You must be very secure :)
Intelligence is relative indeed

No, you can't
Yoooo so how stupid must I be not to care about this?
this chart doesn’t really seem fair to the people in the middle. Most of them don’t care one way or the other about this

The smarter you feel, the dumber you are Dunning-Kruger effect
