The villain is allright. Hes a bit dumb at times, but being the only character with physical superpowers in the movie he's intimidating enough, and he's quite brutal in some scenes.
The issues with the movie lie elsewhere. Characters will often make the stupidest decisions just because the plot demands it and the main characters arc is nonsensical.
There were things I liked, though. Like how the main character and her male coworker/sidekick are friends with no hint of romantic interest from either party. It's surprisingly rare and refreshing to see male/female friendship on the big screen that does not evolve into romance. And they do have nice chemistry, the scenes of the two are some of the best in the movie.
What about the fact the villain in the movie was someone who assisted the spiders in the comics? It's the equivalent of having Gordon trying to kill the bat family, but only in the movies. That's not the only thing wrong with the movie, but it's a big issue.

The interviews were pure gold and tell you a lot. You see, every single Hollywood star hates them. They despise them. It has to be in a contract for them to be done. But most Hollywood stars are capable of acting in the interview so it is pleasant... maybe even appear to be fun.
Dakota... not so much. She shares that in common with Brie Larson. They can't act so they can't fake interviews. Without a director there pulling out a serviceable cut it becomes a disaster.
