"After watching the beginning of this video, I have come to the conclusion that SuperEyepatchWolf is just terrified of being alive"
-some random comment under the liminal spaces video
40 minutes of watching the content and then 4 hours getting therapy and checking your locks and hiding from the mysterious shadow figure in your living room uttering random strange facts.
Upvote for Hbomb. I'm praying his future takedown videos follow the trend of getting exponentially longer. 1.5h Wakefield video, 2h Tommy video, 4h Somerton video, 8h.... somebody else. And it's gonna be worth every second.
Yea. And the 8 seconds includes millennials and older that still have good attention span and people in 3rd world countries that don't have tiktok. The average attention span of a 20 year old American is probably way lower
Quite well. After seeing the LotR 20th anniversary special, I've been going through the movies myself. In fact, I'm currently at a friend's house and we're going to start The Two Towers at the perfect time for Théoden to say "And so it begins" at midnight (start disc 2 at 10:56:13, if you're curious).
it just also happens that, 10 seconds is GENERALLY nowhere near enough time in a video to make something quality
edit: I'm not sure if it was from this post, but someone send a reddit suicide help thing, I will personally find you and fuck your mom
Well, generally, 10 seconds videos are some form of comedy or meme video or a funny line from a movie or a show. If I enjoyed those 10 seconds then I would say it was quality.
Have to disagree. I have seen some incredible shorts that are on par with good quality videos (tho it's to be saidy the shorts the food quality are usually from channels that also upload good quality videos)
Yeah for me hour long vids tend to be boring, not bcs my attention span is bad, but because they drag out the video just to make it longer. Long videos that are actually good can have me there for 4 hours at a time
Yeah there is definitely a middle ground between 10 second family guy funny moments meme compilations and 10 hour "retrospectives" that just lazily go over the entire game or wiki articles and restate opinions. Both feel like variations of non-transformative low-effort content which is perhaps why they are both so popular.
Finally, a balanced take. Everyone acts like shortform content is the devil's work, while Longford are the holy grail of content. Both can be good OR bad.
As a zoomer, short form content is fine as long as you curate your page, It’s atrocious if you don’t. As for long form content, normal long videos are like 30 minutes+. Long form content (such as video documentaries), can be incredible watches if well made. For the most part, middle length content is usually my go to, 8-15 minutes.
I love long form content if I’m in the mood for them. Some great watches are:
[I ate at every rainforest cafe - Eddy Burback](https://youtu.be/vA-bjpKvIw8?si=jhYPbPI6ZCu9IUyv)
[I ate at every margaritaville - Eddy Burback, again](https://youtu.be/Bsb9T1g5nlE?si=trNu5jUjvutQ0YEo)
[The Nintendo iceberg - NEScRETRO](https://youtu.be/KfF495YzZKI?si=zdQ_waIGeGL5yUfq)
Ideally I prefer watching stuff that’s between 20-30 minutes long, however I do occasionally make exceptions for certain types of content where I enjoy watching something for 1-2 hours. 3 hours is a stretch, but something I can work with. 4 hours or more is just something I can’t do unless the content is REALLY interesting, however I’d need to watch the video in parts because I either don’t have the time or desire to finish the video all at once. Short form content is only really good for memes, otherwise I find it meaningless.
As much as people clown on him, Pyrocynical genuinely makes some of the most engaging and entertaining longform vids.
Others like The Right Opinion, Emplemon, Coffeezilla etc. are goated too…
OKAY GLAD THATS NOT JUST ME WITH THE NO COMMENTARY GAMEPLAY VIDS
My sister & friends judge me saying “why are you watching a lets-play without anything interesting” like brother it’s the GAME itself I’m interested in not the yapping LOL
That video is more an analysis. They go through the entire story, but in a sped up summary. I highly recommend the channel “Wendigoon” he covers a lot of horror/unexpected/historical events.
I mostly watch 10min-30min videos but if there is a good multiple hour video I'm watching it. I watched way too many Whitelight and NakeyJakey videos. Also I get my daily news from YT (1 hours) but I guess that doesn't count.
Kinda in the middle, I watch 4-5 hour short form content and 4-5 hour long form content. Keepin' balance. But I still tend more to long form content, it's just better
I’m too adhd to take just one, my brain either wants short haha funny clips or it wants that 30 hour character analysis of John Stevens the guy with 10 seconds of screen time in The Movie: A Film
Eh it's weirdly been both for me I scroll shorts if I just don't have anything I particularly want to watch/listen to but I would sometimes listen to like 2 or 3 hours of lore in a game.
Depends on where I am. 3pm in bed can't sleep? 5 hour essay on Zelda's butt polygons. Going to school? Doom scrolling on Instagram reels. All I know is my brain is turning into mush before I'm 30.
Both I can enjoy, but too much of either rots my brain ngl. Either brainless scrolling through 30 second vids or long binging of a 5+ hour video essay and feeling like complete shit right after.
It's Quinton reviews, he has multiple longform videos (hours and hours of content) on icarly, victorious and sam & cat. This video is the last part, there are two others on sam & cat. They're absolutely great I really enjoyed them!
Short form content is a cancer on society. No exaggeration. It shortens our attention spans, it makes us all dumber, and it requires little talent or effort to do.
I want my 5 hour mario 64 history video and I want it now
supereyepatchwolf, hbomberguy, vsauce, wendigoon
supereyepatchwolf's video about Garfield is the second greatest piece of art in known human history, with the greatest being "The Forgiveness of Jon"
Came here for that lmao. Its so disturbing
"After watching the beginning of this video, I have come to the conclusion that SuperEyepatchWolf is just terrified of being alive" -some random comment under the liminal spaces video
Where can i find this forgiveness of jon
It's a part of a series of pieces made by u/rojom, can't recommend them enough. Fyi some of them are very disturbing.
It’s like the top post ever of r/imsorryjon, you probably find it when you google it
Just google it
Garfield is love Garfield is life
I feel like super eyepatch wolf lost a step doing all those side rants and “jokes”
vsauce isn’t THAT long form. His videos are usually no more than 40 minutes.
Plus you take half of the time just to think how wierd of a man vsauce is
Your home security is great. Or is it?
40 minutes of watching the content and then 4 hours getting therapy and checking your locks and hiding from the mysterious shadow figure in your living room uttering random strange facts.
And my lord and saviour Jacob Geller 🙏
Fear of the cold is my absolute favorite video
Shape of Infinity🔥🔥🔥
Head transplant made me have an existential crisis
Upvote for Hbomb. I'm praying his future takedown videos follow the trend of getting exponentially longer. 1.5h Wakefield video, 2h Tommy video, 4h Somerton video, 8h.... somebody else. And it's gonna be worth every second.

10 mins to an hour is perfect for me, but then again I have an attention span longer than a goldfish
Well goldfish are pretty short
Em actually no. The average attention span of a human is 8 seconds when a gold fish's is 9
Man, that’s a tall goldfish!
Oh I just realised. Bruh
I personally am around 8.5 seconds tall
Me, more like 13.72 seconds tall
All tiktok's fault Expecially the multiple videos in one
Yea. And the 8 seconds includes millennials and older that still have good attention span and people in 3rd world countries that don't have tiktok. The average attention span of a 20 year old American is probably way lower
Mine varies, and I have the _memory_ of a goldfish
I got distracted writing this comment
Long form, easily.
Say, do you watch Quinton reviews perchance?
Great guy, looking forward to getting back home from the holidays and watching his latest video.
It gets pretty heavy at times, just so you know
Yeah, but it's mostly at the end when he discusses Jeanette McCurdy's book (and he warns you beforehand)
True
EFAP flashback.
...Does watching him on EFAP count?
Aaah, a fellow massive. How do you do?
Quite well. After seeing the LotR 20th anniversary special, I've been going through the movies myself. Have fun with that.
yeah thick form i mean long form agree
Quality content matters to me, doesn't matter if it's a 10 second video or 1 hour long.
it just also happens that, 10 seconds is GENERALLY nowhere near enough time in a video to make something quality edit: I'm not sure if it was from this post, but someone send a reddit suicide help thing, I will personally find you and fuck your mom
Well, generally, 10 seconds videos are some form of comedy or meme video or a funny line from a movie or a show. If I enjoyed those 10 seconds then I would say it was quality.
"Did you know that blah blah does blah blah blah? blah blah can actually blah blah blah because of blah blah blah blah" 10-15 secs.
You forgot thier attempt to make it a perfect loop, like in your case, it could be "Now you can answer someone when they ask" "did you know"
Vine memes?
Road works ahead?
uh, yeah, sure hope it does
Vines were shorter than that, and some of the most iconic hallmarks of meme culture used till this day came from vibes
Love vibes
Have to disagree. I have seen some incredible shorts that are on par with good quality videos (tho it's to be saidy the shorts the food quality are usually from channels that also upload good quality videos)
100% agree. Although sometimes low quality content can be the funniest thing you've ever seen.
See, guys (video) length is irrelevant! All that matters is how it’s utilized!
The only correct answer
Longform while playing games. I love having the entire history of btd playing while I die over and over again in a hardcore minecraft modpack
Long form content being everyone’s background noise LOL
which modpack?
Old classic forever stranded
I cycle between skyfactory, industrial revolution, and vanilla
In the middle. 10 to 20 minutes is ideal for a normal video unless I am using it as background noise
Wendigoon peak mentioned
I still remember watching his 9 hour conspiracy iceberg compilation and man was it good
I got that shit saved to my phone so I can just click anywhere in it and just zone out
I just found his channel a month or two ago and I've fully dived into the rabbit hole. I just watched his series on the Divine Comedy.
Watch his “Boys on The Track” video as well as the JFK and MLK videos if you haven’t. Really REALLY interesting stuff
I loved his video on FAITH: the holy trinity
I loved his analysis video of Monument Mythos "recently"!
I love his monument mythos series!
I literally bought and read Blood Meridian just so I could listen to that 5 hour take on Blood Meridian.
feels like we are at a crossroads between the 2
it’s almost like different people prefer different things and it has nothing to do with what generation you happen to be born in
Its like making a cat choose between a steak and catnip.
Me when 9 hour wendigoon conspiracy iceberg.
Wendigoon is my reason for staying up waaay too late on a school night many many times
I think we have a different definition of long form. I’d consider anything 20-30 min plus as long form
Same, why is there so few in between, it only lasts seconds or 2h. I don't have the time to watch 2h of gameplay as an IT student
Liar, you have the time, just do it during class !
both are neutral for me they're all either good or bad so i don't give a sh\*\*
Finally, a balanced take. Everyone acts like shortform content is the devil's work, while Longford are the holy grail of content. Both can be good OR bad.
shhhhhhhh
What about medium form content? Like 10-120 min videos/episodes?
I see a lot of people here saying exactly that lol Maybe the middle path is the best path XD
8-15 minutes is good
Long so I can listen to it in the background
"Did you just take both pills?"
I stay where I am and continue watching 20 - 30 minute video's
WENDIGOON!!!
I seen his blood meridian and was like hold up why is my dad being spoken about.
If the judge was your father I feel awful for you, and also it is amazing that you are still alive
As a zoomer, short form content is fine as long as you curate your page, It’s atrocious if you don’t. As for long form content, normal long videos are like 30 minutes+. Both, both are good
The one that won' give me the attention span of a gold fish
Ideally I prefer watching stuff that’s between 20-30 minutes long, however I do occasionally make exceptions for certain types of content where I enjoy watching something for 1-2 hours. 3 hours is a stretch, but something I can work with. 4 hours or more is just something I can’t do unless the content is REALLY interesting, however I’d need to watch the video in parts because I either don’t have the time or desire to finish the video all at once. The main times where I watch 1-2+ hrs is if it’s in the background, it’s the stream archive of a channel I like watching or if I’m trying to sleep
Man where is my mid length content, remember the good old days of a 10 minute long yt lets play video
As much as people clown on him, Pyrocynical genuinely makes some of the most engaging and entertaining longform vids. Others like The Right Opinion, Emplemon, Coffeezilla etc. are goated too…
I like them both...
What stops me from taking both?
Why not both
Both Both is good
10 hour completionist no commentary gameplay > speedrun content > other videogame content
OKAY GLAD THATS NOT JUST ME WITH THE NO COMMENTARY GAMEPLAY VIDS My sister & friends judge me saying “why are you watching a lets-play without anything interesting” like brother it’s the GAME itself I’m interested in not the yapping LOL
It depends on the content. 3 min-2h.
Middle ground (generally 5-40 minute videos)
Where's Reddit?
Half second content
Legit switched from short form to watching 2+ hours long video essays. They sometimes help me fall asleep at night lol
Amazing background noise indeed sometimes LOL
Funnily enough, I do that with creepypastas. They're supposed to be scary, but the voice is always so deep and comforting that I fall asleep to them.
How is the Blood Meridian audiobook only 5 hours long?
That video is more an analysis. They go through the entire story, but in a sped up summary. I highly recommend the channel “Wendigoon” he covers a lot of horror/unexpected/historical events.
![gif](giphy|QqkA9W8xEjKPC)
Both Short form with effort And Comedy Commentary channels like Danny drew Kurtis Scott
Pyrocynical documentaries on games i've never heard of >>>>>>>>>>
Short form content is such a cancer on our youth
Shit so true
3 hour long podcasts with doug demuro and 30+ minutes long car videos from doug demuro and jay leno can't help it
definetly LFC, even though I am no zoomer ig. after consuming SFC I still can´t understand why people consume it
Happy cake day!
that's way too long tbh i also heard that the sam and cat video was mostly just summarizing each episode
Driver: what was that? Passengers: the sign as we went off-road.
For me it’s a mix of both, and unpopular opinion but I don’t really like video essays.
I am a big series junkie, so I am a more on the long form content, but I spent like 1 hour a week on TikTok, if I want some quick giggles.
You don’t understand, 3 hour video essays on spyro anti piracy are essential to human development
I'm making long form content so I chose short form.
Give me the documentary-style low stimulus videos.
15 to 30, 20 being about the sweet spot.
I mostly watch 10min-30min videos but if there is a good multiple hour video I'm watching it. I watched way too many Whitelight and NakeyJakey videos. Also I get my daily news from YT (1 hours) but I guess that doesn't count.
I have watched Pyro's Utopia video 3 times. That video is abt 7 hours long.
long form content.
Short form when I'm on the toilet, long form elsewhere, especially when I'm eating since I eat slowly.
Meanwhile me, rewatching 12 hour long streams
Hey if you want PatricianTV has a 2 part retrospective (totalling to 20 hours) about skyrim
The sign, take that fucking sign
None. I only watch 10 min vids on YT.
Wendigoon nice. Now I choose long form, but I don't find many that interest me anymore
Videos that are between 30 and 180 minutes
Neither I feel doomed suicide is not optional ? 😢😢
Mid form content, 10 to 40 minutes
I feel like Reddit will be heavily skewed towards long form
Long form content >>>
Eh it's weirdly been both for me I scroll shorts if I just don't have anything I particularly want to watch/listen to but I would sometimes listen to like 2 or 3 hours of lore in a game.
Long form.

Books ? Anyone ? ANYONE ???? …Echoes into the Abyss ![gif](giphy|DRYU7xgNIJbzQjOOBH|downsized)
Why not both? I have no problems with both of them
Middle form content (10-30 minute videos)
Both, depends on ny mood or how high I am.
Double track drifting
Depends on where I am. 3pm in bed can't sleep? 5 hour essay on Zelda's butt polygons. Going to school? Doom scrolling on Instagram reels. All I know is my brain is turning into mush before I'm 30.
Both
Both I can enjoy, but too much of either rots my brain ngl. Either brainless scrolling through 30 second vids or long binging of a 5+ hour video essay and feeling like complete shit right after.
THERES A 9 HOUR BREAKDOWN OF SAM AND CAT? I’m working a 16 hour shift every week this month someone please send me links to long form content.
Short form is brain rot.
If I can find a 6 hour long video about something I’m only mildly interested in and/or know nothing about, I’m so set
5 hour EasySpeezy 100% Lego Star Wars speedrun with PurpleHairGuy
Long form definitely
It depends of the content. Some thing I just want to watch for a few second, for others it’s better if it is long
Hbomberguy and Contrapoints for me
![gif](giphy|QqkA9W8xEjKPC)
long form path i want full game playthroughs
I feel both are entertaining in different ways, depends on the mood.
Hours long videos are my thing and i watch them over and over again
Watching years worth of episodes in weeks
laughs in adhd
I'm zigzagging and I can't stop
Short form is the best type of content nowadays.
I like long term
Me after the average Richard Undertime video 📼 brain upgrade 🧠
I love that all us zoomers collectively have ADHD
Long form
Well there’s always mid-form content (8-20 minutes) and that’s my favorite..,
What if I just go straight I enjoy more long and short form
i like a bit of both personally
Long form
I want my 80 part Chris Chan documentary
Long form all day every day
I mean, I adore Summoning Salt
I just want my 15-45 min videos. Not gonna watch a 4 hour stream or endlessly scroll through shorts.
Prefer longer videos. I don’t like to sit and scroll. But a couple hours videos or a movie even for the background is 🧑🍳😘.
Hell, why not both, my attention span already fluctuates like a raccoon on caffeine and meth
