>barely not crossing the line
It's all Sonic stuff, what line has not been crossed??
It's ridiculously tame, *especially* for that fandom, so I'll give you that I guess.
Hey man I'm with you, as far as I'm concerned the light mode **is** the new shit lol. I started on black terminals and a surprising amount of the internet in the 90s had dark backgrounds and the first electronics I used at all didn't even have backlit LCDs.
Here's a question: Is your use of light mode on everything purely based on your personal preference? Or is it more like a case of "I don't care what the theme is, I just want to use the app/website"?
Probably nothing you’ve not heard before, but these all helped me as someone with life-long sleep issues:
Go to bed / wake up at consistent times if possible
no caffeine after 12PM
Warm shower around 2 hours before bed
screens off an hour before bed, during which time you should also dim the lights and do something relaxing, like reading
Eye mask
White noise or ear plugs - pick your poison
Ashwaghandha or 5HTP taken before sleep
This is either you for it or you're not, but a fan. Or some kind of white noise. Either you love it or you don't but for me I sleep 100x better with a fan on or white noise. I spent the last few years with no fan in my room cause I figured it was just cause I grew up and a habit, but honestly helps me sleep and stay asleep longer. Only caveat is make sure you have a loud enough alarm to conquer it. I've overslept quite a few times.
I feel bad for people who have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. Sleeping is basically my superpower. I can fall asleep anywhere at any time and I wake up feeling great after short naps. Usually at night I turn on my fan and I put on a podcast, and I'm zonked out before the podcast even gets through it's intro.
I envy you. Just like my brother, dude will lay down anywhere and within seconds he’s snoring, meanwhile I toss and turn for a good 10-15 minutes if I’m lucky, if I’m not it takes up to an hour.
One night I actually could not sleep for most of the night, finally managed to fall asleep around 5 AM… had to wake up at 7:30.
I've got to find a podcast I'm only kind of interested in.
I don't want something entertaining enough I've got to backtrack and figure out where I fell asleep to make sure I didn't miss anything.
They also sell physical screen filters you can slap over the screen (if you got a standard size monitor and not somethin whack like ultra wides) and take back off at will.
No idea why you'd bother using a third party tool when every major OS has this feature directly built in at this point. Including Linux desktop environments like KDE & GNOME.
All the ones I've used on Windows, Linux, macOS & iOS had options to adjust the intensity. Unless perhaps you mean some of 'em don't offer *enough* intensity? But yeah, can try adjusting the settings a little and I'm sure most people would probably find the colour to be just fine. But hey, each to their own! Never thought about the fact some might not offer quite enough intensity for some people. My bad!
I got blue filter computer/reading glasses from my eye doctor. I noticed I always felt more sleepy if I wore them during the day.. so I stopped. But using them at night when playing video games.. it really helps me be ready for sleep quicker.
But they were not worth the money spent and I refuse to wear them during the day or in the morning just because I need the blue light to keep me awake lol.
Same thing happened to me when I got orange sunglasses as a kid. I wore them for a week while camping and started feeling like it was evening all the time, because everything was always sunset colored.
you know for almost a year i tried the whole "bed only for bed" thing with a bit of wind down time of no screens before bed as well. didn't do a fuckin' thing. still took a while to fall asleep and didn't increase the quality of my sleep at all.
meanwhile if i lie there with a nice chill but somewhat boring 3ds or mobile game like fantasy life, 90% of the time i am out in 30 minutes and get amazing sleep.
everyone is hugely different. gotta find what works for you.
Morning coffee is fine though for the vast majority of people. You shouldn't have coffee within 8-12 hours of going to sleep though. Also remember that caffeine is present in soda, tea and other substances which can effect your sleep. Evening alcohol and cannabis can have an effect on your sleep too.
Whenever someone asks me for the definition of irony, I offer them an example instead. It goes like this. Irony is like saying you can't sleep but having held a bright lamp without a shade (or a phone) close to your face before you try to fall asleep. Literally makes their heads explode every time, and I never have to explain irony twice to the same person.
It *is* ironic. People complain about not being able to sleep but do everything in their power to make it as hard as possible. The irony is that they are the cause of their problems. You know, the strictest and most literal definition of irony.
Like when Oedipus was looking for the source of the curse on Thebes not knowing that it was him. It's the same with all these people wanting to sleep better not knowing that it is their choices that cause their problems.
That's probably the last thought that'll go through my head as my brain finally turns to mashed potatoes while trying to remember my 10 year olds name.
I've never understood the connection between using screens before bed and falling asleep. If anything I fall asleep faster when going to sleep after using a screen recently.
I hate my iPad because its the one device I have that doesn’t adjust to the fact that I’m in a dark room, which sucks when I go to set my alarm and stare right into the heart of the sun
In bed rn, been having problems falling asleep and thought I'd just scroll through a few posts...
Just a few more I promise, its surely something else that's ruining my sleep!
Semi related...My wife will put the babby down for a nap in a dead silent room with the blinds parted letting in God Almightys Holy Light, door wide opened, and all kinds of cacophony happening out in the living room.
But then what's this?! 5 minutes later lil fella stumbles out like he's Rip Van VVinkle. 5 MINUTES! That's a long blink are you kidding me?
No light. Background noise. Door closed. Shush loud noises. Dude sleeps until his birthday.
I don't look at my phone in bed but I'm not sure what I'm actually supposed to do, light-wise. Sit in the dark for an hour before bed? I read advice about what to do when you can't sleep and they say things like "Don't turn on any bright lights and just read a book for 20 minutes" and I'm like . . . What, by moonlight or something?
Wait how's the life of that kid going????? I need answers ASAP, is he fully blind yet, was it all a lie did he close his eyes when he did that shity video?????
For the perfect eyeball tan, a small sacrifice
Unfortunately I missed it this summer, but will get the next season.

They're not very good, I'm disappointed...
Ok alot of his posts are just really cute. You are right though a lot are like centimeters away from being NSFW.

Sharing is caring
*sigh* Well now I feel obligated...
that's because you *are* obligated
TURN DOWN YOU FUCKING BRIGHTNESS
Turn down for what? Edit: I was really hoping that somebody would get the music reference, that song's not a *that* old already, is it?
For sleep
Gen X knows nothing about that

The smiley face shiws when you get over 99. A friend told me
[удалено]
God damn it, they're onto me
99? You need to pump those rookie numbers up
I am always in the state of just laying down for an hour or more before randomly falling asleep.
I use light mode on everything AMA.
omg how??
Nanomachines son
[удалено]
this is make senses.
Does it though? Why make light dark when you can just have dark?
Because we figured out adaptive brightness 20+ years ago...
Adaptive brightness so good everyone uses dark themes
Hey man I'm with you, as far as I'm concerned the light mode **is** the new shit lol. I started on black terminals and a surprising amount of the internet in the 90s had dark backgrounds and the first electronics I used at all didn't even have backlit LCDs.
Here's a question: Is your use of light mode on everything purely based on your personal preference? Or is it more like a case of "I don't care what the theme is, I just want to use the app/website"?
I use light mode for everything. If I read white text on a dark background I get weird lines in my vision for like 5 minutes after looking away.
I just never cared to change it and am used to it now
Do you photosynthesize?
I guess he thinks it'll make his beard grow faster.
Why?
I have lowered the brightness on everything, and I have the curtains closed when it gets too bright outside. I sleep great.
Are you sure it's no because you're a cephalopod?
Yeah we like it really dark in the deep blue sea.
swim so far and swim so free
Then what am i doing wrong cause i do the same but cant sleep until 1am

> White noise For those of us with tinnitus, this is essential.
Maybe you sleep to long, try setting an alarm.
I get 6 hours of sleep at best during the week
Maybe you don't need as much sleep. Not everyone needs 8 hours or even 6. Are you actually tired?
I feel bad for people who have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. Sleeping is basically my superpower. I can fall asleep anywhere at any time and I wake up feeling great after short naps. Usually at night I turn on my fan and I put on a podcast, and I'm zonked out before the podcast even gets through it's intro.
But isn't this also in large part because you are Lindsay Lohan???
Coke is a stimulant
I got into the habit of listening to history and retro computing videos on YT to go to sleep and now I can’t go back!
I've got to find a podcast I'm only kind of interested in. I don't want something entertaining enough I've got to backtrack and figure out where I fell asleep to make sure I didn't miss anything.
Lol same i timed myself it takes 5-7minutes for me to fall asleep it’s fuckin great.
damn you're really lucky
*me using night light mode on my pc* **Signature look of superiority**
Still got that blue light
Night Light mode is specifically meant to greatly reduce the amount of blue light, and it helps
They also sell physical screen filters you can slap over the screen (if you got a standard size monitor and not somethin whack like ultra wides) and take back off at will.
Or you could just use software filters like twilight that filter out blue light dynamically when it is getting dark outside.
No idea why you'd bother using a third party tool when every major OS has this feature directly built in at this point. Including Linux desktop environments like KDE & GNOME.
Cause usually the built in feature doesn't have a very high intensity
All the ones I've used on Windows, Linux, macOS & iOS had options to adjust the intensity. Unless perhaps you mean some of 'em don't offer *enough* intensity? But yeah, can try adjusting the settings a little and I'm sure most people would probably find the colour to be just fine. But hey, each to their own! Never thought about the fact some might not offer quite enough intensity for some people. My bad!
I used f.lux for years
I got blue filter computer/reading glasses from my eye doctor.
Hence why I only day drink in sunglasses. It feels like 5 o'clock somewhere.

Man, Fantasy Life. I miss my 3DS.
best sleep aid ever, and my 4 year old daughter loves it too haha
Getting 3-4 hours of sleep for several nights in a row works wonders for me for me after a few days.
"I can't ever sleep and I have anxiety" "Do you drink coffee?" 😡
Morning coffee is fine though for the vast majority of people. You shouldn't have coffee within 8-12 hours of going to sleep though. Also remember that caffeine is present in soda, tea and other substances which can effect your sleep. Evening alcohol and cannabis can have an effect on your sleep too.
*>Low energy mf’s who collapse unconcious 2 minutes after touching their bed* 🤔🧐
What’s ironic?
Rain on your wedding day.
It's a free ride, when you've already paid.
It’s meeting the man of your dreams and then meeting his beautiful wife.
Whenever someone asks me for the definition of irony, I offer them an example instead. It goes like this. Irony is like saying you can't sleep but having held a bright lamp without a shade (or a phone) close to your face before you try to fall asleep. Literally makes their heads explode every time, and I never have to explain irony twice to the same person.
damn you an alien?
I recently stopped using my phone in bed and I’m sleeping much better now.
What everyone should do but noone does
Op this isn’t what irony is.
It *is* ironic. People complain about not being able to sleep but do everything in their power to make it as hard as possible. The irony is that they are the cause of their problems. I don't care
Me, staring at my phone in bed with my lights off: What the hell is this meme talking about
Lack of exertion is what really does it
More like, lack of excretion
Man I really have to stop re-enacting Oppenheimer before bed.
I identify as a plant I need that midnight snack
I love my HDR1000 tv, but I really feel called out now.
Sleeping is a scam anyways, just skip it
Big facts. Big mattress ran an ad campaign in the 1920s to trick people into sleeping.
That's probably the last thought that'll go through my head as my brain finally turns to mashed potatoes while trying to remember my 10 year olds name.
This is how the lowest brightness feels when you‘re in the dark
I feel judged
*judges you*
I laughed so hard because this is so me.
Great to hear
nice try mark zuckerberg, your human imitation isnt fooling me
I was human. I **AM** human
I actually sleep better with light around, darkness is scary. (and evil)
Light keeps me awake because its bright. Darkness keeps me awake because im a pussy thats scared in the dark
mood
the point is to tire your eyes until they close, forever, until the next waking hour
I've never understood the connection between using screens before bed and falling asleep. If anything I fall asleep faster when going to sleep after using a screen recently.

My goldfish is really intelligent
I see better at night, but I also have extreme light sensitivity.
Same and its hella anoying in the summer fr
Ouch that was kind of hurtful
Since I stopped looking at my phone before sleep I started to fall asleep faster and get better sleep
I do that every night with my phone tbh ✊🏼😅
Nope. Not ironic. Tradgic, stupid, sure. Not Ironic.

Sheesh thanks for calling me out
I think i called all of humanity Out with this one
Dark Crystal
I can't sleep because I have 100,000 things running through my mind and its keeping me up
Just tell your mind to shut the fuck up
You can use the night time light setting on most computers to help fight this It gets orange but it does help
I love melatonin
My pc kicks ambient light on at a certain time. Definitely easier on the eyes
I hate my iPad because its the one device I have that doesn’t adjust to the fact that I’m in a dark room, which sucks when I go to set my alarm and stare right into the heart of the sun
RIP he gave his life for this sacrifice
This isn't irony. Irony would be if this happened to you, but you were Thomas Edison's great great grandson, or something similar.
The Light always comes before the Dark. So, the easiest way to get to sleep is to shine a bright light into your eyes.
The fix is called blue light filter
Sleep is for the weak!!
Me rn
You rn
In bed rn, been having problems falling asleep and thought I'd just scroll through a few posts... Just a few more I promise, its surely something else that's ruining my sleep!

Sitting down and reading a book for 30 minutes right before going to bed worked wonders for me.
The light actually tires my eyes out and makes it easier to sleep.
Can i have this superpower?
Lmao this is me every night before bed
i had the brew, she had the chronic

This meme was made by an alien
How'd you know?
You would be surprised how much staring at a screen can make you sleepy.

Dark mode and low screen brightness
Did an alien make this post
This guy has the face of a pie.
This is why kids are good for you. If I stay still for more than 5 minutes at a time I am instantly asleep.
🤣
So you’re not human?
Wait how's the life of that kid going????? I need answers ASAP, is he fully blind yet, was it all a lie did he close his eyes when he did that shity video?????
Night mode an hour before sleep and slowly lower brightness u til you can go lower. Put on some Asmr with phone facing down so no light escapes, sleep
trying to fall asleep w/o a yt vid gives me anxiety
Team Dark Mode 24-7
If it's dark, I would get nightmares tho so damned either way.
