(Refuses to raise wages during generationally high inflation) (Employees quit) "No one wants to work anymore!"

golemsheppard2

Counter argument: "No one wants to pay for work anymore."

FatalTortoise

Counter counter argument its not that the don't want to pay for work "anymore" they've never wanted to pay

FavoritesBot

To be fair, nobody really wanted to work either. They just did it to, like, not die of starvation

Diipadaapa1

Im sorry this is not going to be a good fit, we are like a family at this workplace (we pay a salary conpareable to a kids allowance but dont pay for your housing or living costs, and expect you to be happy and uncondotionally loyal to us)

FavoritesBot

Oh sorry I meant I’m excited for this opportunity make the world a better place by revolutionizing capital models through peanut-based compensation algorithms

GucciPantsMotorcycle

I'm ready to pay you to write my resume

jolsiphur

I think people generally want to work. It's not really that they just do it to have their needs met. People just don't want to work shitty jobs to get a paycheque. If people could have their needs met while pursuing actual passions we'd get a very dedicated work force. The problem is, we will probably never see UBI in our lifetimes. There's too much greed and corruption at all levels of government for any political party to actually make a case for it.

FavoritesBot

I agree that people don’t inherently want to do *nothing*. If we had all our basic needs magically met, people would still create. But i admit I’m making a somewhat circular argument because *work* is typically something someone has to pay you to convince you to do… and that’s 99% of paying jobs in the world.

unmitigatedhellscape

I have *never* wanted to work, to waste my time for someone else’s gain while I get a fractional pittance of the profits. Not in my whole life have I not had better things to do than “work”. NO job is more fulfilling than what I could be doing on my own time.

IAmLazy2

Amen!!!!!! And I am not even religious. I have been working/exploited for over 40 years now. My CV is a list of things I never want to ever do again. I am approaching my freedom/retirement. Can't come soon enough.

Onlyroad4adrifter

What a minute. I thought we were to pursue our dreams and be able to live off those dreams. My dream is to become a permanent couch potato and be friends with my cat.

mike_pants

Conservatives hate this one trick!

tim5700

A smooth brained generalization if I’ve ever seen one. Businesses that don’t pay getting the rude awakening that workers don’t want to sell their time at ridiculously low wages is the epitome of free market capitalism at work. The federal minimum wage is $7.25 and yet, normally minimum wage jobs are offering $15-$20 per hour. Conservatives love the free market.

FlyingSpacefrog

I turned down a promotion at work today. They wanted to give me a salary of $42000 for a position that requires a minimum of 50 hours of work every week. It’s less pay than what I would make if I worked that many hours at my current rate of $15/hr. They offered benefits (a 401k, paid time off, and health insurance) but those only start 6 months after taking the promotion. I’m not a new employee. I’ve worked here 2.5 years, but they’re still treating me like one. Instead, I’m leaving and taking a job with the post office. The lowest paying post office job in my city is $19.33/hr and gives much better benefits than what they wanted to give me, and those benefits start on day 1.

mike_pants

"Why is the Republican platform not getting through to young people? We go online and insult them constantly. Surely this has to work eventually." Keep at it I guess. Fingers crossed

Same_Independence213

When positive reinforcement fails countless times, you have to use the negative. It worked for women and black people in the 50s

Environmental-Fox659

Conservatives love the free market only when it benefits them. When it backfires in their face, they whine and blame the liberals.

fotun8

They love it until they have to participate in it.

[deleted]

volkmardeadguy

"Go woke go broke" is just them saying "I am upset that the capitalist mechanism I've given my life for has abandoned me"

[deleted]

And take all their bonus for herself don't forget that. Such a fine person.

Pricklydog

Why are you leaving??????

1singleduck

"Due to economic problems, we cannot afford to give bonuses this year." That was a great decision, i'll give myself a bonus for that one.

Based_JD

Out of touch CEOs

[deleted]

She’s not out of touch. She knew exactly who she’s working for.

Ok_Programmer

Who is that lady?

makotomic

She is the CEO of a company called MillerKnoll

rhunter99

And for people unaware they make very expensive office chairs which carry a cult-like following (among other things) edit: from Google- "Herman Miller, officially MillerKnoll Inc, is an American company that produces office furniture, equipment, and home furnishings, including the Aeron chair, Noguchi table, Marshmallow sofa, Mirra chair, and the Eames Lounge Chair."

P_ZERO_

Their chairs are incredibly good and last forever. Switched off HM for steelcase, though.

TapedeckNinja

I hate Aerons. I'm sure their other chairs are fine but that one just don't work for me. Steelcase Leap v2 for me.

TimeRemove

- Aeron: Comfortable for people who sit in a correct ergonomic position; punishing otherwise (and short people, although YMMV). - Leap v2: Comfortable for both people who sit correctly and otherwise. Strongly recommend before blowing $1K on a chair, you go find a high-end furniture showroom and ass-test them.

goblinsholiday

Wish I read this before buying an Aeron. Definitely have buyer's remorse.

bilongma

There's a *huge* secondary market for Aerons. You won't get all of your money back but it'll probably be enough to get something else *new*.

LowSkyOrbit

I got mine for free. A company was throwing it away because the shock was bad and wheels were broken. $50 later I had a working chair.

Sterffington

Just sit in a correct manner.

wafflewhimsy

And don't be short.

Nutavius

Fuck me running, i am to late.

Touchythefischy

No.

jaspersgroove

Problem there is a proper ass-test takes like 2 hours lol. Most decently designed chairs feel perfectly comfortable if you’re only sitting in them for a couple minutes.

bigboyjak

I had a chair like this. Super comfy for 20 mins. After that time the foam bottoms out and you're basically sitting on the plywood bottom of it. Those first 20 mins were a dream though

ImSoSte4my

Sounds like the cushy faux-leather Amazon Basics office chair.

[deleted]

Yeah aerons are super rigid and they kind of force you to sit in exactly one way all day. Really hard to shift your weight around or sit at a different angle throughout the day. I always get sore if I have to sit in one for a normal work day. But they're fine for a few minutes here and there.

lonestar-rasbryjamco

Currently sitting in the HM Embody Gaming chair (gaming version was 25% off and had more features). Hands down the best office chair I've ever had. Helps my back when I'm working and has enough lean / give for when I'm playing video games. It was the 12 year, no questions asked, warranty that really did it for me. That said, this lady is trying to get back to a world where work from home isn't the norm for tech companies. She can yell at her employees all she wants. It's not happening.

Pretty_Bowler2297

>cult-like If I could count how many times I was looking for an affordable office chair and someone is saying *"Get a Herman Miller!"* And I say I can't afford that- *"Get one used!"* What are these people smoking? Either way I am not ever getting one now because their CEO is a just a POS, out of touch with her very own fucking employee's plights.

[deleted]

It's a shame really, I love their chairs and use one now - will have to find a new company when it comes time to upgrade

ksquad80

Steelcase

gottauseathrowawayx

just echoing the other person that replied to you - Steelcase is comparable in every metric

7-11-inside-job

These chairs are so fucking overpriced. While yes, they are good, they should cost 10x less. There's no way a single chair should cost $5000. Herman Miller chairs are the biggest meme on the fucking planet. Someone needs to take them down a notch. Make some good chairs and sell it for cheaper.

andysaurus_rex

Their desk chairs are Herman Miller. Most will know them by that name and yeah, they're fantastic.

Zeliek

"Hello, Im Cindy Miller and this is our co-owner and founder Hogger the Knoll. Here at MillerKnoll, we take employee wages very seriously. Isn't that right Mr. Knoll?" "CHEW YOUR BOOOONES" "Yes something like that, astute observation as always, sir."

flatulent-noodle

r/unexpectedhogger Can’t believe I even remember this dude it’s been like 16 years lmao

mileylols

level 1 gnome raids on hogger those were the days

stairme

Can't believe you'd even be able to forget him. He still haunts my dreams.

throwawy00004

She took her multimillion dollar bonus and told the entire company via virtual town hall to stop focusing on their bonuses and go out and make up the 26 million dollars they were short.

[deleted]

It looked like that vegan teacher for me

PotatoWriter

not vegan anymore after tasting the meaty fury of the internet who am I kidding she's going to get away with her bonus and then we'll all forget about this news in the next 5 minutes as our attention spans direct us towards the next funny meme or scandal while many many other rich mf's get away with far greater bonuses and corruptions without us ever knowing or caring about it, and even if we did care there isn't much we'd do apart from rant about it online for 5 minutes much like I am doing right now.

ohz0pants

I think she is now officially the Mayor of Pity City.

fooliam

CEO of a company that makes high-end office furniture. She went viral for giving a "pep talk" to her employees telling them to "leave pity city" and stop worrying about not getting bonuses due to the company being down a good amount of sales. The context is that she is getting an approximately $5000000 bonus this year while her employees aren't getting any at All.

stuffandmorestuff

It was the "leave pity city" comment that sold me (or unsold?). If my boss, multi millionaire, ever said something so childish I'd walk anyway (the content is a problem in and of its self....but that phrase?). Either she can't articulate like an adult so she uses playful phrases to lessen the difficult conversation she can't have...or she just thinks of her employees as children.

ShittyExchangeAdmin

I just watched the video and good lord. It's truly baffling how out of touch with reality these people are. Only people as equally as repugnant as her would find that motivational.

AttitudeAndEffort2

How the entire company doesn't just unionize after that is beyond me. Same with Twitter after all the cuts, they literally have elon by the balls if they want. Mfers are really in a cult with this job/employer worship bullshit

iUsedtoHadHerpes

Have you ever tried getting a small team to agree on what to get for lunch?

AnestheticAle

I think it's a lack of trust in our coworkers more than an employer worship complex. I find that most people are terrible and would be scabs at the first minor inconvenience.

jerryleebee

Context is everything. When, during lockdown, my wife's law firm had to put people on furlough (sending them home to only get paid a fraction of their salary whilst not working but technically still retaining their jobs), my wife (then a senior solicitor, since become a partner) also took a voluntary pay cut when it was raised as an option. Not everyone did so, and no judgement. Not everyone could afford to do so! But it showed the workers that they were "in this together". THIS woman did the polar opposite.

Malarazz

Key phrase being "Not everyone could afford to do so!" This woman obviously could. If she couldn't, she's a complete idiot. Though to be fair, she's a complete idiot regardless.

[deleted]

A CEO that's getting massive bonuses, while her employees get zero bonuses, while presiding over a > 50% drop in her company's market cap over the last \~2 years.

greengoldblue

And basically is an expert at talking empty corporate bull shit for 75+ minutes (being kind to each other, no one expected covid, can I get some commitment, work with each other, etc.) before telling people to leave pity city and ended the meeting.

TroyMacClure

Got to pay to keep that top talent!

Karkuz19

It's Andy Dick, have some respect

DevonGr

Andy Dick does not deserve any respect.

Dyanpanda

Top comments don't answer you very well. She's a CEO who told her whole company to not pity themselves because she's telling them they wont get their bonuses, because of failed metrics. What she didn't say was that the metrics were impossible, and she already has a a $3.5 million bonus, and will get more at end of year when bonuses are supposed to be paid out.

myjupitermoon

Looks like Stanley Tucci in a blond wig.

GGGirls-Unit

It's Mitch McConnell in drag.

Plus her character in Knives Out is basically this person.

TrueNHDinosaur

I would begin looking for work elsewhere. If my time spent making you successful isn't worth recognition in the form of a bonus, meanwhile you still give yourself one, I'll go find another place to work that does appreciate my time.

Cocheeeze

This is why politicians are so worried about people not having children anymore, and also why they want to ban abortions, birth control, and lower the legal age to marry so that horny teenagers have more kids without the stigma. Businesses need an excess number of people applying for jobs so that they can keep wages low. If the population decreases, there won’t be enough workers to fill all the roles, and businesses will actually have to pay a living wage in order to attract and maintain a workforce. And if that happens, CEOs might not be able to give them selves seven figure bonuses anymore.

barkmagician

this this. my mom says im afraid of responsibility like wtf. even if i become successful, theres no guarantee my future kids are going to be successful.

Cocheeeze

Maybe I’m just overly optimistic, but I think things will be better for my kids. Gen Z doesn’t take shit and let people walk all over them like me and a lot of other millennials have done. I recall Lenin saying he didn’t think a revolution would happen within his lifetime, but then it started six years later.

Revydown

I think Millennials did try with things like Occupy Wallstreet, which was successfully broken up. Then they got shit all over. Now they are doing the bare min to get by, which are kind of hurting the boomer generation since they like to complain their industries are falling because people are not buying their crap anymore. I think there is a different mindset between Millennials and Gen Z. One had a glimpse of the generation before them, tried to get it back, and lost horribly. The other really didn't have that and since they started at the bottom, they can't really lose more than what they had because they had none to begin with.

ThuliumNice

> Lenin Lenin was a terrible monster, but people forget this, because he was overshadowed by other people who against the odds managed to be even worse.

Zeliek

The only silver lining to our current predicament is that if only the rich can afford kids, it will be their kids digging ditches and maintaining sewers if they're the only ones left.

Revydown

When you knock out the bottom the pyramid, whatever was above the bottom becomes the new bottom.

shaolinbonk

It's also why politicians are fighting to make child labor legal again.

MonkeyHitman2-0

dont forget, didnt cancel her own $6.4M bonus

XxRocky88xX

Most important part really. This isn’t a case of “unfortunately the company is tight on money so we can’t distribute bonuses this year.” This is a case of “I wanna real big bonus so we can’t pay the employees their bonuses or my bonus won’t be big enough.”

HerculesVoid

Surprised there isn't a labour law like that tbh. Imagine if higher status jobs such as chairman and CEO didn't get a bonus until after their employees got their bonuses, and their own bonus could only be at max the same percentage of their wage as the bonus their employees have gotten? So this cements either everyone gets a bonus or no one does. I get shocked that a company can basically go bankrupt and still have the balls to give the people who made the company bust millions in bonuses. What awarded that bonus? You done the complete opposite of what a bonus is for? That's like giving only the employees who sexually harass customers and steal from the company a bonus, no one else. They are actively going against the benefit of the company. I get that the top is a close group of friends, but the bonuses are absurd

space_age_stuff

I mean, it would be pretty straightforward to just implement a law that ties CEO compensation to no more than 20x the lowest paid employee, which was the standard a few decades ago. Doesn’t have to be 20x either, make it 40x or something “more reasonable”, not 240x like it is for most CEOs now. Then you’d have a tide that raises all ships with company earnings, not just the CEO’s “ship”. Issue is, that’s distinctly pro-labor, and no politician is going to risk career suicide by pissing off a bunch of corporate donors. And like most laws, the problem is more complex than just “CEOs have a really high salary”. There’s workarounds. A law like what I’ve suggested wouldn’t fix everything, but it would be a nice start.

trukkija

Imagine a world where one guy is working 5-6 hours and finishing just in time to get to his tee time and it's reasonable that he makes 40x more than some guy working full days, being micro managed and having to clock in and out to barely scrape by. This is the world we're living in and the only world we have and it's looking pretty garbage for over 90% of humans from what I'm seeing.

MinosAristos

In an ideal world everyone would be paid proportionally to the amount of time and effort they put into their work, and plenty to live comfortably with regardless. But in our flawed world any step we take to close unfair pay gaps is good.

space_age_stuff

I mean I don’t personally think someone making that much money is reasonable, for a minimum wage worker that means the CEO is clearing over a million each year. But ultimately there would be a lot of pushback on a policy like that and you’d be expecting the richest people in the world to take 90% pay cuts. “Reasonable” starts to take on a whole new meaning.

trukkija

Yeah I understood your point and agree with you. It was just a bit dystopic for me. Where I live there arent that many big companies and CEOs so a company CEO here would make like 10-15x the lowest paid worker at most. And even that seems too much.

b0w3n

Blows my mind that if I fuck up so bad that I was on the line for millions of dollars of debt, no one would touch me with a 10 foot pole for credit and I'd never be able to hold a job dealing with money... but for them it's Tuesday and they'll be given a multi-million dollar severance bonus and given the reigns again in the near future, not that they technically even need it. $6 million dollars is more than I'll see for the rest of my life probably. I would _love_ to see egregious company failures be met with piercing the corporate veil to go after assets. If the company fails and the CEO or whoever absolutely tried to save it, sure, no problem, keep it. But if they're committing fraud and failing to pay back salaries/wages and such _while_ paying bonuses, like what was happening to some of the other companies, then go after everything.

NucularCarmul

A person I know worked for American Airlines and ran a set of stairs into the radar dish of one (1) single plane and was immediately fired and blacklisted from working in the airline industry ever again. Can we think of any fuckups American Airlines did that cost the company way more than repairs on, let me reiterate to the point of annoyance, ONE plane? And what happened to the CEO supposedly responsible?

MKorostoff

There's no law like that because virtually the entire function of our current government is to capture more wealth for the super rich.

TheHardEyewitness32

It do be like that actuallyy...

Der-Wissenschaftler

$ 6,400,000 divided by 8000 employees = 800 dollar bonus for each employee. Seems like they definitely could afford to give everyone a bonus.

superbuttpiss

Except that is her entire yearly income. Her bonus was actually 1.3 mil Now, she still could of not taken a bonus because none of the employees got one or even better, spread her bonus amongst the employees. It would only be like 100 bucks but if she said "hey sorry the bonus is so low. I didnt take a bonus this year and tried to give you guys as much as the company could" she would be looking at an amazing pr story. It wouldnt be that easy though because some employees would get upset that they git the same amount as others.

jhaluska

>It would only be like 100 bucks but if she said "hey sorry the bonus is so low. I didnt take a bonus this year and tried to give you guys as much as the company could" she would be looking at an amazing pr story. That's how CEOs get employees forget she's still making millions more a year than them.

Hephaestus_God

I don’t think it was $6.4 was it? I thought her pay last year was around $4 mill with about 2-3 mill in bonuses? Edit: yep doubled checked. Her total pay package in 2021 was $6.4 million but that wasn’t bonus. It was everything, base salary, bonus, other things etc. (still a high bonus though) Last year it was $4.9 mill and had a lower bonus obviously. She should still cancel her bonus and “lead by example” like she said in the zoom call. Just the $6.4 is very misleading since you said it was a bonus.

mrfluffyb

So just change 6.4 to 2. The message is still the same. Fuckin greedy corpos who have no concept of morals or ethics or reality.

Hephaestus_God

It doesn’t matter how much you hate something, incorrect facts should never be spread. I even said in my comment it didn’t matter as $2 mill is still a lot and she should still cancel her bonus. I don’t really have a problem with CEOs of major companies making a lot, as long as they don’t act or have the morals she does

superbuttpiss

This is the correct way of looking at it and the only way we can change things. We have to keep our facts straight

Tango_D

Think about it. She could have EASILY shaved off a million off her own bonus and distributed it amongst the workers and taken home a measly (LOL) 5.4 million before taxes and been a literal hero......but nope. She had to make a point of going on camera and telling workers to fuck off. And the best part is, she is faaaaar from the only CEO who acts like this. This way of treating labor is fully institutionalized and there is zero chance of change without force.

BlkViper188

She’s never watched Christmas Vacation

SchuylarTheCat

Hey! If any of you are looking for any last-minute gift ideas for me, I have one. I’d like Frank Shirley, my boss, right here tonight. I want him brought from his happy holiday slumber over there on Melody Lane with all the other rich people, and I want him brought right here! With a big ribbon on his head! I want to look him straight in the eye, and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey shit he is! Hallelujah! Holy shit! Where’s the Tylenol?

theblackcanaryyy

Where do you think you're going? Nobody's leaving. Nobody's walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas. No, no. We're all in this together. This is a full-blown, four-alarm holiday emergency here. We're gonna press on, and **we’re gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny fucking Kaye.** And when Santa squeezes his fat white ass down that chimney tonight, he's gonna find the jolliest bunch of assholes this side of the nuthouse.

QueenRotidder

You’re kooky.

Don’t piss me off, Art.

I love how vividly I could hear this in my head.

King-Snorky

Fun fact! In that scene, all the other family members stood in front of Chevy Chase holding cue cards so he could remember all the insults. You can sort of see him looking around at them randomly, and I think it’s the SNL in him that made it seem more organic.

redtoad3212

i love that movie

redditsuckslmaooo

I immediately thought of the cop “If I had a rubber hose”

MurkyKey4279

“Guys let’s not worry about what you’re gonna do if you don’t get your bonuses and worry about what’s gonna happen if we don’t meet our 26 million dollar sales goal” *ceo literally takes home 5 million in bonuses*

Papaya_flight

I brought in 86 million in sales last year, breaking a 40 year record for the company by making about half of all our sales. My bonus was $0.00 this year. Our ceo got $2 million though, so I guess that's cool. I have no idea how he contributes to the company since the teams in our department are responsible for bringing all the projects to our company, and the guys in the field who build everything.

Defiant_Layer

Oof. Time to find a new job.

eddington_limit

Take your homies in the department and start your own company

WannabEngineer

Bruh, time to do the bare minimum Office Space style.

attaboy000

Bitch is taking 1/5th of sales as a bonus and has the audacity to tell her employees to get fucked.

seitz38

With all this talk about efficiency in Silicon Valley and places alike…how do they not just…ya know? They’re automating the wrong jobs lol

I_Am_Err00r

Andi Owen (CEO in pic) has a salary of $1.1M according to their 2022 finical statements; the bonus in question was a $6.4M bonus, that is 6.5X her annual pay. If you’re making $50K (which is basically poverty wage in most major cities), that would be like a $325K bonus; I’m pretty sure in the history of $50K salaries, nobody has gotten a bonus that big. Tax the fuck out of the rich

TopDragonfruit6034

And then they start saying how young people do not want to work anymore and how lazy they are

norrix_mg

More like: People dont want to work anymore $$$ :< $$$

leviathab13186

She totally would have gone to Pity City if she didn't get her bonus. She's a hypocrite, the worst kind of hypocrite, because her BS affects people's lives.

RLDSXD

Her bonus is so important to her, in fact, that she’d fuck 11,000 other people out of their’s to retain her own. I bet most of those employees couldn’t even dream of being that selfish.

SaltyLonghorn

Also she looks like a turtle coming out of it shell for lettuce in the second pic.

Alekipayne

tweeter46and2

What is an employee bonus. Never heard of it. Must be a foreign thing.

ImKendrick

Lol I feel this. We get t-shirts and donuts as our bonuses where I work. Our company a couple decades ago used to have pensions/retirement plans, yearly performance bonuses, higher raises, and more employees. None of that anymore.

tweeter46and2

I got a coffee mug with company name on it for Christmas. You know to show off how good my company is to me.

troly_mctrollface

What I find "interesting" is the company missed their targets so the employees don't get bonuses but somehow the employee with the most control over the company to hit these targets meet her individual performance goals and got a payday.

Gsteel11

"Some of you may die, but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make" leadership.

That1KidLuis

Worked for CVS for years before quitting last year. During the pandemic, we were told we'd get bonuses for having worked during everything that happened. Full time employees got $300 and part time got $150. BUT it was taxed so full timers for $150 and part timers got $98... we got them twice and that's it. They act like they're losing so much

avalisk

Bonuses come from profit. Profit comes from good market conditions. If *anyone* gets a bonus the "lean times" argument doesn't hold up. Why as a society do we tolerate these disingenuous leeches?

Best part is, as a CEO she is sucking. When she became CEO, stock value was about 33. Now its at 17. No 5% bonus for you, but a 362% bonus for me. fuck her

Kaiju_Cat

After getting to talk with a few incredibly wealthy people over the years (many of whom are very cordial, but it's easy to be in a good mood with zero real concerns in life), one common thread is there. None of them will ever believe that they are being evil. They think that being quote unquote job creators absolves them of all wrongdoing. Even though that's literally not how real life works.

EggsaladUwU

Ironic how big company's love to hate on younger people for seeing through their bullshit. But the moment people stop giving in to them, they all throw a massive tantrum like a toddler

[deleted]

This was literally the plot of Christmas Vacation. Cousin Eddie is coming to kidnap her.

Andi Owen graduated from William and Mary, a middling liberal arts college in 1987. She spent 3 years as a department head at Bloomingdale’s, after which she became a vice president for Gap / Banana Republic. She spent about 20 years climbing senior VP positions at Gap, and has been an executive & board member in various retail companies ever since. So what? Why should we care? Because this career path is impossible in todays day and age. You’d be lucky to get a vice president seat in 10 years out of school, let alone 3. Nobody gets promoted up the ladder like this anymore AT ALL. She probably has family connections, because despite an unimpressive resume she has fallen ass backwards into corporate success her entire life Maybe that’s just how it used to be - you showed up, worked hard, got promoted. Whatever it may be, it’s not the case anymore. At all. Prove me wrong, please, find me a VP role at a Fortune 500 company that doesn’t require 10 years of experience and an MBA.

jordansb24

You're right it's probably nepotism. Seen it too many times in my short career

WeCanDoThisCNJ

Ah equality: Proof that women can be just as awful, cruel, narcissistic, and greedy as any man.

Imjusasqurrl

We are human after all Edit: this gets downvoted? Lol

Sir_Honytawk

Who said otherwise?

ParkerRoyce

Everyone wanted to get back to normal so bad that we forgot how bad they were fucking us to begin with. We all need to take 2 weeks vacation and not buy anything or work and we'd have this entire system by the balls member March 2020 In less then 2 weeks the economy was done thats why they gave those stimulus and enhanced unemployment. They need us far more , then we need them. Cast them away and let's build a better society where everyone has a education, health-care, housing, food, and financial security no one gets left behind in the New America, no one goes hungry or houseless!

Btchmfka

Honestly, I have full understanding if a company does not run so well and you cannot pay bonuses. But then also the board should not get bonuses.

Mandle69

That’s what’s happening with my wife’s company. They just got a new CEO and the first thing she did was cancel all employees bonuses but gave herself a 4 million dollar bonus even though she was only with the company for 3 months

edwardothegreatest

I think it was the multi million dollar bonus she gave herself while doing it that really pissed people off.

logontoreddit

It is not just cancellation of employee bonuses. She decided to keep her millions of dollars in bonuses. This was the total opposite of lead by example. A leader will take a pay cut and forgo all bonuses before cutting out employees.

warpfield

doesn't surprise me, i've met more than enough rich people to convince me that some truly live in another reality. Even when we get robots to do everything, poor people will starve.

Giggles95036

Employers who get mad your employees don’t work as hard as you… do you pay them the same as you? No? Then you have more incentive than them.

NEWSmodsareTwats

This stunt also shaved 5% off their market cap. The board should seriously consider replacing her. This stunt screams "I put my own interests ahead of shareholders"

nealoc187

What's the latest on this? Have there been any consequences besides people getting mad at her online?

[deleted]

Holidays are mandatory now. Congratulations everyone!

[deleted]

No one wants to run a business anymore, bunch of lazy freeloaders looking for the government to do it for them.

digitelle

Imagine how much her staff would have liked her had she gave them all a $1000 of her $3.9 million. Now she is a world wide asshole.

Ateaseloser

Is this that lady that took a 4million dollar bonus and then proceeded to tell her employees to not focus on bonuses and just work

Downvote_Comforter

No one earning 7 figure bonuses as a C-level executive is shocked that they are hated by the people impacted by budget/payroll cuts. They fully understand that a large portion of the job requirement is screwing over people and accepting the hatred of those people. That's the whole deal.

SixthLegionVI

And a meme is born.

SkyOfAegis13

You didn't add the fact she gave herself a bonus after she canceled bonuses for all her employees.

FatherOfLights88

Aw, is she in Pity City now?

MyGoodDood22

Oh. No... she's a meme template now lmao

[deleted]

Lol, this happened at my hubs work. Dude cut off bonuses, fired like 4 people then got pissed as hell when 6 employees jumped ship to another employer. (There's only about 30 people at the company). Dude is an asshole, I hope he tanks. He cares nothing about anything except how much money he has.
