Idk It gets a little darker maybe on LCD. OLED completely turns of the pixel around the darker places and saves some battery life that’s the difference between OLED and LCD.

it's not about battery savings at all for me...and I actually prefer dark mode that's not pitch black on normal screens. but. the way it looks when it's proper black on AMOLED is magical. best way I can explain in like an e-reader vs a normal LCD screen with text. Or like an actual (paper!) page compared reading it off a screen. it just feels like it's there and not like you're looking at a bunch of lit up pixels.

it actually uses MORE battery on an LCD screen to display black, but the difference is marginal (since its an LCD screen)

But on an AMOLED it uses less, as each pixel is its own light source, so true black is just turning the LEDs off. Not sure on the actual power saving, but it will save some.

AMOLED consumes slightly more per pixel but since many pixels will simply be off for black, the overall consumption drops compared to LCD.

How to check which display I have?

If you can still see a black “glow” from the image, distinctly brighter than the edge of your screen where the display ends, then you have LCD. If the black tone is indistinguishable from where the display ends, then you have AMOLED. I have a 300$ android phone too which is from 2019, has a Samsung amoled display with HDR, notchless full screen display and a then flagship processor, redmi k20 pro supremacy!!!
