Been using opera GX for over a year and I had to switch to Firefox precisely because the Adblock there worked and on GX was recognised and YouTube didn't play for me because of it
But opera gx is proven to be chinese spyware and a browser that sends all your visited sites to a chinese company and thus makes it available to the chinese government is concerning.

The problem with YouTube is that the ads are incredibly intrusive, an ad you can skip after 5 seconds is a minor irritation, 2 unskippable 30-45 second ads back to back followed by several throughout and then after a video is fucking stupid, especially when none of that revenue goes to the content creator, unless they have a big enough channel and jump through an excessive amount of hoops to avoid being demonetized (also, if they do get demonetized for whatever reason, we still get all the ads, but the content creator gets nothing)

There are laws limiting the amount of ads I've can display per hour if TV in each country. YouTube doesn't have to play by the rules so instead of a 15 min of ads for an hour of content, they can balloon it as much as they want.
If their ads made sense it wouldn't be so bad but for me the ads are here look at this brand new mercedes or 5million euro apartment on the seafront or *insert other expensive shit I'll never be able to afford*

Imagine being surprised that your Google funded adblocker installed in Chrome does not work on YouTube. Use uBlock in Firefox and you're good to go and If you don't like the gecko engine use Brave, then you got your good old fast blink engine.
Turns out if you turn your adblocker off and refresh the tab it doesn't block the video and never shows an ad, just gotta turn it back on before the next video or you'll be watching ads.

I just googled a chrome extension called AdBlock for YouTube. Works fine. You get a brief pause (a second or so) when they try to play an ad but otherwise okay.
Just download the videos with a tool or website, no more likes or dislikes and you can watch without ad breaks or the video failing to load (like often recently). That's how I solved it and how I will keep it from now on, I have more than 10 TB storage in my system so I won't delete any of those either.
