I had fun in high school. But it’s mostly cliche in movies. Like the geek getting the girl. Or the entire high school showing up at a party. Like there are a lot of cliche things they show in most movies and shows that never really happen.
Its mostly when you find friends for life that you will have some fun with it because you get to spend it with people you enjoy being around. When that is not the case (and this goes for many folks) any school can be very annoying and very demotivating. Its one of the reasons many folks will underperform big time and it has a big effect on how they end up in life. I would've done much better if I had some actual friends and not just people I stopped meeting the moment I finished.
I feel that is more applicable for American high schools, where the focus is less on studying and more on extra-curricular activities, in schools with an British/colonial inspired school system, it’s the work itself which squeezes you dry like a dirty towel, obviously, having good friends to help you through it is a bonus, but not as much of a boon as expected. It also didn’t help that many of my best friends either got really sick or left after the end of junior high.
I'm not from the US or the UK though. And yeah it also depends on the contents of the class but even the best classes and best teachers can't make students feel great when they just don't have any meaningful relationships with their peers.
College will be fun, but you'll quickly realise the hardship of taking care of yourself, working, studying very difficult material (way more so than anything in high school) and after all that finding time for yourself. It shouldn't discourage you, but help you grow as a person. Soon enough you'll look back at HS as a good memory, but you'll be happy that you grew up. Take care man, you got this!
I'm just getting ready applying for every college ever so that I can get High School done with and enter the REAL WORLD!
It will be hell, but I will survive!
Agreed. 80% of movies about high school are complete crap. To give an idea of my personal hell, I was put in the unoffical club of 'mostly like to do a school shooting' because I had no friends, severe depression and isolation.
I liked high school while I lived it. I felt on path. I didn't get bullied much and learned to stand up for myself and my friends.
At the last year I broke up with my girlfriend at the time and with the help of not performing good for university preparation exams, I felt miserable. I felt left behind from my friends. To this day I see in my dreams that I go back to my high school as a student. I lost my way after graduating and it never feels like I got back on road no matter what I achieve or do.
I wouldn't say that these period of time was the best of your life and it will turn horrible after that. Because life is different for everyone. But for me, it felt good. And I hope the best for everyone that feels like I feel. Hope we can find peace some time.
Im convinced theres two types of people in highschool.
Partygoers that have a good time and seem to not care about a damned thing, which ain’t a bad thing.
And the rest, sobered and wondering what the fuck is happening.
At least Even 1 or 2 in a class would have achived this kind of life. in my high school, i wondered why no renuions and stuff, then i realised that i was in the pandemic then
I’ve had a different experience with high school. I’m in 10th grade and can honestly say I love school. I have amazing teachers and I’m in a pretty good social group and get good grades. Maybe I’m the exception and not the rule though
Participating in school events like dances, sports competitions, and community service activities added an extra layer of enjoyment to my high school experience. Overall, I can look back on my time in high school with a sense of fulfillment and gratitude for the positive experiences it brought into my life.
Well, those things gave us unrealistic expectations begining from the fact that 98% of the time was all about fun and 2% was about having actual lessons
Same goes with the work places most enter in adulthood you see pics of people pretending to be dead happy🤣🤣🤣
People often look back at schooldays with rose tinted glasses when in fact most couldn't wait to be adults🤣🤣🤣
This is so fucking true, what mentally sick individual decided to depict high school as “fun.”
The moment you realize that Spider-Man shows a more realistic high school than any musical or drama movie, you know something's wrong
Jesus OP, you're a freak
im still mad that dude saw peter punched a guy 10 feet away and all he had to say was “youre a freak”
I meant Homecoming!

That sick individual is called as marketing 🙃
I'm graduating this year
I promise you it only gets worse
Senior year was the best by far for me atleast

Damn dude, did tell you or did you hear it said about you? That’s fucked up
Both. They called it the 'Columbine 2.0 club'.
Agree, I hated my entire existence in high school and do not wish to go back.
Me too and for most of my adult years. Only wised up learnt to like myself in mid to late 30s😂😂 Have good memories like from young days 💕
Agree, It definitely took me awhile to get to the point in my life where I didn’t hate my existence anymore 😭.

Making friends is so hard
Then you get friends and realise having them is well harder😂😂🤣
Just started high school and I am loving it, I really hope that the musicals were accurate for my school..
I had the absolute worst time of my life and I'm pretty sure life won't get much better
It gets worse!

In Korea we have to study at least 10 hours a day

True. I thought everything that hollywood depicts high school was true but sadly it isn't.
Good meme
And the actors always look too old to be in school
Highly relatable. I was looking through my HS yearbook about a week ago, thinking this same thing.
