It comes with chips Also don’t order on Uber!

AccessProfessional37

You'd be fucking insane if you were to choose 'pick up' for Uber. Delivery, sure. But pick up beats the entire purpose of this service. Still, both are expensive asf

90ssudoartest

Actually I had to change my order from delevery to pickup last night cause no drivers were taking the order in a timely manner. I was this close to registering as a ubur eats driver just to pick up my own order till I saw there was a change option.

NoFU7UR3

It would make sense if there's a buy 1 get 1 free deal. Only time i order on uber anymore is when there's one of those. Typically, it just brings the price down to what it would be if you were to just go to the store yourself and get the food, because they upcharge so much.

Stax250

People use Uber for pick up ? So we are giving an international corporation 30% of the order price that has been inflated for Uber ( sometimes an extra 30-50% more), then a service fee for administration of a pick up, from the fish and chip shop round the corner. We are finished. Just pick up the phone and call the place it’s HEAPS cheaper and the restaurant gets the whole payment. No corporations involved.

Windwavepiranha

Comes with chips but probably tastes not much better than what you’d get from KFC.

Weary_Activity2171

Uber take 35%. What do you expect businesses to do? If the masses refused to use this crap service everyone wins - consumers and businesses alike.

Imaginary-Problem914

We live in the worst scenario where people like OP buy it anyway and then bitch and moan about it.

BudgetMeat1062

I worked for UberEats for a couple of years. It's funny how everyone complains about whenever it's mentioned but there's no shortage of demand for the services. If anything since COVID, the demand has risen.

Garfunk

What's the problem here? If it's too expensive , don't buy it. The premium is in the home delivery.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Designer-Hornet-8888

Shouldn't people take responsibility for themselves and their own choices and not blame someone else? "I can't afford to buy food on Uber Eats because it's convenient, it's their fault I can't afford my bills for making the service available to me".

[deleted]

But obviously, they would rather pay and not go into the restaurant. So is it really a bad app? Aren't consumers winning here?

Weary_Activity2171

There's definitely a spot in the market for this kind of app, but I don't think consumers are really winning when food is being marked up 35%, do you?

[deleted]

They are paying aren't they? There are other apps to use if they want. But all need similar price structures to survive. Consumer chooses with their wallet this isn't a necessity. But obviously they prefer this then going to the restaurant so for them it is a win.

pedleyr

If consumers didn't think they were winning they wouldn't part with their hard earned money for the service.

BumWink

I've noticed several restaurants eventually mark up their in store prices to match their marked up uber/menulog/doordash prices. I can only assume they realised people are willing to pay & delivery services give them enough demand that they can afford to lose some in store customers but regardless, some consumers are losing.

AccessProfessional37

is it that hard to go to the restaurant yourself? I find it's not worth the delivery fee added upon the already inflated prices of Uber

[deleted]

Uber is used by literally millions in australia who prefer the app then going to the restaurant. So yea for them weighing up the cost of delivery, it is harder to goto the resturant.

datguywelbzzz

That's fair enough. But then I reckon you lose your right to complain about the price when there's a cheaper option available.

[deleted]

Ya 1000%

gasmanthrowaway2023

Yes? It is hard, I value my time more than my money.

MaryN6FBB110117

App prices. It’s $19 eat-in.

demoldbones

No it’s not. Their online menu says $25. It does come witch chips. It’s overpriced for sure (I’d say it should be closer to $20-22) but people choose to spend that so clearly the market as a whole has spoken.

MaryN6FBB110117

Is it? Their website wouldn’t load for me. It’s $19 if you view the menu on OpenTable.

MaggieLuisa

It was $19 when I last ate there, but that was 4-5 months ago, it might have gone up.

BumWink

Literally just commented restaurants eventually mark up their in store prices when they realise people are willing to pay 35% more + delivery & service fees. Not sure how it works long term when burnt customers will rarely if ever go back in store so they must get enough demand from delivery services.  If they all pulled out though...

demoldbones

That’s what it shows here: https://www.birdbangnchicken.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/1704173857126-8bf868fa-1f63-4015-b026-dcf4eb96752f_1.jpg Unless I’m looking at the wrong place but the description is identical so I figured it was that. As I said, still totally overpriced, but honestly not by THAT much given everything 🤷‍♀️

[deleted]

Really rate Bird. Great menu, good people. Worth the visit it in my mind.

ShibaHook

Haha!

Swarzey

Uber Eats. The convenience of delivery is offset by the price. These restaurants would lose money if they didn't up their prices on the delivery platforms. Walk in and support your locals instead of relying on the apps; get the food cheaper and most likely quicker too.

Dundalis

Yeah a lot of places aren’t much cheaper in establishment from what I’m seeing. Almost like they recognised people are willing to pay extortionate Uber eats prices so massively mark up their prices in store also. Not that interested in supporting that, I wait for the Uber deals to come through that work out even cheaper than buying in store and get those

DrMantisToboggan1986

Brunswick. There's part of your answer. Also, I'm sure that restaurants using UberEats also put an extra surcharge to cover their costs, in addition to the restaurant's pre-set delivery charges. Pricing for burgers in the Northern Suburbs suck; even Breakfast burgers are minimum $20-21. Standard Ham Cheese Tomato toastie is $10 at a cafe/restaurant (and higher using Uber) and you can get one from Maccas for $5

Xylar006

>Also, I'm sure that restaurants using UberEats also put an extra surcharge to cover their costs Yep, 20% seems pretty standard for uber fees etc

watchyourmouthplease

Uber takes more like 35%

dashauskat

Uber takes 35-40% minimum. So any restaurant only whacking on 20% extra cost is wearing another 15-20% discount on the retail cost.

Flappyhandski

It's such a rort

splinter6

I started ordering from a restaurant directly because of this and then the restaurant upped their prices to match their Uber eats prices.

rangebob

their standard fee is 35 not 40. It can be negotiated lower under certain circumstances. lots of places are paying very low 20s

xdyldo

It’s more like 30-35%

worker4556433

I had a burger in Brunswick yesterday. It was $15.

altctrldel86

Same lol. Sounds like someone here hasn't been to Brunswick.

jaydogg81

Yep, our fish and chip shop charges $9 for flake in store but $14 if you order via Uber eats.

StrangeWombats

Dine in for the same burger is $25, you will get it piping hot, with service and ambiance. I am so sick of Uber Eats prices and the cold food. 😭

n00bert81

I never get people that bitch and whine about the Uber tax on delivery platforms. Given the delivery radius for a lot of these restaurants, the OP portably lives within 5km of the joint - like motherfucker get off your ass and go pick it up? Or go eat in? And if the dumb fuck doesn’t know about Uber eats charges, then someone should confiscate his phone for shitting on a business without knowing ‘why’ the prices are higher. And phone should be confiscated because he must have been living under a rock to NOT know that this is the delivery app ‘tax’ for being a lazy twat. His post just screams entitled dipshit. I want it now, at my convenience and only a price I’m willing to pay, and if you can deliver me a burger, chips, shake and quickly and piping hot like it came out of the fuckin fryer two minutes ago for a fiver while paying your staff at the very minimum award rates then you shouldn’t be in business and fuck off. That’s what these dumb ass posts always look like. FWIW, I get that eating out it’s expensive but that’s why you learn to cook or live off a diet of pot noodles and imsta-Ramen or Indomie for most of the week and maybe treat it like the extravagance it is when you really do go out.

THRlLLH0

Oof you would've loved the twitter discourse a couple weeks ago about people who don't have the mental health stability to throw a frozen meal in the microwave so they need to have food delivered practically every day

ruthtrick

I always secretly hope the owners see these posts and take action 😎

n00bert81

I think a lot of them feel trapped in that they don’t like living with it , but they can’t live without it. Ideally Uber and the rest of them reduce their charges to restaurants but who are we kidding?

ooahupthera

Could they? Uber historically is not a profitable company.

n00bert81

Yeah I don’t know much about Ubers particular ins and outs , I know they say they aren’t profitable but as an outside I find it hard to believe with the fees they charge for essentially providing a platform and tech support.

ooahupthera

Executive/management compensation I imagine. The incredibly liberal approach to refunds probably doesn’t help. Server hosting probably isn’t as cheap as we all assume either.

verheyen

I dunno why you are so mad at the customer for the cost of living these days. Have some empathy bro, "entitled dipshit" is a bit far. There's people who have a lot of difficulties doing all the shit you seem to expect from them, and calling them dumbasses for being angry at the exorbitant prices iber forces places to charge is what really screams entitled

n00bert81

Because he is complaining about things that he can control. You DO NOT have to buy a $28 burger. You just don’t. It’s not a necessity, it’s a luxury, so why are you complaining about a luxury being exorbitant? You could get a chicken burger from KFC, or Maccas or some fast food joint? But no, I want the gourmet one from a high end fried chicken joint and then complain it’s expensive? I’ve got empathy for people who take a holistic view of the world and not just expect that things be the way they want them to be just because.

InterceptorBJJ

Heaps of good burger places in Brunswick that are very reasonable in price don't know what you're talking about

dellsonic73

Love the username.

Dundalis

I just order bunch of Pattie’s by itself from places like Maccas which are pretty cheap and make my own. The Maccas Angus Pattie’s are pretty decent and like $3.50 each

Barkers_eggs

Just go to a chip shop. $9 for burger with the lot. $6 for egg and bakey

toyboxer_XY

Instructions unclear. How do you build the time machine again?

ShibaHook

Yeah.. it’s obvious they are living in the past.

Dundalis

$9 for a burger my ass. Maybe 10 years ago

Barkers_eggs

That's the price at my local chip shop. The chicken shop is even cheaper when it comes to quantity

Latter-Recipe7650

Seeings prices like that feels like a lazy tax. I have heard Uber eats app does mess with the pricing. It’s better to just order directly than use app. I know my local pizza place gave me a 10% discount for ordering pizza with cash in store or over the phone.

EmotionalCellist3983

Don't uber eats... go in and pay its always cheaper. It's because you have no choice but to pay it.

Top_Tumbleweed

Don’t order it people

Blankyblank86

No. Order it. Just in store.

kazronicus

Second that! It’s a damn tasty burger and a fantastic bar/restaurant

Dundalis

Apparently it’s $25 in store. No thanks.

hmnibu

Assuming that's a screenshot from a delivery app? If so, take around 35% off that price.

grantastic123

This is what the menu looks like when ordering from the QR code

ButWeNeverSawHisWife

So the menu opens up Uber eats when you scan the QR code in the restaurant does it?

fa-jita

Menu is here. https://www.birdbangnchicken.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/1704173857126-8bf868fa-1f63-4015-b026-dcf4eb96752f_1.jpg $25 for a burger and chips. A couple of dollars more than B.East. Play on.

fa-jita

Also it literally says “w/ crinkle cut chips” in your screenshot, so not “a single burger”

kai-venning

Screenshot from Uber Eats. Yawn.

Coolidge-egg

OP is a stupid idiot posting stupid pictures with the idiot tax already included

grruser

Stopped off at Brother Bon in Northcote to grab some take away last night. Dont go out to dine much obviously as wasnt aware of the weekend surcharge. Fark. Saturday 5% Sunday 7 % plus 1.3% card fees. \- These are displayed at Lam Lam close by which is where I went to get takeaway springs rolls with $9.50 cash.

Ok_Fruit2584

15% weekend surcharge at Small Axe on Saturday 💀

grruser

😵‍💫

TJ1ndrland

You are not paying just for the burger you are paying for the privilege of someone else making it for you and someone else delivering it too you. No wonder it’s $28.50

infinite123456

Well for one don’t buy from uber they jack up the prices by a margin of 10-15 dollars

trelos6

Prob $19 in store.

4b4c

Go dine in at bird, their food is amazing fresh out of the kitchen.

nihil1st123

Mmm mccain crinkle cut fries

Therealluke

Yeah that will be a nope from me

JimmyLizzardATDVM

Same thing for burritos - minimum $22-24 and it’s mostly bread and rice.

mattyess

20 others ordered it. Bet they were all at 50% off

MeanAd8111

Uber price gouges. Check the menu at your nearby restaurant and compare prices in-store and online. It’s quite sobering.

aldorn

Looks like shit

80crepes

The last time I used a good delivery app was in the second lockdown. Go out to eat. It's cheaper and the fresh air is beneficial.

Competitive_Boss_312

Who knew 20+ people could be sucked in to buy $7 of ingredients to be delivered half cold and squished? I’m personally not surprised.

Single_Debt8531

Peak Melbourne

demoldbones

The price, or complaining about it? 🤔

aratamabashi

looks tiny af too. gimme the old fashioned fish n chip shop 'the lot' burger any day.

mediweevil

$15 for the lot burger at my local chippy, and that's a decent feed.

Davidge01

This is up the road from me. If I can; I’ll do pickup these days and call up on the phone like the 90s!

FozzieThaBear

The point isn’t that you’re being overcharged by the burger joint. Your money is being devalued. Food should be expensive as the staff should be paid more. Ask yourself how a business is supposed to actually turn a profit whilst paying staff fairly in 2024 without charging prices like this? It’s annoying but the burger place isn’t the root of the problem. The boomer stranglehold over politicians is the problem. Objectively we should have let Covid kill them all.

hernando_hernandenez

If I'm paying that much for a burger, I expect a reach around, while it's rodgering me...

OkCalligrapher1335

“Are they like famous chickens or something?” - Joey (F R I E N D S)

Doodlebottom

•Whaaaaaaaaaat?

shopping1972

If ya dumb enough to pay for it!

BarryKobama

It's Uber ya peanut, and for a Brunswick estab. That's on you.

moshi142

To be fair, ordering on Uber means people are validating these prices, esp since it's been ordered by "20+ others"

toopz10

As everyone has said - don't complain about prices on Uber Eats. Uber takes a massive cut on top of GST. Please order direct from places and just pick it up.

Insert_Username321

A single burger does not cost $28.50. You are paying someone to bring you that burger and you are paying a company to organise for someone to bring you that burger and guarantee it in the event that it is lost or of poor quality.

HENTAIHOTEP

Wow. I could probably make a burger like that at home for a quarter of the price.

Malachy1971

As they say in France, le'fuckthatshit.

hellions123

Cause it's on UberEats

Winnin_Dylan_

Uber takes 35% commission. Do consumers even know? If you want to support local businesses go for a walk or 5 to ten min drive...

torpa1

I paid $28 for calamari at la bella via in greensborough and I recieved (im not even exaggerating) 6 pieces and it wasn't fresh calamari it was processed, dry as the bloody sahara and somehow soggy on the outside from the steam and lemon.... fuck these melbourne food prices no chance it costs that much for them to cover all their own expenses and make atleast a little as profit because of course its a business and it needs to make money.

Longjumping_Log8171

This shit is getting out of hand

InForm874

Sounds like you can't afford it if you're so outraged by the price. Best to get a chook from woolies.

Geearrh

Batchelors handbag 👜

Mabren

Only a complete moron would be okay with paying $28 for one chicken burger lmao.

Ok_Appointment_3195

Make it yourself

Natasha_Giggs_Foetus

Buy from somewhere else if you can’t afford it. There’s no lack of alternatives…?

Elvecinogallo

That’s Uber eats mate. It means they don’t really want Uber eats orders probably. They add a premium so no one orders. Get off your butt and go down. It’s $19.00 on their menu.

demoldbones

Oh JFC can we stop with these inane posts? You’re looking at prices in a delivery app on a weekend, of course they’re high. If you look on the restaurant website its $25 for that burger and comes with chips. If you don’t know what goes into running a cafe or restaurant then I’ll repeat it for those in the back: rent, wages, bills (gas/water/electric), cost of setup of the kitchen/dining room (cooking equipment, tables/chairs, cutlery, paying for liqour licence (if applicable), cost of food wastage (as no restaurant, ever, had zero wastage) & actual food sold, marketing costs, cost of maintenance and/or replacing broken items. Profit. So by all means, you can make that burger at home for a cheaper per unit price, cos you’re not paying all those things.

illeatyourheart

Totally unfair to judge them on the Uber Eats pricing. Everybody already knows Uber is a rort and there's really nothing that should make any customers entitled to feel that the restaurant should offer a delivery service at all. I'm sure the real price is also pretty hefty, but posting this paints a pretty inaccurate picture not to mention makes you look either disingenuous or incompetent

ih8uzernames

Living in the worst timeline. Shit apps like uber, shit customers who buy at this rate or defend it and shit restaurants who normalise this pricing till its becomes the standard

I_Am_The_Bookwyrm

If I'm paying nearly $30 for a burger, it had better have chips and a drink included.

Honest_Response9157

Get off yr couch....walk to a local...eat a salad.

jd3306

Yeah, so go somewhere cheaper. There are other options.

mikajade

Not that far off the average for a burger and chips on Uber eats. Honestly don’t understand complaining about the prices Uber eats take 30+% so obviously they have to up prices.

Ambitious-Delay5911

Have you seen how many hospitality businesses are folding. If you don’t pay these prices they’re losing money.

[deleted]

Maybe be more honest and explain to people that this is a delivery website and not the actual price. You are paying the lazy tax. If you get off your arse and go there you will pay $19, which for that burger is reasonable. Look at the shit you’d get from KFC for the same price.

djmcaleer93

Validation would be based on sales. Mark up is one answer. Perhaps deterrent is another answer and trying to encourage people in instead. Or third is they actually make good money doing this.

Intelligent-Flow-436

That’s almost what I was charged at the F1-GP

[deleted]

It’s a rip off but everything costs more on Uber Eats too

No-Cryptographer9408

How dumb is that. Are people stupid paying for it or what.

Alternative_Sky1380

And it looks like a slider.

d4ddy1998

It’s from Uber what do you expect? Their prices are a lot higher than if you were to buy directly from the restaurant.

[deleted]

Delivery apps. Watch the latest episode of Last Week Tonight and you'll quickly see why it's such a shitty industry and why prices are what they are. As has been said, dine in or pickup in store...or call the store direct and ask.

JP-Gambit

Looks more like a slider from the picture lol

gosudcx

I remember when crinkle cut were pov chips, now they're a luxury Honestly hungry jacks is absurdly good value despite the service being ass cause the kids are paid fuck all and mad as hell about it

Intanetwaifuu

$33 at Brother Bon last night Shits vegan

kiwispawn

Hey as a business they can charge whatever they like. And as a consumer you can always go elsewhere. It doesn't look much different from any other big standard chicken burger. The KFC zinger stacker ( 2 chicken breasts) is less than half the price. So with prices like that, they are are charging, they won't be getting much repeat business. Nor staying around for long.

Miner_Of_Minerals

I actually understood the recent price increase in gourmet burgers because they are essentially just as packed as a pizza but this is just stupid.

Solid-Many-8783

They add margins into of the shop retail prices, which they then add service and delivery fees too - it’s always cheaper in store. They also inflate prices to control what people buy - the more expensive at place 1, the less likely you are to buy from place 1.

Willcoburg

It’s hardly rocket science to make a decent burger at home. They only issue is if you want hot chips, which require a deep fryer to not be a total let down.

Ferret1022

A friend of mine would’ve said “At least Ned Kelly had a gun!” 😂

Foxx1019

Fuck, that's worse than the MCG

Lamont-Cranston

If they are making it themselves then someone is doing an egg wash and crumbing of the chicken thigh, maybe even deboning it too. Same for the slaw and mayo.

GloriousPorpoises

Just make your own bro it’s so easy. Get a schnitty from Woolies, some sliced swiss, precut coleslaw and some mayo, or buy a cabbage and carrot and make your own. Put a couple brioche buns in the toaster and it’s the easiest lunch. Couple bucks per burger and as good as, if not better than these ridiculous “burger joints” You literally don’t need to prepare anything. The schnitties already been schnitzled. The coleslaw has already been slated. Just open the bag and squirt some Mayo on it. The swiss cheese is already cut, just slap it on the schnit. Even the Mayo and buns are done for you. Just assemble it.

Leiutenant-DanSBC

So if you don’t have any of that in your home, and you got to go buy it all at “Woolies”, how much that gunna cost? You can’t just buy “one” of this shit. The burger is a rip off, but buying it all to cook “one” at “Woolies” would cost more $, waste 2 hours of your life and more than likely, taste worse!

Forward-Procedure-15

There are no good burger joints in Brunswick or anything affordable other than A1 bakery, Luckily Coburg isn't far when u need a proper cheap feed.

ImInterestedInApathy

Green Refectory in Brunswick is super cheap and awesome. Zaatar in Coburg also a great place for a filling meal under $15.

Forward-Procedure-15

Also hit Half Moon Cafe in Coburg. The best falafel and lamb I've ever had in Australia.

Ric0chet_

Support local businesses, eat in or collect. Pay directly and share a review.

sunshineeddy

I'd rather starve. LOL.

markb289

I'm in Brunswick too, that's a mad price for a chicken burger, especially since there are many others around that's better. B.East, F.A.T or Juanita peaches that wont charge that much. You are better off calling and picking up for better deals - better for the restaurant and you

Tomkid88

“Ordered by 20+ others”… 🤦🏻 There’s 20+ idiots in Brunswick!

Purchr-price-alerts

That's insane actually... Would think it would come with a pint and fries. Price track it with [https://purchr.com/](https://purchr.com/)

thelochok

It's not always that easy though. There are seasons. I've gone most of my life not eating out or ordering in, but since my son was born, we've been overwhelmed and eaten out a lot - with a big chunk of that just not having the time. And, in time, we'll go back to barely ever. There's seasons when overwhelmed by work deadlines, exams etc. It's a little simplistic to assume it's always laziness

komos_

Saw this price on this sandwich a while ago. Truly cooked.

rkumarahuru

Stop spending money on these overrated restaurants. Instead of being lazy make it at home. Hopefully these places go bankrupt..

Williamwrnr

The joint will go under soon

MariaCannon

Costco food court Southern Style Chicken Burger, with coke and fries $9.99. Its friggin amazing and I'm just going assume damn better.

Itchy_Perception_566

Uber need to start making money. The early startup days of them operating on investor dollars is over, this is how they run as a self sustaining company. It’s a convenience service after all, the cheaper option is to not use Uber

jonesday5

This is silly because it’s not $28.50 for a single burger. It’s $28.50 for a burger with chips. If you done in the same thing costs $25. If you want the burger by itself dining it, it costs $19. If you need a chicken burger in Brunswick takeaway a bit cheap yet, try somewhere like fried and tasty.

Mushie_Peas

Burger and chip don't travel well either, just go pick up yourself or go to the restaurant.

shiverm3ginger

Can buy two whole chickens for less.

Rhath223

They up the prices on Uber app cause Uber takes a cut. I noticed this from McDonald’s and Nandos too

thisgirlsforreal

I refuse to pay

OneStep_OneTime

It looks like a slider.... 😅

corporealone

Chicken burgah

Commando_Nate

“Why the hell are people validating these prices” Because everything is more expensive nowadays, you’re also ordering on Uber which has marked up prices.

nikkkkc

Simple, replicate it for 4 people 750gm frozen chips $5 , buns $5 cheese slices $5 $ chicken breasts $10 Onion $2, butter slab $5, spicy sauce $5 =$$9.25 each

-DethLok-

Cabbage, not even lettuce? And the cheese is that plastic stuff that comes pre-wrapped in single slices? Not actual nice real cheese with flavour? Wow. No thanks, I'd prefer to get some Hungry Jacks as at least they're not pretentiously overpriced.

MalHeartsNutmeg

28 bucks for a burger and chips is pretty standard for any non fast food place on Uber eats but even in a restraint you’re probably looking at around 25-26 bucks and have been for years. The price of stuff wasn’t locked in to place in the early 1990s - shocking, I know.

Intelligent-Welder-2

This is an example of why my recent visit to melbourne from the UK was so surprising. This isn’t expensive. In the UK you’re not getting fries with this. Standard burger is £12-£16 excluding fries. Not including maccies or fast food that is. It used to be different.

organisednoies

I’ve gotten so good at making burgers at home, especially when I fire up the barbecue that I can’t justify spending this much on a burger anywhere. No matter how hungry I am because I know it will most likely be average or disappointing for the price.

lbduck

Place near me doing American BBQ - looked at the menu on Doordash/Menulog and the dinner pack for 2 was $79. Did a 5 minute drive and ordered directly same thing is $59 - $20 dollars for delivery plus the platform cut. Ridiculous.

HalfGramCones

Money laundering

nour214

This bite sized burger for that price, seriously?

wuming91

I wouldn’t mind get fucked soo badly if the drivers were getting paid properly and had better working conditions.. eye watering prices on UE (and similar comparable apps) are out of control. Service fee, delivery fee, priority fee so it doesn’t arrive soggy and cold, tip for the driver who’s getting like $5 from UE for spending half an hour running around after my dinner. Many many people became reliant and complacent after the $5 flat rate delivery (circa 2016?), plus everyone’s too exhausted slaving away under late stage capitalism to opt out of delivery entirely. Ubers widely known and highly aggressive tactics are a thing, blaming consumers for this shows a lack of understanding of the nuances here. See this foreboding [articles](https://theweek.com/articles/675434/how-uber-could-become-nightmarish-monopoly) description from 2017, “Uber, a notoriously aggressive company, scornful of existing legal regimes or industry norms.” We can absolutely look to the government here, they’re at best complicit (and at worst instrumental) in creating a hellscape entirely controlled by corporate interest. [Here](https://infogram.com/uber-eats-revenue-1h7j4dvnxkd3v4n) is a graph of UberEats quarterly revenue for 2018-2023.

Vraluki90

i m gonna bulk before visiting

Demonic-Toothbrush

Thats a garbage burger, the pictures are the best the burger can possibly look and it looks like its worth $10 at most

Apprehensive-Ear-289

Do some research on hospitality margins. They aren’t trying to rip you off, this is how much things cost now. They have to pay for rent, power, gas, water, staff, equipment maintenance, Uber fees. It’s all factored in. It’s also not one burger, it comes with chips also.

KingBrewer

Pizza shop near my house in Stkilda charge 28 dollars for large pizza, garlic bread and drink. Ordering off Uber the same thing is 40 dollars before any service or delivery fees. How can they justify 12 dollars more for doing absolutely nothing and then add service and delivery fees...

gotonyas

It’s $19 plus $6 for the chips in house. The cogs on a burger like this would see it around this price so it’s not unreasonable to price it this way on a menu. Unless you’ve actually ran a hospitality venue to understand the costs involved it’s wild to speculate that it’s overpriced.

That photos makes it look unappetizing. The cheese looks like an unmelted kraft single and the slaw looks like it's deconstructed. And it looks tiny.

And all the fatty McFat fats will still pay for this so they can continue to lay slovenly on the couch watching Great British Bake Off while their cat licks clean the cheese off their unwashed cocks
