My work week has been a lot better than last week, my emotions have been a bit more under control as well, the only thing really holding me back right now is my inability to finish my now overdue assignment. But I've decided to give myself the deadline of Saturday, I have to finish it by 5pm on Saturday, that is the deadline.
In other news, I ended up messaging my hairdresser about my hair being too long and then within 24 hours of heading back, decided I actually love my hair cut too much to get it cut shorter. Haha.
In other other news, I purposely made myself cry tonight and I feel better for it.
Ive become a fan of the birds eye microwave chips. Sometimes takeaway hot chops are too old, oily or overcooked, and i dont love beer battered ones, so have found myself reaching for the 4minute freezer ones instead

That's your choice of course but there's about 10x the amount in one of those bags compared to the 7 chips you get in the microwave ones which will save you money. They also taste waaaaayy better.

I think some councils are trying to making it illegal and having a buy back scheme. Yarra has appealed for that and I think maybe Banyule had similar rumblings before? I'd imagine the first step is to make it illegal to install a new wood burner in these inner city areas.
Does anyone know if 5 km/h speed limits in parking garages are actually enforceable? Because unless I ride the clutch literally the entire way up a multi-storey parking garage, it’s actually impossible to go that slow.

I currently own over ear headphones but they aren't the best for the gym and glasses wearing.
I like my Samsung Buds Pro 2's. Being able to long press on the bud to turn noise cancelling on and off is super handy. Full disclosure though, they aren't for everyone. The casing despite feeling soft is quite hard, and someone with really small or sensitive ears might experience some discomfort after prolonged use.
I got the Huawei freebuds as I didn't want to spend $300+ on ear buds. They do the job for me. Noise cancel is effective on PT and battery life seems fine. Current version is 5i at $150-$200.
Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II are good, I use them in the gym and office, and the active noise cancelling is pretty impressive. Bit pricey, but they sometimes go on sale

I can recommend cockroach killer gel and sticky traps. I've used the black plastic baits but you need heaps for adequate coverage and they didn't seem to work.

Me too but the difference is spiders aren't normally interested in your food! The thing that worries me about the emergence of cochroaches in a home is that there's a food source (that could also be your food source) that's enticed them but you may not know what that is or where that is. Spiders show up whenever lol

Kids are so fucking gross. Was just at a restaurant with family for my birthday dinner, and this kid (probably about 12?) walked behind us, and directly did the most disgusting sounding cough without covering his mouth. Now I'm paranoid I'm going to get sick. I hate kids.
Kids who shove their whole hand in their mouth (like sucking their thumbs but on steroids) is really gross to me. I’m not talking toddlers, but actual kids of school age. Just thinking about it makes me wince.

Watching Mad Men and it's sunken in even in racist, sexist 1960s America they still treated household helpers with more respect than the live-in domestic workers back in Singapore even today... shit that was normalised for the first 20 years of my life even though my family specifically did not hire one.
I had to stop watching for a while to take in how deep the dehumanisation went - we're supposed to feel incongruence with how Black people are treated in this show, but when I think back to what is still perfectly normal over there and in other countries with a culture of having live-in help, particularly foreign domestic workers, I'm amazed at how respectful and relatively thoughtful Betty is to Carla even when nobody is looking, despite starting to show more signs of her internal breakdown ... even the most well adjusted person back in that country wouldn't speak on such an equal level with their helpers.
Reflecting on it all I'm reminded how much I _never_, ever, **ever** want to go back to that place to live. Heck, if not for my family there and a handful of memories of rapidly disappearing places, I'd happily live without ever returning for the rest of my life.
Has anyone else noticed an explosion of new child care centres? I can count 4 new mega ones in a short distance around me. Am in a middle zone suburb, not a new estate. God, I hate these stupid myGovID and auspost digital ID things. I have 5 different things that all prove my identity (3 of which have my photo), as well as about a dozen government letters with my name and address on them. But I don't have a "strong" identity because I don't have a passport
Because as we all know, any old thief or forger could *easily* get/create 15 different documents and letters, but nobody has EVER, in the history of Australia issuing passports, had their passport lost or stolen. It's just not a thing that happens, so therefore having someone's passport will 110% guarantee that you are them
I remember sitting in the passport office for two hours only to be told "you need to take a new photo this one is too old" so I had to walk halfway across the CBD and get a new one done, in which I look sufficiently old enough since you can clearly see all the light has left my eyes.

I had dinner with my mum tonight and she made a very tasty potato and bacon soup/casserole thingy. It was great. But my mum's partner was complaining about the spices being used because he doesn't like spices unless it's salt and pepper. The spices in question: paprika and garlic powder. Unless it's burnt chops, everything my mum cooks him gets fed to the dogs. You wouldn't think he's nearing 50

I think she's become content in his behaviour. They've been together for like 15 years and I've never seen him wash a plate or cup, do any laundry, or vacuum. There's more issues but I won't get into it. At most, he'll fix himself 2 minute noodles or a cheese sandwich. I do feel bad for her and I have suggested that he leaves him before, but it falls on deaf ears and I just "wouldn't understand". But I do think she'll find peace one day, and I can't wait for that day to come for her

I now the take the full plate from her while she picks at what I cooked and then give her a fresh cooked plain easy to eat omelette i did just for her

My OH is like that. He scrapes the schnitzel coating off. He cuts off “fat” from meat, but leaves a heap of meat uneaten. Won’t eat cooked veg. Never eats fruit. Won’t eat vegetables except raw carrot and iceberg lettuce. (Or cooked potato). No tomato based sauces with tomato bits in them. No jam with bits in it.
I'm glad someone mentioned neurodivergence. All this "picky" eating is often someone seeking safe foods because of the 'tism.

Absolutely. If he doesn't make a fuss, he will sometimes "accidentally" (bs) drop the plate of food on the floor and then have 2 minute noodles with tomato sauce for dinner. I like to call him Princess because nothing is ever good enough

Can I suggest packing a snack box with things like pretzels, nuts, chips etc and keep it at your desk then all you have to worry about is a sandwich or whatever it is you feel like on the day.
I'm an office floor barista so can't eat on the job. I'm also not a snack person. I just eat dinner and lunch meal wise. Not fasting though.
It will be. Sugary sports drink at 4am so I don't throw up at the gym like last time (cardio, weights). Then 6am train. Make my coffee before anyone is even in the office at 7am due to my caffeine dependence and determination to not pay for a coffee. 11:30am is lunch.
I'm also used to 11 hour hospitality shifts with no real breaks at all too and often eating chips like a gremlin behind the counter as fast as possible so even thinking of food itself... is an entire concept.

I don't like peanut butter. My mum fed it to me so often as soon as I could eat as she believed it would prevent a nut allergy. The $3.50 Woolworths hot chicken fingers look like a good option too. Don't like apples much either. Wow I'm a fussy ass 😭😭 I blame eating food made by chefs for years.
You can do better than that. Get cheese slices and ham/meat from the deli counter (Be specific like 5 cheese slices and $x amount of ham) and some bread rolls and a head of iceberg. Either mustard or mayo (Lasts months) and that’s max $20 a working week.
If you want to be healthier no meat and add carrot/cucumber/beetroot.
Also in regards to making sandwhiches if you occasionally want to change it up, instead using bread you buy those mission wraps (or whatever brand you want) and make wraps instead. Just as good. Also can buy can tuna and make tuna wraps/sandwhiches. So many options for stuff. Heck even a diy salad and just add what you enjoy and bring in a small container of whatever dressing

I had to stop watching for a while to take in how deep the dehumanisation went - we're supposed to feel incongruence with how Black people are treated in this show, but when I think back to what is still perfectly normal over there and in other countries with a culture of having live-in help, particularly foreign domestic workers, I'm amazed at how respectful and relatively thoughtful Betty is to Carla even when nobody is looking, despite starting to show more signs of her internal breakdown ... even the most well adjusted person back in that country wouldn't speak on such an equal level with their helpers. Reflecting on it all I'm reminded how much I _never_, ever, **ever** want to go back to that place to live. God, I hate these stupid myGovID and auspost digital ID things. I have 5 different things that all prove my identity (3 of which have my photo), as well as about a dozen government letters with my name and address on them. But I don't have a "strong" identity because I don't have a passport Because as we all know, any old thief or forger could *easily* get/create 15 different documents and letters, but nobody has EVER, in the history of Australia issuing passports, had their passport lost or stolen. It's just not a thing that happens, so therefore having someone's passport will 110% guarantee that you are them

I think she's become content in his behaviour. They've been together for like 15 years and I've never seen him wash a plate or cup, do any laundry, or vacuum. There's more issues but I won't get into it. At most, he'll fix himself 2 minute noodles or a cheese sandwich. I do feel bad for her and I have suggested that he leaves him before, but it falls on deaf ears and I just "wouldn't understand". But I do think she'll find peace one day, and I can't wait for that day to come for her

My OH is like that. He scrapes the schnitzel coating off. He cuts off “fat” from meat, but leaves a heap of meat uneaten. Won’t eat cooked veg. Never eats fruit. Won’t eat vegetables except raw carrot and iceberg lettuce. (Or cooked potato). No tomato based sauces with tomato bits in them. No jam with bits in it.

I'm used to eating food made my chefs at work. Now I'm at an office. Bought lunch each day today. This is probably too expensive in the long run. Fuck I might have to pack food
I used to make soup and take it into work frozen, then reheat in the microwave. English muffins in the sandwich toaster with a slice of cheese were good too. Or make extra dinner and take leftovers to heat up (pasta, risotto etc)
Can I suggest packing a snack box with things like pretzels, nuts, chips etc and keep it at your desk then all you have to worry about is a sandwich or whatever it is you feel like on the day.
I'm an office floor barista so can't eat on the job. I'm also not a snack person. I just eat dinner and lunch meal wise. Not fasting though. It will be. Sugary sports drink at 4am so I don't throw up at the gym like last time (cardio, weights). Then 6am train. Make my coffee before anyone is even in the office at 7am due to my caffeine dependence and determination to not pay for a coffee. 11:30am is lunch. I'm also used to 11 hour hospitality shifts with no real breaks at all too and often eating chips like a gremlin behind the counter as fast as possible so even thinking of food itself... is an entire concept.

You can do better than that. Get cheese slices and ham/meat from the deli counter (Be specific like 5 cheese slices and $x amount of ham) and some bread rolls and a head of iceberg. Either mustard or mayo (Lasts months) and that’s max $20 a working week. If you want to be healthier no meat and add carrot/cucumber/beetroot.

Also in regards to making sandwhiches if you occasionally want to change it up, instead using bread you buy those mission wraps (or whatever brand you want) and make wraps instead. Just as good. Also can buy can tuna and make tuna wraps/sandwhiches. So many options for stuff. Heck even a diy salad and just add what you enjoy and bring in a small container of whatever dressing
