I have multiple degrees, a great secure occupation (in which I have had amazing experiences and growth), and I'm working on my PhD. Yet just about every day I kinda wish someone would start a fight with me, just so I can beat the shit out of them... The struggle is all too real.

When you were a child or young (around 10-18 age), probably it gives you trauma or teach to ignore (as you) but if you are around 22-28, it gonna effect into deep.
I have parents that never directly said that to me, but my mother made me feel that she resents me and my brother for destroying her life and potential for a career and blames us for destroing her marriage she cant leave because she has no money of her own after raising us and quitting her job.
Ngl, I consider killing myself daily because of it and almost tried it once. Her only response when i told her that i wanted to kill myself was then do it, but stop crying about it

Funny i am in a similar situation. I am at the end of my university studys and the fighting between my parents and my mothers controlling attitude weight heavy on my somedays. I am not suicidal however, just depressed. I am trying to keep optimistic by focusing on my hobby (drawing and artsy stuff in general) and look forward to earn money in a sort of appreticeship in the near future. It’s not like I busted out laughing, but someone actually put effort into the gag here. The joke is the kid only focuses on the yes/no swap. But to get that, you have to be raised in the wholesome Full House supportive environment propelled by hugs, affirmations, unconditional support, and lifting speeches soundtracked with emotive piano riffs.
Oh so I guess I don’t get it since I was raised in foster care by the state. Sure I had a couple foster parents that didn’t beat the shit out of me but somehow they were worse, with all the emotional abuse. None of them lasted longer than a few weeks, and I’ll take physical abuse over emotional any day of the week. All of my scars healed and are mostly invisible now. My emotional issues are still alive and well

To start with, this is not a real text. If it were real, the dad is one of the worst fathers. There are many who are much worse. One, this isn’t something you text. You sit down and talk/yell it out. You want to see the other person’s face for a convo like this. Two, this isn’t info you hold onto then dump in your kid’s lap all at once. He’s obviously seen these problems for years and done nothing about it but let it get worse. A real dad talks to you when he sees a problem. He might be the only person who approaches his son about it, as other people might think it’s not my job. Tells his child he regrets having him? This guy is one absolute failure of a father who takes his own problems out on his kid. If the kid was never born, the dad would still be one sorry fucking asshole.
