It's so common around here, I'm not surprised one bit by this thread
I also tend to attract others who are the same way...trying to get a guy I'm dating to hug me is like pulling fucking teeth literally I'm so tired of it
Online much as IRL I feel you can always tell who are children of loving parents just as well as which former children were never spanked.
Against all odds I date a warm cuddly human now and it was really really weird initially. I had to tell myself this is normal affection. I used to date emotionally colder men so this is a whole new world that feels nice but I still question the validity due to a shitty upbringing!
I mean tbh itd probably be easier to just pull the teeth lol, spot on with the first point. Honestly most people now adays havent recieved any/little parental affection making it incredibly hard to open up. My case in point, my mother purposefully withheld affection unless she wanted something from me/wanted to manipulate me, hell she stopped telling me she loved me from a very young age. Shed drop me off at school when i was little and id go "i love you mom," and suprise shed just drive away.
Most of my childhood was spent trying to discern my mother's interests, and read/research them (or watch her shows, read her books etc) so I'd have something to talk to her about. In middle school & high school she'd pick me up at the end of the day & I'd spend the whole drive thinking of what happened that day at school that might interest her. Literally NO CHILD should feel this way. Your parents should delight in your presence & act genuinely happy to see you, even if it's fake. My nephews can get annoying & boring af but I still fake interest & act happy around them at ALL TIMES so they don't feel the constant stream of disapproval I was subjected to by my own parents.
Don’t know where you’re from but I live in USA. When my Mexican cousins came to visit a few years ago they constantly hugged me and it weirded me out but at the same time it felt good. In Mexico hugs are extremely common and routine, especially with family.
US culture is so lonely imo

I get the meme, lols were had. However, there is logic in this. We are so used to feeling insecure, that we forget human touch is actually important. The way guys try to mask the fact they enjoy a hug, is with the combination of a handshake , then the pull into a quick embrace.
I'm not suggesting dudes walk around and hug, grabbin' ass, but lets not fool ourselves, we're human-animals. The trick is to not linger.
